The fight a few days ago had almost been forgotten. Nate had a serious talk with his brother, which they had to do as secretly as possible so that their father wouldn't find out, but all the dust had settled and, to their fear, their father hadn't found out about the unofficial fight in the evening. There had been some calm after the holidays in the Smirnow house and it seemed that everyone needed it. The end of the year was coming up and Nate and his friends met the day before to prepare the garden. Lana took care of the decorations, fairy lights, candles, beautifully set tables and she did an excellent job. If this had been left to the boys they would have ended up sitting on plastic chairs with red cups. Nate, Sam and Nick assisted her with all the tasks and let her command them.

It wasn't long before the garden behind the house was beautifully decorated and the friends said goodbye until the next day. Nate then had to help his mother in the kitchen. She would provide food for the young group but not without assistance. She made a taco salad, pizza buns, a large casserole lasagna and muffins. They had also provided snacks such as crisps, chocolate and chewy sweets which they would put in bowls on the table. Nate and his mother spent a chaotic day in the kitchen, he was sure, in the meantime she regretted that he helped her, but he enjoyed spending this quality time with her. But at the end of the day, he dropped into his bed and was glad to put his feet up.

He almost couldn't believe that in a little more than 24 hours the new year would dawn, but he was looking forward to the evening with his friends. Most of all, he was looking forward to Katherine coming too. He had invited her after the fight and because she loved to tease him so much, she didn't agree to come but kept him in suspense. But finally he had received a message from her and he sent her his address. They would all stay at the Smirnows' and so he offered it to her.

New Year had come and the day was relatively quiet. Everybody did their own thing, one or the other slept again at noon and an hour before Nate's friends would arrive, he went to shower, did his hair and put on his evening outfit. He kept it casual and laid out some sweatpants for the evening in case they were going to have a cosy evening on the couch. His brother came out of his bathroom all dolled up and Nate couldn't suppress a grin. "Shut up." he said but Nate could see his grin. His brother would be celebrating New Year's Eve today at friends' houses. His parents and sisters were going to their parents' friends and then would be back that night. It had taken them a bit of convincing to let Nate have the house just like that, but since they would be coming back home that night, they had kind of come to terms with the idea, or rather resigned themselves to it.

Nate switched on the lights in the garden, his father lit the fire in the fireplace with a quick wave of his wand and cast a spell over the garden so that it was warm and no one would freeze. In 15 minutes it was time too, and he would be expecting the first guests and just as he dropped down on the couch, the doorbell rang. "I'm going!" his little sister yelled and Nate could hear Nick's voice at the door greeting his sister. "You're early!" Nate called from the couch and Nick started laughing, "You don't act like you don't know me." Instead of joining Nate on the couch, Nick fawned over his mother. He greeted her and offered to bring out the food, which he did. Nate rolled his eyes but stayed on the couch waiting for the other guests. But he was most looking forward to seeing Katherine.

Kath had gotten ready for Nate’s new years eve celebration, she picked a skin-tight, short black dress, that fit her like a glove and complimented her figure in every right way. But instead of keeping it basic, she chose one with an open back and a diamond band at the back. Something to sparkle for new years.

She had her hair down in perfect waves, wore cherry red lipstick and had simple makeup on. She sprayed on her favourite perfume and wore black heels with straps wrapping around to her knee. She gave a small spin in front of her mirror to ensure she looked absolutely perfect for tonight.

She was quite a perfectionist when it came to her looks all thanks to the many balls that her mom took her to. She had packed a set of PJs in her bag, they were black silk shorts with a matching black silk chemise top, For when she stayed over there. Kath had also packed any extra necessities that she would need there in her mini handbag.

She went down from her room and passed by the living room her eyes catching the sight of her father reading some book, she spoke” Not going to ask where I’m going?”,She looked at him hoping there would be some care for her in him but as usual a response cold as ice"Couldn’t care less, just don’t bring the family name down”, He didn’t look up at her and continued to flip the page.

She walked to the door letting out a simple scoff, Apparently, the family name and reputation were more important than where she was going. Great parenting Lucian Labrouder she thought to herself. His response irritated her, she had left a bit earlier for the party since floo powder and all does take a while.

She had finally arrived in America with floo powder, Due to all the time taken she was just minutes away from the party to start. She had cursed to herself, The Gryffindor started walking to the address that Nate has sent her. Kath couldn’t stop thinking of their last interaction the tension, the sparks and their chemistry in general.

