A Potion

Draught Of Noxious Nightmares

Ingredients:
x1 Jewel Beetle Shell (crushed to a fine powder)
x3 Metamorphmagus Hairs (divided)
x1 Hair of Intended Target (optional, but exceptionally devious if crafting the potion with a select person in mind)
x6 Drops of Nightshade Oil
x1 Moth Chrysalis (must be used on the night before the moth is due to hatch)
x1 Bird Feather (downy is best)
x1 Butterfly Wing (ground to a powder)
x1 Bat Wing Bone (ground to a powder)
x2 Dashes of Pearl Powder
x1 Dash of Silver Powder
x3 Dashes of Gold Powder
x1 Moon Seed
x2 Sprig of Valerian (chopped and ground)
x1 Crystal Flask (must be purified with moonlight)
x1 Moonstone for Bottling

Effects: This potion is reactive upon contact, consumption, and inhalation (or generally, if the stopper is removed and neglected). When dosed, a flurry of small, sooty-winged creatures will fly from the bottle and torment anything conscious in the vicinity- if using a specific hair when making the potion, the creatures will be inclined to swarm the intended target. Much like a boggart, the bottled creatures will adapt to appear as a critter a target is afraid of (but again, only if a targets hair has been added to the potion). If consumed, or inhaled, a target will experience vivid night terrors (the next time they sleep) alongside the flurried attack.

Side-Effects: Acts as a mild poison, which means if given too large a dose, or taken too frequently, the consumer may die or fall into an unawakenable sleep. May cause stomach aches, and cold sweats. Prolonged exposure will cause vivid visual and auditory hallucinations- as well as possible bouts of madness.

An Important Note: The draught is very much alive and must therefore stay corked with a moonstone stopper, and contained in a vial that has been purified with moonlight. The stopper MUST be made from moonstone- the purer and fresher the better- it is the only thing that pacifies the nightmares and holds them at bay. Handle with caution. This is not your average potion; the things which swim inside should, under no circumstances, be released. Do not follow in the footsteps of the lady Pandora.

Monstrous fingers grasp at its rim as ripples thrum across its surface. It reflects all and nothing. I wonder, what will you see?

Gaze into its silver, there you shall bear witness to what was, what is, and what will be. But be heedful, do not let your gaze linger on the mist too long. You may see something you were never meant to.
