This was the path that she had her eyes on ever since she had heard about it, learned more about it. This was the path of a duelist. Raizel didn't take it just because of how popular it is but rather because of how she thinks it could help her in future. Spells had always fascinated her, especially charms and perhaps the dark arts, the reason why she takes her Charms and DADA classes seriously but learning the spells isn't enough for the young Gryffindor, no, she wants to put what she learns to the test and what better way to do that than dueling. She knows how dangerous it can get, that it can get a bit rough but no pain no gain right?

She'll learn a lot this way, especially when she's against an actual person, whether she wins or loses. She will learn what she lacks, what needs to be improved. At the moment, the young Gryffindor is rushing towards the dueling club, a hint of excitement present on her face, making her grin. She is feeling nervous about it, especially since she's facing off against a friend this time but, the both of them agreed to work together in reaching their goals as duelists. As soon as she arrived at the said club, she opened the heavy oak doors, immediately scanning for the familiar figure of her friend and soon enough, she found her practicing on the dummy already. Seems like she is ready for this practice duel.

Raizel entered, making her way quickly to where Ying was. "Yo!" She greeted just as soon as she was near, a grin still present on her face as she did so, feeling so excited like a child who just received a gift from their parents. "You seem ready. Hope you go easy on me." She told her before letting out a chuckle. She was joking really. She'd rather duel someone giving it their all, even if that'll increase the possibility of her losing against them. It's nice to get a full experience rather than a partial one and she doesn't like it when one holds back either.

One thing was to watch over some sneks who desire to hurt each other for training, but a completely different thing was her own peers, even first-years, to hurt each other for training. Because she'd have to carefully correct them how to hurt each other better. It did not sound bad at all.

She'd watch the two aspiring duellists enter one after another to search for their dummies, but overhearing them wasn't an easy thing to do. Clearly they wanted to practice against each other, and she couldn't just allow them to do it without supervision. Especially, if both of them wanted to make it to the team. She jumped up from where she was sitting and made her way to them quickly.

"Hello, first-years, I am Meenauh, and I am one of the Gryffindor Duelling Team Co-Captains. I have a strong feeling that you would like to practice against each other, and I'm offering you my help," she made a pause for the girls to process it properly in case she caught them in surprise. She knew both of them, of course, as they had already applied to get on the team.

"Get readied and stand against each other, I hope you know all the allowed spells, be sure to cast only them and not anything else. Play it fair," she waited until the girls would prepare themselves and would take the proper duelling stance first and then continued, "Good luck, and begin!"

She would have to comment on their every mistake so that they could improve, so the began.

Two lights of the Dancing-Feet Spells were sent simultaneously from the opposing wands, Ying's a bit weaker and aimed poorly, so Raizel managed to dodge it. Raizel's more decent spell went all the way through the stage and hit Ying in the chest. The girl's body would take a second to process and select a random to track to dance to. So, her legs started to try waltzing around, apparently making it harder to dodge and aim for her next spell.

"Not bad, not bad," was her first comment, "Continue."

Ying had just cast a spell at the now dancing dummy, when she heard footsteps approaching her from the room's entrance. With a grin still illuminating her ivory features, the young girl saw as her friend came closer reflecting the same excited expression. "Hi Rai!", Ying greeted the brunette with enthusiasm, "Thanks! I think it's easy on a dummy!" She confessed with a small nod, "Yeah...I'm not taking it easy on you!" Ying said to her friend with a small laugh. And she certainly wasn't expecting that Rai would do that to her, they had agreed on having a proper training, they wanted to be prepared for the best and for the worse. To be the best they could be and to be able to deal with the worse consequences of their choices.

Before Ying or Rai could suggest anything else, someone reached out to them from the back benches. The young Gryffindor turned around hearing the girl's voice greeting them and introducing herself. Woah! Co-Captain? Ying thought, sending a knowing look at Rai, before giving all her attention back to Meenauh, That was being lucky!, Ying thought when the oldest girl offered to help them. "I'm Hui-Ying!" The dark-haired girl introduced herself politely with a small nod, "and...thank you!" She said enthusiastically with a small jump of happiness before heading to the right opposite side.