It was something hard for anyone to ignore, a part of her was a bit excited to meet him again. The problem was Kath’s attention had gone to a certain shop her eyes caught sight of. A guitar shop, America provided some amazing guitars. Some weren’t even there yet in Britain, If anyone knew Katherine well, they’d know that she plays the guitar pretty skillfully. She could pass as a professional.

Whether acoustic or electric, she was just perfect at, but her speciality was electric. She was quite the rock and roll fan, but would never tell anyone. Only really close people to her knew that about her. She was introduced to that world courtesy of her cousin ever since then she’s loved it, probably due to the rush of playing.

Her eyes looked at her phone to check the time then back at the shop, the party supposedly started by now. But she couldn’t resist, she only promised It’d take a few minutes and the place was close to the address so she wouldn’t be that late right? As soon as she entered her eyes would light up like a kid in a candy store.

There were all sorts of guitars, from different brands all over. The even better thing was that they all had cool designs, she had greeted the shop owner and had taken a look around, trying some of them. But one guitar had caught her eye, One she had always wanted but they’d sell out quite quickly. They were the best ones in the market with the most beautiful sound if one knew how to use It.

A black Gibson SG, She had walked to it and held it in her hands. The Gryiffndor was pretty much in love with the thing. It was made with such good quality, especially the materials, from the string to the actual guitar itself. She took it to the register right away, it had cost a good thousand dollars but it was all worth it for her.

Obviously, her father would be fuming if he knew she’d bought a guitar since he had forbidden her from playing any guitar a few years ago. But she didn’t care she could hide it well, Kath gave the credit card to the cashier to take the amount needed. The guy went inside the storage to prepare it for her in a case and all.

Her eyes looked at the clock that was hanging up on the wall and cursed under her breath, she was a few minutes late. She must have lost track of time drooling mindlessly over guitars, also she had yet to think of where to place the guitar. She couldn’t take it back home now, but she couldn’t leave it either it was rare to find one of those available.

Whatever, she thought to herself, she’d just go with it to the party. The guy had placed the guitar in a case with the strap in it and extra strings in case any string gets damaged. And gave it a small polish. Kath had looked at it with a huge wide smile, which was one of the rarest moments in Kath’s life.

For her to smile genuinely from her heart. The Gryffindor had a wide-toothed grin and closed the case in approval of the product and thanked the cashier. She then sprinted to the address, she was glad it was a bit close. But she stopped when the address was a building away. Kath thought it would seem rude how she just came with something she bought for herself and nothing for the rest.

Her eyes darted around till she found a bakery, Kath bought a chocolate cake that was their best seller, then went back till she would be outside the door. She gave a simple knock on the door.
Now it totally wouldn't seem that she was late because she was shopping for a guitar.

But she’d be late because she bought a cake for the party. Sometimes Kath can be a real genius she praised herself silently. The Gryffindor was happy with her newly purchased item removing her irritated mood from before due to her father, and a hint of excitement for the upcoming party.

After Nick had arrived, sucked up to Nate's parents and they said goodbye to Nate and his brother, Sam and Lana also arrived. They had brought some snacks with them and placed them on the tables in the garden, where the group of friends then made themselves comfortable. They laughed and chatted, told funny stories of the past and the evening quickly took on a pleasant atmosphere. Nate's brother would not be joining his friends until later and so he joined the group as well. "Nate, didn't you say Katherine wanted to come too?" asked Sam after a while and Nate noticed the queasy feeling in his stomach. "Yeah right, where is she?" now Nick chipped in as well. "I'm sure she'll be here soon." Replied Nate, trying not to let the uncertainty show. What would he do if she really dumped him? But no, she wouldn't, right?

Nate was addicted to the games and tension with Katherine, but at the same time he hated that she had so much power over him. If she really stood him up, he shouldn't care. But he did. Nate's brother noticed that his little brother was struggling with his thoughts and even though he loved to tease his little brother, he would not torment him. They had a good relationship and so he threw popcorn at him to distract him a little. "Catch it." Laughed his brother and Nate opened his mouth to try and catch the popcorn. Eventually Nick, Sam and Lana tried too and soon Nate couldn't keep up with all the popcorn.

