Caitlin Harmen | First Year | Gryffindor
Full Name: Caitlin Harmen
House: Gryffindor
Age: 11
Wand: 30,6 cm willow wood and dragon heartstring
School Year: First Year
Species: Human
Patronus: (Not applicable until 6th years)
History/Background Story:
As the child of two muggle-born parents, the worlds of magic and muggle have been intricately intertwined for me. My mother, a Gryffindor, works tirelessly at the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office to protect the non-magical world, while my Ravenclaw father's passion lies in researching and creating potions, with a particular interest in muggle chemistry. He actually studied for muggle high school qualifications once he left Hogwarts at a local college, and went so far as to attend university
night classes to get a degree chemistry. His colleagues think he is mad, but he is insistent this combined knowledge of muggles and wizards will lead to great things, although he is yet to discover anything yet!
Despite my mother's attempts to connect me with the muggle world through sports clubs (running, hiking and rugby) of which I attended until I left for Hogwarts, I found myself drawn to the magical realm. A few instances of accidental magic at my muggle primary school made it clear that homeschooling was a better option for me, and my grandparents (who are muggles) took up the mantle of teaching me. I'm going to miss them a lot while I am here. I suspect there may be more magical relatives in my family tree and I'd love to investigate further.
I find myself engrossed in muggle books about magic and fantasy, they never fail to amuse me. I hope they have at least some muggle fiction books in the Hogwarts library!
Now that I have finally arrived at Hogwarts, I am eager to explore its vast and enchanted halls, and learn all I can about magic. My dream is to become a celebrated magic explorer, able to venture safely into uncharted territories. I can hardly wait to attend classes in Defense Against the Dark Arts and of course, try my hand at flying.
First Instance of Magic:
When I was five years old, my gran was trying to serve me broccoli soup, which I loathed. As soon as she ladled soup into my bowl, it vanished, marking my first instance of magic.
