It was the 28th of December and the Christmas routine seemed to be slowly fading away. After Nate came home on the morning of 25 December, he and his brother put the presents under the Christmas tree in the big living room. He then greeted his mother with a long hug, his father with a fistbomb and after a few words he stowed his suitcase in his room and quietly slipped away to his sister. She was his heart and he watched her for a moment as she just lay in her bed, sleeping peacefully. He went to her bedside and whispered softly in her ear "Merry Christmas little bunny." It was only a few seconds before she had rolled over and took her brother into a warm hug. "Merry Christmas." She shouted loud enough for the whole house to hear and ran down the stairs in her pyjamas to the presents.

The Smirnows spent a sensual few days with family and close friends and while Nate felt a sense of peace seeing everyone happy, he was also glad when all the stress was over again and he could have a few minutes to himself undisturbed. He took advantage of the early morning and went for a relaxed run with his brother, then went to the fight club to get in one last casual workout. Nate's father reminded the two brothers not to train too hard so that they would be fit tonight. By lunch they were both home unharmed, took a cold shower and ate their mother's delicious lasagne.

The rest of the day flew by and soon Nate was back at the fight club. He, his brother and a few of his father's friends helped prepare the ring so there was plenty of seating. Even though hardly anyone would stay seated later in the evening, Nate knew how it would turn out. Everyone would stand, jump up, cheer and bawl. But he did as he was told and afterwards he changed in the dressing room. He glanced nervously at the clock. While he was usually nervous because his mind was only on the upcoming fight, this time he was nervous about something else. It was Katherine.

As discussed, he had sent her an owl with all the dates. It was just before 6pm and he texted her to be here at 6pm. The fights would take place at 6:45 and he wanted to make sure he had enough time to greet her, show her around and introduce her to some friends. But he wasn't sure if she would actually show up. Nate couldn't lie, he was really hoping to look right back into her blue eyes that were so much like his. Her devilish smile was burned into his memory and he missed the tension he had felt in the leaky cauldron that evening.

When Nate had finished changing, he stood outside the fight club at 6pm on the dot. His eyes scanned the faces that passed him or greeted him and walked in the door. Nervously he tapped his feet back and forth as if warming up, but in truth it was pure nervousness inside him. What would he do if she didn't show up?

It was the day of Nate’s match, He had sent her an owl in advance as he promised with all the dates. He also informed her to be there at 6 pm, Lucky for her it seemed like the date was perfectly made. She had just gotten into a heated argument with her father, and usually, when that happened he couldn’t care less where she went.

It’s not like he cared either way with or without the arguments, Probably because he knew she’d always come back. But who knew what really goes on in the head of Lucian, Katherine Had gotten ready. Wearing a classic black short dress that fit her like a glove, flaunting her beautiful figure. She wore a pair of high-knee boot heels that she robbed from her aunt’s closet when she last visited her.

She took her leather jacket in her hand, just in case she got cold there and packed it in her handbag. She wore her classic silver rings with her red painted nails. She made a last check she looked perfect then headed out to not be late. She had gotten to America in a matter of minutes all thanks to the great invention of floo powder.

She looked for the location, Lucky for her she was only a few minutes away from it. As she walked there, she was excited to see the match, it was her first time watching a boxing match. She was also looking forward to seeing Nate again. Something about the tension that was in their first meeting got Katherine constantly thinking about it.

It really was quite addictive, She was also curious to see how good Nate was in his sport. Was he all talk or was he actually a good player as he says? She’d find out all of it today, The fight club was just around the corner for Kath. But something made her stop in her tracks, she was starting to overthink it a bit.

Should she have come to this? She just met the guy one time and now she’s in America to view his match. Who cares now, she was already there, he was just right around the corner. She was sort of nervous to meet him again. What if he changed his mind about her, ” ugh Katherine get a grip your starting to disgust me”,she spoke to herself then took a deep breath and let it back out.

All of her thoughts were faded now and instead, she was filled with confidence. She was starting to feel hot so she took off her jacket and placed it carefully in her handbag. She turned the corner to find the entrance. Her icy eyes searched for him and easily found him. He was tapping his feet back and forth, Katherine chuckled at the sight.

She had a devilish smirk on, Her normal confidence was back. She felt bad for torturing him like that. So she went to him, ” Well we meet again Mr criminal”,she spoke as she stood in front of him. Her storm-coloured eyes were observing Nate to see his reaction. She had her devilish cheeky smirk on giving Nate a small tease before the evening starts.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest times,If one only remembers to turn on the light.

The time he waited felt like an eternity but as soon as his eyes caught the sight of her beauty he lost track of time for a moment. His blue eyes took one look at the familiar girl from top to bottom and if he didn't have such good control over his body, his jaw would drop. She was a pure beauty, she could wear what she wanted but this outfit flattered her incredibly. The closer she got, the better he could see her devilish laugh that was so burned into his memory. He smiled broadly with a raised eyebrow at her greeting. "And yet here you are." He replied and it was as if he traveled back in time and the tension from the leaky cauldron was back. "It's good to see you." He added honestly and looked her up and down once more, a smirk on his lips.