As the eldest Smirnow son went to get something in the kitchen, he heard the doorbell ring and he already had a guess who it would be. With a cheeky smile he opened the door and there stood exactly the person he had expected. "Katherine. Glad you could make it too." He looked her up and down, there was no denying that he and Nate were brothers. Not just by looks but by their manner. "You look good." He remarked in passing and turned around. Behind him he saw Nate coming towards the door and he couldn't help but laugh and walked back into the garden without comment.
Nate was relieved that Katherine hadn't stood him up. He was glad to see her again and he was frozen for a millisecond by her beauty. Her black dress fit her body like a glove. Her icy blue eyes looked at him and immediately that smirk was back on his lips. "Wow." He said "Come in." He added quickly and closed the door behind her. "Cake and guitar, I see why you're late." He winked at her, teasing her a little about her punctuality. "You're welcome to take the cake into the garden. Shall I put the guitar down or will you play something for us?" He would lead Katherine into the garden where his friends were already waiting, all greeting her cheerfully. "It's good to see you again." Said Sam honestly and Nate loved his friends for how open-hearted they were.

"You're just in time. We're going to play Truth or Dare." Added Nate's brother now. He would be leaving soon, but apparently he wanted to be able to laugh some more, so he placed an empty bottle in the middle of the circle of friends. "I thought we'd be too old for that by now." Nick said with a raised eyebrow and Lana agreed with him. "Then you're playing it wrong." With those words, Nate's brother spun the bottle for the first time and while it seemed everyone was still a little wary of the game, they still looked at the bottle eagerly. It landed on Lana. "Truth or Dare?" said Nick and Sam in unison and started laughing. "Truth."

"Boooring." Groaned Nate's brother, "Okay, who's your crush?" he inquired and a quick glance fell on his little brother. He was going to create chaos and he knew exactly what he was doing. Lana swallowed and coughed quickly, "No one!" Nick and Sam both started laughing. "That's a lie." The devilish smile on Nate's brother's lips grew. "Then there's a penalty. I'll let the group decide." Lana rolled her eyes but tried not to complain. "Suggestions?" asked Nate to the group, not understanding why everyone knew Lana had just lied.

Kath had been greeted by a face she knows all too well, Nate's brother. The Gryffindor had noticed how his brother had checked her out,” you don’t look too bad yourself”, She had a devilish smirk on, did she mean it? Of course not. But it was best for her to stay kind for the sake of Nate.

Speaking of Nate, she had met him right after his brother turned to leave back to the garden. He had spoken a simple wow and invited her in. A part of her was happy about his compliment, she did spend time to make sure she looked absolutely perfect for tonight. She turned to look at him after she entered.

She got a bit flustered at his teasing, She must have looked rude since she brought the guitar with her. As a pure blood, she should be into something more classy and gentle, not rock. She should be playing a violin or flute or something of the sort. But she went onto a completely different road, Although, she did have vocal courses where she sang and had a talent for it.

Kath had blushed due to being flustered by the whole situation ” What, oh uh please put it down but carefully please, it’s not even mine it’s um my cousins yea I can’t even play you know”, she let out a nervous chuckle as she gave him the guitar and would watch as he placed it. She didn’t want it to get damaged early, she had fallen in love with that guitar.

She had also hoped that her cover was strong, maybe he’d think she was just some chaotic girl if he knew then he wouldn’t want her anymore. She followed him to the garden, and Kath felt at some sort of peace being with Nate again. It was something about him that made her feel comfortable with him. She’d grown this care towards him, she didn’t mind being in his presence at all.

As Kath met nates friends she greeted them all, then turned to nates brother. Truth or dare is a game that could fit all ages, but everyone knows how ruthless these truths or dares could be. It could turn the whole game into pure chaos, Kath had a gut feeling that chaos was the one thing that was going to unfold tonight.

The Gryffindor had taken a seat and watched as the bottle spun and landed on Mrs blondie, Nate’s brother had asked her a simple question who’s ur crush? Kath had her icy eyes on her and Kath had caught the hint, she liked Nate but had denied it. So little Mrs blondie was after my man, Kath thought.

Something about that irritated her, Kath hates love triangles but she loved a good challenge. She wasn’t gonna let blondie try to take Nate, Something about Nate made him worth fighting over. Kath showed no bother at all but watched blondie intently. It seems everyone caught onto blondie's lies except one person, Nate.

