A New Friend Pet

For a long time, Julie’s parents have been recommending her to get a pet. However, Julie has always preferred peace, and dislikes the idea of having a noisy creature beside her all the time. Also, she never considered herself as a responsible person, so she doesn’t really think that she can be trusted to look after a pet.

This time, when Julie traveled to Diagon Alley again in search of some school supplies, she finally decided to take a look inside the pets shop, but mainly just because she wants to show her parents that she really doesn’t need a pet to keep her company at school.

As she entered the shop, the first species is Toads. Who would ever want a toad as a pet?! Julie thought in disbelief, meanwhile shooting a disgusted look at that section. She quickly hurried on to the next section, which is Owls. “Owls are extremely useful for message deliveries. I’d suggest that you buy an owl, then you won’t have to borrow the school’s owls to send letters back to us anymore. Her father immediately seized this chance to emphasize the importance of an owl. Seriously? Julie couldn’t help but rolled her eyes secretly. Just exactly how much does her father love owls? He keeps on saying how great and helpful owls are, even before she started school at Hogwarts.

“Nope, I think I’d look through all the other animals first.” Julie muttered, and then moved on again to the third section — Cats. Once she entered this section, a white shadow instantly captured her attention. She turned around and saw a silver-white cat playing with a fur ball. It looked up at Julie, its eyes shining with curiosity and interest.

Although she didn’t want to admit it, Julie suddenly had a intimate feeling towards this cat she has just met. Seems that she was indeed wrong about pets before. “Umm… How about a cat? They’re more interesting than owls.” Julie asked her father cautiously, just in case he disagreed, she added, “Not that owls aren’t great pets, but I’m perfectly fine with using school owls.”

Her father looked down at Julie for a while, then although disappointed, agreed: “Sure. It’s your pet, you can buy whatever you want. But make sure that you’ll take good care of it.” “Thanks, Dad!” Julie breathed out a sighed of relief, “I promise that I’ll look after it carefully!” “What do you want to name it?” Her father asked, curiously.

Julie lowered her head to think for a while, then replied: “I think… I’ll name her Mystique, after the character in X-Men.” “Are you sure?” Her father shook his head in disbelief. Who could possibly believe that a girl could like X-Men to the extent that she wants to name her cat after it? “Like I said, it’s completely up to you. But you’d better not regret your choice if it turned into another color one day!” Her father joked.

A few minutes later, Julie walked out of the shop excitedly. She can’t wait to show her new pet to all her friends at Hogwarts!