"Come on, let's go inside." He held the door open for her and waited until she had passed him. The warmth of the room immediately enveloped him and he led her to the stairs, where it was down into the fighting area. Loud shouts and screams from men could be heard. "I guess the first ones are already getting ready." Laughed as he walked down the stairs. "Did you get here well?" he inquired small-talk-wise, but he was really interested. He didn't want any trouble for her just because she was here today. As soon as the two of them arrived in the fighting area, things got louder and Nate had to raise his voice. "Currently it's still a bit chaotic, the first fighters are getting ready for their fight. The other spectators will probably come in the next thirty minutes." he explained further.

Nate took a quick tour with Katherine, showing her the locker room area and restrooms, the training area with punching bags, the fight ring and the seating areas around the ring. She would sit with him, his family and friends in the front row, on the side from which Nate and his brother will also start. "Okay, those are our seats. I'll be there at the beginning but then have to go warm up before the fight starts." he explained further to Katherine, hoping he wouldn't bore her. Just as they were taking their seats, a group of Nate's friends came up to them. "Where's our winner?" greeted Sam, a tall tanned boy with brown eyes and brown short hair to the Russian. "Hey, good to see you guys." He shook hands with Sam and Nick, another somewhat short boy with green eyes and blond curly hair, in a bro-art of greeting. He took Lana, a girl with long blonde hair that went all the way down her back, blue eyes, and a shy smile, into a hug in greeting. "Guys, this is Katherine.“ He now looked to the brown-haired beauty and winked at her."The group greeted Kath warmly. "Hi Katherine, nice to have some more support cheering Nate on." said Sam.

As the small group greeted each other, Nate's brother now arrived, already sporting a perky smile after seeing Nate and Katherine. "Ah, Nate's friend. Good to see you again." He greeted the girl and exchanged a quick glance with his little brother. But he wouldn't give him a hard time before his fight and patted him on the shoulder before leaving again. "Dad!" Called Nate to his father and the tall, broad Russian came over to his youngest son. It was immediately obvious from whom he had inherited his stature. "This is Katherine, she is a friend of Hogwarts and will be sitting with us today." His father looked at Katherine and gave her a warm smile. "Yes, I remember." Nate's father extended his hand to her, "Nice to meet you. But if you'll excuse me, I have a few things to prepare."

By now, the first audience members were trickling in. Nate got Katherine and himself something to drink and they took their seats in the front row. The first fight would begin in a few minutes. "Excited?" whispered Nate to Katherine, who sat to his right. He had the far left seat, so he could just stand up afterwards and be right in the aisle. "Katherine, is this your first fight?" asked Lana, "I remember the first time I went to a fight. I was terrified for Nate and the boys. Those fights can be really brutal." she continued and by the look on her face, she was still scared now. "Also nonsense Lana, don't worry Katherine!" reassured Sam, "It's all not that bad and Nate knows what he's doing." As Nate's friends talked his mind wandered, he noticed the nervousness rising in him and he started cracking his knuckles in his hands.

A few minutes later, Nate's father was standing in the middle of the ring. He greeted the full hall and announced the first fight. The fights will start with the lowest age group and increase accordingly. The smallest are protected all over the body, head and are only allowed to do ground fighting, no punches. Nate was always happy for the little ones, he can remember all too well what it was like for him back then to be cheered on by all those people. "Whooooo!" shouted Nate loudly, cheering on the little fighters. Two more fights passed, then Nate leaned in to Katherine "I have to go now." he whispered to her and went to the back of the training area to warm up. His brother was already waiting for him, coaching him through the workout and hype him up.

"Our next match will be our home boxer Nate Smirnov against Alexander Wood." The crowd roared and the loudest Nate could hear was his brother and Sam. But after the announcement, he blanked everything out and focused only on himself and his opponent. he put on his gumshield. They also had to wear protection for their heads. In his age group, besides ground fighting, only punches and kicks to the body were allowed (which will be different tonight) but for safety it was still mandatory to wear the protective gear. The bell rang and the fight began. Nate circled his head one last time and his eyes stared into those of his opponent and he could see the fear flashing in him for a second. That was the moment Nate knew it would be his win. He smirked devilishly, just as he did with Katherine. He dashed forward, planting a kick into Wood's gut. The latter lost his balance and fell to the ground. Nate seized the opportunity and put Wood in a choke hold until he tapped off. Nate got up, went back to his corner. His brother massaged his shoulder. "Good job! This is going to be an easy fight for you." And Nate's brother was to be proven right. He won the next three rounds as well, and in the end was crowned the winner of the fight.