How was he clueless? It's pretty obvious. Kath looked at Nate then back at lama or whatever her name was, Kath couldn’t care less. She was the complete opposite of Kath though. Blondie looked like one of those girls that were goody two shoes with a perfect life and cares about everything. Whilst Katherine was Katherine, The complete opposite of blondie.

This made Kath wonder a bit, it made her get lost in her thoughts like what if she was a better match with Nate and all, it made Kath zone out for a second and then came back. Why think all these thoughts though? Kath was curious at those sudden feelings and responses to them. Kath spoke ” How about you kiss nick or sam whichever of your choosing”,

Kath gave off a devilish smirk with mischief and chaos sparkling in her eyes. She was starting to get into the mood of the game did Nate’s brother actually think he’s the only one who can cause chaos? Then he really still doesn't know Kath, What surprised Kath though was how a bit protective she was being over Nate. Maybe he really was worth caring for.

Nate knew his brother was just teasing him but he hated to see him flirting with Katherine. But he swallowed it and didn't let on. He wouldn't let his brother have that fun. But all that was quickly forgotten when he saw Kath, with her cake and guitar. He saw the blush that had come to her face and had to grin. She was not a good liar. He picked up the guitar" Mhm, whatever." He didn't believe her, but would let it rest for now. He carefully stowed it away in the living room. It felt good to have Katherine near him again. It was so pleasantly carefree with her and he had really missed that. He loved his friends and spending time with them, but there was something about Katherine that was just special.

The night started with lots of laughter, food and good humour. But Nate his brother loved to cause a little chaos and he probably couldn't wait. Or rather, he wanted to witness it before he left. After Lana had answered the now really simple question untruthfully, a punishment now awaited her. And to Nate's surprise, it was Katherine who made a suggestion, which was accepted by all. Sam and Nick laughed out loud at Katherine's words and formed a kissing mouth and made kissing noises. "Lana, which one of us would you rather kiss?" continued Nick laughing and Nate had to shake his head laughing.

Lana looked at the boys in disgust and glanced at Nate who was amused by the whole thing. It seemed to upset her and she looked at Nate's brother. "Well, I might as well kiss you if the decision is mine." Nick and Sam were snorting with laughter even louder now and Nate joined in too, which only made Lana's head turn red. She had hoped that Nate would probably get jealous. But the young Russian hadn't even noticed that he was her crush. Besides, Lana was like a sister to him and no kiss would make him jealous. Nate's brother looked at her with a grin, "I know it's hard to resist me but I'm too old for you. Nick or Sam it is." Lana rolled her eyes, stood up and grabbed Nick's head with both hands. "I hate you idiots." She said before kissing him.

The other boys started laughing and clapping. "ENCORE! ENCORE!" they shouted in chorus. After the spectacle was over Lana spun the bottle. Nate's brother had to reveal who he had kissed last. Nick just had to run up and down the street in his underwear and finally the bottle landed on Lana again. After the last few rounds caused less chaos, Nates brother took hist last chance before he would leave. "After everyone wanted to see an encore, kiss Nate." Nate snapped his eyes open and looked at his brother with a look of rage. "What the fuck bro?" He couldn't be serious. Lana didn't seem to mind any of this, of course. He looked at her and raised his hands. "No, No, No. You already kissed Nick, that's enough kisses for you tonight." Before Lana could protest, his brother spoke up. He knew, of course, that Nate would react that way.

"Okay, so a punishment for you." Grinned Nate's brother, "Go one." Replied Nate annoyed. "Jump in the pool." Nate rolled his eyes and stood up. "Whatever." He set off and took off his shirt as his brother added "Naked." Nate stopped and looked at him. He could see in his grin that he meant it. Nick and Sam had already burst out laughing and Lana grinned sheepishly. "Really?" "Really." Nate took a deep breath, walked to the pool and took off his pants. His shoes and socks until he was standing there in just his underwear. "I know it's hard not to look, but when you see that body, you just want more." He joked now addressing his boys before looking at Katherine for a millisecond. He couldn't believe his own brother was exposing him like this. "Go on and play." He urged the others before turning and now taking off his boxers and jumping into the pool.