After Meenauh said the words that keep them starting, Ying raised her wand, directing it to Rai. But...there is a difference between the perspective of something and actually facing a friend in a duel. That moment of hesitation was enough for Ying's spell to not come out as she expected...not as it had worked moments ago against that dummy. The Dancing-Feet that came out of her wand had been so poorly cast that Rai had been able to avoid it with ease. Ying didn't even had the opportunity to feel frustrated or embarrassed with it, before she could think or react to it, she saw a quick flash of red light and something hit her chest. It was a weird sensation, she had never been hit by a spell before. It took a few seconds before she could start to feel the effects of the spell. Great, a Dancing-Feet spell too! She thought with a little despair when her feet started to move by their own will, carrying her body through a clumsy waltz. "Yeah, not bad at all!" Ying replied with a chuckle. But now, there was no more hesitating with her spell cast...Rai would have to deal with the consequences! At least she hoped for it...

Hearing that Ying won't be going easy on her, Raizel can't help but grin. Was it because of her excitement or was it because of her habit of grinning whenever she feels nervous? It was a combination of both although it was more because of the former. "Great, that means I should give it my all as well." If Ying assured her that she isn't holding back, then there is no reason for her to do so. There was a problem with their plan of practice dueling though and that's not having anyone to supervise them. It is not allowed for people to be shooting spells at each other and even if it is only for practice, they'll need supervision.

Seems like luck is on their side though. Before she and Ying could even talk about asking for someone's help in watching over their practice, someone had volunteered to do so. She turned her head to face an older student and not just any student at that, the Co-Captain of the dueling team of their own house. Raizel looked over to Ying, locking gaze with her own pair of dark brown eyes and then back to the student who had introduced herself as Meenauh. There was a hint of admiration when she did but only for a brief moment since there isn't that much time to be admiring someone. "I'm Raizel. Thank you for this." She thanked the older one just after Ying said hers.

As soon as they were told to go into position for the practice duel, she obliged immediately. This is it, the moment they had been waiting for. She drew her wand and stood opposite of her friend, facing her with her wand at the ready. She took a deep breath, discarding any form of hesitation. Yes, she is facing her friend, completely different than that of the dummies and the thought of hurting her did make her hand shaky while she stood there but they told each other that they'll give it their all. That's enough for her to be able to gain focus and be serious for once.

The moment Meenauh signaled for them to start, spells were fired at the same time. Raizel saw how her spell hit her friend and she would be lying if she said she was expecting for it to hit its target. To tell the truth, it was a surprise for her, much more so when it had taken its effect on her opponent. So that's what a dancing spell's effect looked like against a person. She thought before taking a step to the side, avoiding the one coming for her. There was something odd about that one since it wasn't as powerful as she was expecting it, making her look back at her friend. She hesitated perhaps? But it seems like she got her composure back. That made her smile. Now things are getting serious.

Raizel should be liking the fact that she hit, so she decided to continue the streak with a Flipendo — not the strongest one — but something went wrong. And here what it was, or in reality, who it was — Ying. In the last second before Rai's cast, Ying, who seemed to be taking enough control over the waltz, pushed forward a very strong Flipendo. It almost went astray, but in the very epic last moment, Raizel seemed to try dodging it. Dodging while casting her own spell. The cast was a very strong miss — Meenauh dodged it, allowing it past her and into the yawning second-year just behind her.

"Depulso," she quickly exclaimed, pushing a palm forward at the yawning boy, getting him off the spell's way.

Back to Rai's momentum: the spell went really far from the target, because she tried to dodge. Stay with me, it was a serious mix of causality. Because she was dodging Ying's spell, her own spell missed. But at the same time, casting her own spell made her lose focus, so she put herself in the way of the spell, not away from it. A strong blow hit her in the chest, pushing her a few steps back and forcing her to catch her breath.

"Very nice, Ying, great control," Meenauh commented her spell casting while doing the dance, "Raizel, focus, try to outwit and first dodge then cast. Or cast before your opponent does that, don't do the two things at once."

Slowly after, the spell wore off and Ying's legs would stop circling around, allowing her to catch her own breath.

Ying always loved music, however, dancing was definitely not her forte, but her feet kept walking her through the room in a awkward waltz's style. She just had the instinct to look over her shoulder in time to see Rai aiming her wand again towards her. Ying just knew that she had to be faster then her friend this time. But it was not an easy task, the dance she had been performing unwillingly was definitely hindering her aim. That's when an idea came to her mind, perhaps the secret was to find a pattern in her dancing feet and so she could know when it was the right time to strike.

