It's Just a Ball of Fluff
Aisley wanted a pet. More specifically, she wanted a bunny. Her step-brother, Jack, never understood why she wanted a rabbit, claiming that there were much cooler animals to have as a pet, like a spider, snake, owl, or cat. He thought bunnies were useless.August 30th, 2022
Her sister, Marianne, couldn't care less. 'Get what you want Ais. Don't let Jack bully you into what he thinks is cool. What does he know anyways? He almost failed three of his exams last year!' She had said.
Her younger brother wanted a lizard for his pet. 'A rabbit is cool I guess, but I want a lizard when I'm eleven! I'm gonna name it Ozzy and we're going to be best friends!' Of course, James is only nine, and who is Aisley to crush her little brothers' dreams?
Isla on the other hand had thought that the pygmy puffs were little stuffed animals. As soon as she was shown a picture of the small puffball, she wanted one and who was her mother to deny such a thing to the four-year-old girl? Isla got the pygmy puff as soon as she had asked. Once the pygmy puff was in her possession, she named it Mrs. Sparkle Puff. And boy did Aisley feel bad for little Mrs. Sparkle Puff.
So that's why when she entered the Magical Menagerie in Diagon Alley to get a pet for her years at the magical school, she went straight over to where she saw the bunnies, Jack and Marianne following close behind her. Jack was still trying to convince his younger step-sister to not make the 'mistake' of buying a bunny as Marianne whacked him in the arm with her brand-new school books.
Aisley rolled her eyes at the commotion of her siblings behind her as she began to view the bunnies that the store had. There were the orange-ginger Lionhead Thumpers, the white and black Two-Colored Devil's Spawn, the silvery-grey Mist Hoppers, and finally, the pure white Magician's Accomplice. All of which were adorable.
Immediately, Aisley ruled out the possibility of the Magician's Accomplice, feeling that the particular bunnies were a tad bit too creepy for her liking. The pink-haired girl then decided that the Two-Colored Devil's Spawn was a bit too large as she moved over to the Lionhead Thumpers and the Mist Hoppers.
After about a minute of flicking her eyes between the two types of rabbits, she decided that she would let fate decide her pet. Whichever rabbit came up to her hand first, would be the one she got. With that decision in mind, Aisley put her hands up on the cages, waiting to see which bunny would come to her first.
After about five minutes, and no bunnies coming up to her hand, Aisley thought that maybe Jack was right. Maybe a bunny wasn't the right animal for her. Though just as she turned towards the older boy, her mouth opened to ask him to lead her to other animals, a small Mist Hopper from the back of the cage moved up to the front. Aisley's eyebrows furrowed in confusion and curiosity before she turned back to fully face the bunny.
It was quite a small bunny, and could easily fit into her pocket. The Mist Hopper had quite a beautiful coat of grey fur that looked almost silver in the direct light. The bunny inched a bit closer to the front of the cage as it tilted its head sideways, an indicator of curiosity.
Aisley copied to bunnies movements, moving a small bit closer before cocking her head. She slowly lifted her hand up to the cage and let to bunny become acquainted with her before reaching through the gaps to brush the smooth fur. Aisley smiled. This was the one.
"Hey Jack," she said, not lifting her eyes from the adorable bunny in front of her, "Can you go get the owner or something? I've found the one I want."Aisley heard retreating footsteps that soon returned with another pair in tow.
"Um, hello," Aisley said, facing the kind-looking elderly woman beside her before pointing at the small bunny, "I'd like to buy this one please."
The woman smiled at her and nodded, quickly retrieving the bunny she'd requested from its cage and moving toward the checkout area. On her way over, Aisley also picked up a pet bed and some Bun Bun Pellets for the bunny, hoping that those would be perfect for her new friend.
The kind woman told Aisley the total amount of money needed to pay for the Mist Hopper as Jack pulled out the Galleon pouch from their parents, paying for the rabbit and accessories. The woman then gave the new rabbit to Aisley as the trio of siblings began to walk out of the Menagerie.
"I still don't know why you wanted to buy a bunny, Aisley. I mean, they're literally just a ball of fluff!"
"Yeah, an adorable ball of fluff." Aisley said, staring in wonder at her new bunny as Marianne once again hit Jack across the head for his comments. What animal do you wish to purchase?: A Mist Hopper