Nate dived into the freezing water and when he surfaced he groaned loudly. "Damn that's cold. I hate you bro!" Nate meanwhile grabbed his pants and put them on underwater. His brother hadn't mentioned how long he would have to be exposed. While Nate was in the pool, the bottle kept spinning and it landed on Katherine. If she chose Dare, Nate's brother would ask her to sit on Sam's lap and cuddle with him for a bit until Nate got out of the pool. If she took Truth, he would ask if she had looked away or if she had stared at Nates bare bottom. If she didn't answer the question or fulfil the dare, her punishment would be to jump into the pool with Nate. (Dressed)

Kath watched as Nick and sam made fun of Lana about the kissing challenge Kath had offered up. Which caused the Gryffindor to relax a bit, Up until blondie suggested kissing Nate’s older brother. Could that be one of her moves to get Nate jealous? Kath wondered. She watched as blondie got rejected by Nate’s brother. It really wasn't looking too good for her.

Which in a way amused Kath, Blondie finally decided to kiss Nick after all her attempts failed. Poor girl but Kath had no remorse if she was being honest. Kath just showed that she was amused with the whole situation. Her round had ended and as soon as they spinned the bottle it had landed on her again.

What was this luck,Kath thought. What Nate’s brother suggested next irritated Kath. Kath was sure Mrs blondie wouldn't give up the opportunity of a heavenly kiss with Nate. Katherine was glad she learnt Russian to understand what Nate had said. A part of her was happy that he didn't like this either. The look Nate gave his brother showed it all.

After all, that blondie still approached Nate, Kath was pissed and Lama girl didn’t help with it but instead pour gasoline onto the fire. Although Kath hid her temper by being stoic and watching the scene in front of her. Lara here really wanted a death wish from Kath, But Nate had also rejected her as she was going for it.

Kath felt like she could take a breath again, The Gryffindor was holding back a victorious laugh from erupting out loud. Nate had a punishment for rejecting his friend, Katherine giggled at the scene occurring. She watched as he stripped his shirt and then pants, It’s hard to deny but Kath was holding herself back from drooling.

He was really a sight for sore eyes, the way he just looked perfect and hard to resist but as much as she would have wanted to continue checking him out. She had averted her eyes as, soon as he took his final garment off. Kath chuckled at Nate’s hate for his brother, The Gryffindor watched as it was her turn to choose truth or dare.

” Dare”,Katherine answered with full confidence only to get a lame dare, She could have done it but what Nate did with blondie meant that Kath should do the same and return his loyalty. Kath rolled her eyes” yea no thanks”, As soon as she heard her punishment she showed no protest at all she wasn’t going to give Nate’s brother the reaction he wants.

Even though Kath wanted to murder him now more than ever, she started taking off her jewellery and placed them in her bag and walked to the pool and took off her heels, kicking them to the side. Kath took a few steps behind her and then dived into the pool, As she resurfaced quickly she used her hands to slick back any loose hair on her face.

She had now looked at Nate ” I guess I have joined you as a punishment, you weren’t lying it’s freezing”, She let out a chuckle, to not worry Nate too much. But in her head, she was thinking of a million ways to murder his brother. Hours of effort put into her looks are gone. That was probably the main reason she was annoyed, but other than that it wasn’t too bad.

The Gryffindor splashed a little water on Nate to tease him, letting out a small laugh. ” you’re not too frozen are you?” she asked in genuine worry that Nate was freezing in the pool. She had a soft smirk looking at Nate which made her forget about the cold sensation of the pool as her thoughts were distracted by the handsome boxer in front of her.

This evening could mean a lot of fun or it could also end up in this whole chaos becoming a disaster. After the last evening with Katherine had already ended in a bit of a mess, he really hoped that today would turn out differently. But the icy cold water hardly let him think. He submerged himself once more, hoping he would get used to the temperature. Meanwhile, the game continued and fortunately for Nate, he didn't catch what Katherine was being asked to do in her dare.

His eyes feasted as the beautiful girl joined him by the pool, kicking her shoes off her feet. There was a devilish smile on his lips, nothing in the world would make him stop her. Amazed, he watched her take a running start and jump into the cold water with him and dive off. The moment Katherine resurfaced was like a slow motion movie. Her wet face came out of the water and her hands brushed her wet hair back. This girl knew exactly what she was doing and it had exactly that effect on the Russian boy.

"But it's nice to have company." He replied with a cheeky smile. She was beautiful even when completely drenched and he couldn't stop looking at her. It made her even more attractive that she had taken this punishment and jumped in the water with her elaborate outfit with him. He didn't know which Dare or Truth she had refused, but it was worth it. At least to him. He laughed out loud as she splashed him with water. "So now we're getting sassy?" He put on a dangerous look before his lips turned back into his devilish smile. "Frozen? Not at all." He replied, looking her down again seriously before suddenly diving under, making an arm and leg motion to her and grabbing her by the legs.