Concentrating in the way how her feet were guiding her and starting forming the spell on her mind Ying finally had felt that she was in the right position, "fli-PEN-doh!" She said with confidence and making the right wand movement. A line of blue light appeared and with a loud bang it hit right into her friend's chest. Admittedly, everything that happened in those few seconds was a cascade of lucky events. Well... luckily for her, Rai would see it in an entirely different way! Her friend's spell almost hit Meenauh that dodged it and helped the second year boy to not become the last target of it. Ying felt really impressed with how fast her prefect had acted to prevent the spell to hit the wrong people.

Meenauh's words made her feel happy and proud of herself, but she tried to contain her feelings to know show how much. The fact that she now was feeling almost breathless after that frenetic dance, helped disguise the smile that wanted to spread across her face. She mentally thanked all her morning exercises or else she didn't knew how could she continue to stand like if nothing had happened. She nodded to Meenauh, letting her know that she had acknowledged what she had said to them and then turned her attention to Raizel again, "You okay?" She asked with concern. Then a smirk formed in her lips, "Good luck next time!" She said in a mix of teasing and encouragement.

Did she got too carried away? Why did she even think that dodging and firing a spell would be such a good idea? Well, the thought was cool and it'd be awesome if she managed to pull it off to be honest but alas, can't have everything go your way. The spell coming for Raizel that time was something she could see, something she could've dodge but of course, she had decided to take a risky move by dodging and then firing a flipendo back. Unfortunately, due to her lack of concentration in doing one thing at a time, her spell missed her target and went straight for their duel moderator. Luckily, she was quick on her feet but the poor boy behind her was unaware of a spell coming for him.

It would've hit him but Meenauh was fast enough to fire a spell towards him, a depulso. That's the first time she is hearing that. Oh how exciting would it be to learn more spells in the upper years. She doesn't have much time to awe or even wonder more about that spell as she felt the force of the flipendo spell that fired from her opponent's wand. Ouch, it hurts, it almost knocked her off of her feet. Good thing it just knocked her back. It's not called a Knockback Jinx for nothing. It took a while to catch her breath, hearing Meenauh's advise. "I'll keep that in mind." She uttered, a smile forming on her face, feeling the adrenaline rushing. "I'm still in this game." Raizel told Ying with a grin, getting back into position, the look in her dark brown eyes burning with excitement. That's right, she can still do this. Just need to get her focus back.

The battle of Flipendos continued. Meenauh smiled as the two girls shouted their incantations, and remembered her early years of duelling. When you were in this bottomless lake of adrenaline, and you haven't practised enough, and… Well, why, you don't know that many spells in general, that are suitable for duelling… when you're like that, your brain would find the simple solution — spam what you can. And that's how Flipendo comes in.

The first-years had a lot of spells in their inventory. The spells that would set each other on fire, or make them feeble and frail. But when you are facing your opponent in a real duel, there's not much you can think of unless you practised different scenarios. So, Flipendo it was, really.

Two bright spells left the young Gryffindor wands and eager to deal some decent damage, they headed for their intended targets. When duelling a… oh, why not speaking out loud.

"When duelling a single person, you always know that the spell will go your way," she started as Ying's spell hit Raizel again preventing her to aim properly again, "And in return, you also have no other target to direct your spells to."

She paused, waiting for Raizel to come to her senses. "Even though it only sounds easier, in reality, you have to constantly remember that almost every time it's casting and trying to evade at the same time," she finished her guidance, waiting for the girls to return to their duelling stances.

"Continue," she nodded and directed with her palm like a conductor to continue their inevitable quest of who reached the hospital wing first.

While she had a couple of spells in her arsenal, she wanted to at least get a hit in using flipendo but of course, not everything will go your way, Raizel knows that by now. Just as she cast her spell, her opponent's Flipendo came rushing at her, hitting her once again. The impact threw her aim off, stumbling backwards but luckily she caught herself before she could fall. Her eyes are on the ground, staring at it as she catches her breath. None of her spells are hitting for some reason, which means she knows what she should work on. Even if she has a lot of spells, if none of them hits, they are practically useless. She would be lying if she says she isn't frustrated but she needs to keep her cool, get back the momentum she had earlier.

That spell she fired before that managed to hit her opponent was probably just luck and now, she had probably used it all up. She shook her head, getting her focus back once again. The duel is still ongoing even though she had taken a couple of hits in and until she could still stand, she'll continue fighting. She'll keep trying no matter how frustrating it's getting and the adrenaline is still pumping. The advice is still coming in and she pretty much appreciates how the older student is telling them that. What could she do to get a hit in though? That's what she's thinking. Her aim is so off.