Nate pulled her legs away but quickly reappeared with her. He was very close to her now, looking into her eyes from above. "There is no way I could feel cold right now." He spoke softly and looked at her lips. He didn't know if he was imagining it or if it was real but her lips already seemed blue from the cold. Or maybe he just wanted to see that, to have a reason to give her warmth. "We need to get you out of here, your lips are already blue." He took her in a hug and floated her through water to the pool. There he lifted her out of the water with ease and set her down on the edge of the pool. Nate propped himself up with one hand and hopped out of the water. He grabbed his dry top and quickly walked back over to Katherine. He held out his hand so he could help her stand up. He put it around her shoulders and took her in a one-armed hug to warm her somehow. "Come on, let's get you inside quickly and under a warm shower."

"And that's my cue. Kids, have a good time yet, don't fool around. See you tomorrow." With these words, Nate's brother said goodbye and walked through the garden gate to the street where his friends were picking him up in the car. "Guys, we're going to go and change quickly." Said Nate to the group of friends, who by now had unpacked a card game and knew how to keep themselves well occupied.

The big Russian led Katherine through the house, to the stairs, up to his room. There he took a towel and put it around her. "Do you want something of mine to wear?" he asked as he rummaged in his wardrobe. "Anyway, here's my bathroom, you're welcome to take a hot shower if you like." He showed her the room and would give her some privacy so she could freshen up again. Folding up a pair of black sweatpants and a hoodie, he opened the bathroom door a crack and laid it out for her on the floor, out of sight of anything in the room. Just in case she did want to put something of his on.

In the meantime, he took a quick shower at his brother's, did his hair quickly and put on a similar outfit that he had give Katherine. Then he went to his room and lay down on his bed, where he waited for her to come out of the bathroom again.

Kath gave a devilish smirk with a challenging look in her icy eyes after Nate's comment about her being sassy. She enjoyed teasing him in any way possible, she’d always take the opportunity to do so. The Gryffindor was surprised that he wasn’t cold after waiting in the pool for this long, Nate had taken Kath by surprise when he had swam and grabbed her leg.

Kath resurfaced almost the same time as he did, she slicked back any loose hair and looked at him with a chuckle. He was closer than before, she looked up at him and noticed how he had looked at her lips. That tension of kissing him returned, and she realised how much she had missed that feeling.

But what shook her out of her trance was how he mentioned her lips were blue, so he didn’t want to kiss. Interesting, Kath thought. But she didn’t realise if her lips were blue, it didn’t feel freezing. Her fingers had reached up to touch her lips subconsciously, and then Kath had wrapped her arms around Nate’s neck as he had lifted her to the edge of the pool.

She watched as he got out of the pool and got her his old t-shirt, she took his hand to stand up but as soon as she stood up she was hit with the cold air. She was glad he had wrapped his t-shirt around her. But something about that stunt made her question him, why would he do all this? She held onto the t-shirt wrapped around her as he took her into a one-arm hug.

She nodded in reply to his order, But her mind was occupied with all these thoughts. What made him care so much whether she gets warm or not? Something about his care was just pure sweetness and it showed it came from his heart, but the big question is why. He wasn’t forced to care.

She had snapped out of it when they had arrived at his room, She had taken off the t-shirt that was wrapped around her and had given it to Nate, then took the towel he offered. She took a glance over his room. Not bad she thought, It was definitely way different than her room or to say her floor that she has back at her manor.

His house was smaller than it but it was cosy, the design was alright too but also way different than the manor. The manor was black in black with some beiges and some french tapestry edged in the walls. But it was dark, the look of the manor from just the outside edged anyone away from it. It fit the Labrouders perfectly, it showed how they are in a way. She replied with a simple sure to nates offer of his clothes.

She muttered a thank you as she entered his bathroom, She saw the outfit he had placed for her. She was glad the outfit was black, it seemed he had already gotten used to her style. She had turned the shower, put it on the hot water and then stripped from her old dress, Folding it and placing it on the side.

She had gone in the shower and drenched herself in the hot water, She had placed it on the hottest option there was. Not because she was cold but because she enjoyed the slight sting of it, As she let her head hang in the hot water. Her mind couldn’t help but reminisce over every moment she had with Nate so far.

As she did, a weird feeling in her stomach submerged, what was the word for it? Yes, butterflies. As soon as she got them she had shaken her head slightly to get out of her thoughts. She wasn’t much of a fan of this foreign feeling she got. Kath hurried up a bit, she mentally cursed that she didn’t have any of her shower products.

She had used what she found, they all smelt like Nate. Katherine had no choice but to use them, as soon as she had gotten out she wrapped a towel around herself so she can dry herself. The hot water caused her to be way more relaxed than before. It was exactly what she needed. She started getting dressed into nates outfit.

Kath looked at herself in the mirror, she looked ridiculous she thought to herself. The outfit was way large on her. It caused it to look extremely oversized over her petite figure. Her hair had returned to its original beautiful natural beach waves. She got out of the bathroom using the towel to dry her hair.

Her ice eyes looked at Nate who was laying in his bed,” hey, I hope you don’t mind but I used your products since I didn’t bring mine”, She stopped drying her hair with the towel and placed it neatly on the side. She looked at him and gave a soft smirk ” What do you think? How do I look?”, She placed a hand on her waist and gave a slight pose and let out a soft chuckle.

Giving him a little tease of the outfit she wore. She then would walk closer to the bed that Nate sat on, She got closer to him and looked at his beautiful blue eyes that she also missed dearly. She’d give off a cheeky smirk with a mischievous glint in her eyes and give him a soft kiss on his cheek” thank you for all of this”,

The Gryffindor would return to look into his adoring eyes to catch a reaction from him. She really enjoyed teasing him whenever she could.” I hope I didn’t take long in there, maybe we should go and catch up with the other guys, they’d be missing you by now”, She’d give him a teasing wink then look at the direction of the door.

Nate couldn't take his eyes off the beauty who had just come out of his bathroom. "Not at all." He replied. He liked having his scent on her, he could get used to it. "And you look gorgeous. It almost suits you better than me." He laughed and sat up. There she was, in his room, his clothes, his shower gel smell on her skin. He liked the look of it, he couldn't deny that. It was a strange feeling. The tall Russian was not inexperienced when it came to girls (and boys too) and he knew he had a crush on Katherine but this was unlike any other time before. She had him wrapped around her finger and the idea of the two of them not having contact triggered unease in him. He really wanted her but he didn't know if she felt the same way. He loved the games between him and her but maybe it really was just a game to her.

But tonight would not be the night he would worry about that. No, he would enjoy the games with her and start the new year without chaos in his mind. With her by his side, let it be so, even just for this moment. But now he was in this moment, alone with her. Her beautiful eyes looked straight into his and he couldn't help but return the cheeky smirk. "Not for this." He replied, but if he got a kiss for it every time, he would do it every other day.

"They certainly miss you already, too. But maybe I just don't care." He replied and winked before he reached around her legs with his arms and with one swing knocked her off balance and tossed her to him on the bed. Nate was strong and while he would never hurt Katherine, he liked the fact that he could probably carry her around with one arm. But back to reality, he laughed out loud as she fell onto his soft bed. "Sorry, I just wanted to show you how comfortable it is here." He knew it was silly, but he just wanted to spend this short time alone with her still. "But I guess you're right. We should go back downstairs."

The tall boy quickly got up from his bed, reached out his hand to Katherine and lifted her back to her feet. "Sorry again, but to be honest it's just fun. It's different from my other opponents, you're light as a feather." This time he winked and held the door from his room open for her, waiting for her to go out into the hallway. The two walked down the stairs into the garden where loud laughter could be heard. "Oh look at you two, partner look!" greeted Nick again. "Yeah, like ying and yang" Sam joined in laughing and as Nate looked first at himself and then down at Katherine, he too started laughing.

They spent the rest of the evening playing cards, eating, telling silly jokes and embarrassing stories. Every now and then Nate glanced furtively at Katherine. He hoped she was comfortable and having fun with him and his friends. He liked having her here and hoped she did too. He also knew that his friends liked Katherine, even if she would need some time to warm up to them. Well, even if Lana and Katherine were another matter.

The last few hours until midnight flew by and soon they were all standing there counting down from 10. "3, 2, 1... HAPPY NEW YEAR!" they shouted in chorus and a colourful spectacle opened up in the sky. Nate hugged all his friends, they wished each other a Happy New Year and marvelled at the beautiful, colourful sky. After hugging everyone, he went to Katherine and gave her a hug too. He gathered all his courage and looked at her. "Happy new year Katherine. I wouldn't mind a New Year's kiss." He winked at her and tried not to blush. He was completely serious, but he already suspected she would decline.

Kath had chuckled at nates compliment, She was certain nates friends were starting to miss him. Kath thought he must have wanted to go down too, his response surprised Kath she raised an eyebrow at him with a devilish smirk. Was he already wrapped around her finger? Kath thought to herself.

But her thoughts were already gone as in seconds she was tossed on his bed, startling her. She supported herself with her hands, and she laughed at his poor excuse of tossing her on the bed. He wasn’t that slick but she couldn’t deny how adorable he was. She watched as he got up from his bed and helped her stand back up.

” Getting confident now are we? It’s fine”, she let out a chuckle as she replied then walked out the door and waited for him so they could go together. As soon as they arrived in the garden they were greeted by the rest. Kath didn’t understand Nick’s comment and looked at Nate’s outfit and then back at hers.

She didn’t quite get it but still laughed to not make it awkward, The Gryffindor sat with them and listened to their jokes and stories, she didn’t speak much about herself. Rarely she did but it was only because she was so different from them. They radiated some sort of positivity and kindness with good lives and fun stories all happy memories.

Therefore she couldn’t pitch in and talk, but she listened to what they all had to say and laughed when it was needed. Lucky for her, being raised stoic and all, it was easy for her to hide her emotions while looking natural. Kath did that for the sake of Nate, but naturally, she would have been her natural self without caring if they were sad or not from her reactions.

But for Nate’s sake, she needed a reputation to keep, especially with his friends. Plus she enjoyed nates company a lot. So she wasn’t going to ruin anything. They all stood counting for New Year’s, Kath was definitely not used to that and never did that. New years for her was normal due to her family not celebrating.

The Gryffindor was quite curious about what would happen after the countdown, that's why she hadn’t joined them in counting. But waited to see a beautiful display of fireworks in the sky, filling the dark night with a gorgeous display of colours. She guessed that's how people celebrated, her eyes were mesmerised by the beautiful sky.

But that was only for a few seconds till she blinked and went back to normal. To not look dumb in front of them all. Everyone was already hugging each other and wishing each other a happy new year till she saw Nate come up to her. One thing she did know was people usually kiss on New years, but she found it quite useless. Why kiss for New Year’s Eve when you can just kiss each other for the passion of it?

She had an instinct that Nate would ask her, that’s why she hugged him back wished him a happy new year and before he finished his sentence. She walked away and hugged Nick, Sam and whatever her name was again. Wishing them all a happy New Year’s Eve, she gave it a few minutes for everyone to settle.

Kath knew Nate must have felt rejected or pissed for her move, she tried showing as if she didn’t mean to. But she had other plans that would compromise it. She would give a slight facepalm then have a worried look on her face ” Guys shit I think I forgot that I hung my dress on one hanger I found in the bathroom but it got stuck, ill take Nate to see it and we will be back I apologise”, she gave an apologetic look then would grab nates hand and lead him back to his room.

Was her dress stuck? of course not. But she would compromise the rejection she gave him there. As soon as she was there she opened the door till both of them got in then shut it back. She wouldn’t move sort of attempting to trap Nate with her tiny body, shed have an amused smirk on her face as she would look at his blue eyes.

Then tiptoe and wrap her arms around his neck, one moved up to the back of his head, her fingers entangling in his soft curly hair. Pushing his head a bit down to close the space between them. Her eyes darted to his lips and in seconds she closed the space between them. Pressing her soft lips onto his, engulfing him in a passionate and meaningful long kiss.

She kept her other hand at the back of his neck, while the other played through his curls. As soon as he wanted more she’d break it off, and look into his blue eyes reading his reaction to her action. This wasn’t her first kiss, that’s why she was a good kisser.” I intentionally dodged the kiss you wanted from me at New Year’s, because I wanted a more meaningful one than just a simple New Year’s kiss”,

Kath stood there reading any reaction he would give, she had a cheeky smirk and looked up at his hair and ruffled it a bit and gave him a cheeky wink” Sorry if you thought I rejected you there”, she would give a soft chuckle and keep eye contact with him. She felt the tension rise more than ever in that single moment, The essence of the kiss still lingering on her soft lips.