Nate had five minutes to catch his breath before the second fight would begin. His father and brother tended to him. "Listen Nate, Brown will be your next opponent. You know he fights unfair, don't forget that." his father prepared him. Before announcing the fight of Nate and Charles Brown. Nate knew it wouldn't be as easy as the first one. The bell rang and Nate could see the dirty laugh of Charles. This time there was no fear in his eyes, it was pure joy. Nate knew this fight was going to be nasty. Charles walked up to him and put the first punches into the sides of Nate, which he successfully blocked and kicked the boy away from him. The two exchanged a few punches, there were no takedowns in the first round and the bell rang for the end of the first round. "Nate, you have to get to him, take him to the ground. You outclass him on the ground." his brother said to him and already the next bell rang.

The two exchanged a few punches again and Nate managed to get in his back, but Brown was able to break free, turned around and kicked between Nate's legs with his knee. The russian boy doubled over in pain and immediately there were screams from Nate's brother, Sam and Nick. "THAT'S A FOUL!" Shouted all at the same time and the ref paused the round. Nate's brother took his little brother by the shoulders and stood him back up. "Nate, breathe." he tried to help him. He looked up toward Charles and there was pure hatred in his eyes. Nate already knew he wasn't going to get a foul. Charles knew what he was doing, he made it look like he wanted to place the knee in his stomach but it was pure intent, he knew it. And so it was, the round continued with no foul for Charles. The rage boiled inside Nate and there was no stopping it. His fists flew through the air, left, right, left, right. A kick and another right. He had Brown cornered, who was only on defense. But before Nate could continue, the bell rang. End of round two.

"Yes Nate, you got him now. Keep it up, the fight is yours." Nate's brother was almost yelling and the final round began. As before, Nate cornered Brown. Punches and kicks hit his opponent, the anger was still in his eyes. Just before Nate took him to the ground, Charles took a swing. He opened his guard, which Nate took advantage of. But Brown held it out and lunged for another foul. His fist flew straight at Nate's nose. The area of the face that was not protected. Nate bit down on his mouth guard in pain and his eyes almost glowed red with rage. Blood dripped from his nose, but he didn't let it stop him. He grabbed him and slammed him to the ground with full force, Nate following. He fixed him and took him in a leveraged grip, heedless of the pain. He knew Brown wouldn't tap, so he didn't care. He had him in that hold until the ref stopped the fight.

Nate now took in the screams throughout the room for the first time. He let go of Brown and leaned down to him. "Don't fuck with a Smirnow." He whispered to him before pushing him down again and leaning on him to stand up. The two stood side by side and when the winner was announced, Nate's arm was raised in the air. Nate smiled broadly, the blood from his nose running down his lips and his mouth guard showing. He cheered and his brother came up to him and cheered with him.

She saw as he smiled at her greeting, She softly chuckled at his reply. Yet here she was, in America, watching his match. She noticed him checking her from top to bottom which boosted her confidence a bit more.” It good to see you too”, placing a soft smirk on her face.

He invited her to go in and held the door for her, as she passed him she thanked him for holding the door for her then she waited for him so they could walk together. She followed him down the stairs to the fighting area, she didn’t know much about any of this so it was better if she just stayed following him.

As she followed him down she could hear the fighter’s shouts and screams. Kath was wondering if that was normal, till Nate commented about them getting ready. She let out a simple Oh, not knowing how to react to any of that.” mhm”, she replied to his question about her arriving here well. Did she mean it? not really, but she didn’t need to worry him before his match.

It was something for her to deal with. Whether or not her father cared where she was at all, it was all hers to deal with. As they arrived at the fighting arena, it was extremely noisy due to all the fighters. She nodded in response to Nate’s information, she was listening closely to him so she knows what was happening.

He had given her a tour of the place, and seeing the training equipment was interesting. She was curious about all this and interested to know more. He’d shown her the seating area where she was to sit and observe the matches. She replied with a simple ok to him, She hadn’t spoken much but at the same time, she didn’t know how to reply.

She didn’t want it to seem as if she was bored or so because she was very interested in everything he had to say. As soon as she was gonna take a seat a group of Nate’s friends came to greet him. Two guys and a girl, one was tall and tanned and another short and the girl was blonde with blue eyes.

She was surprised he’d introduced her to his group of friends but didn’t show it, She gave a soft smirk to greet them, instead of her serious face. She didn’t want them to have a bad impression of her since Nate had introduced her and she didn’t want to make him look bad. But anyone who knew Kath deeply knew one problem. She was absolute shit at small talk and anything she says would turn out cold whether she wanted to sound like that or not. Or she’d give an intimidating aura to her. What a wonderful start she thought sarcastically. ” hello, ah yes the more the better”, she gave off a chuckle. She saw a familiar face greeting her, Nate’s brother. She remembered him from the teasing he gave Nate in the leaky cauldron.

” Good to see you too, Nate’s brother”, she had a devilish smirk on. Up until she heard Nate call his dad, Usually to meet his parents it would take a long time to meet each other and get closer. But this was her second meeting with Nate and she was already meeting his dad.

He was tall and board it was easy to see that Nate had inherited that feature from his father. Nate had introduced her to his father, thankfully she didn’t need to do much. ” nice to meet you too sir”, She shook his father’s hand and then watched as he left. Well, it could have gotten way worse she thought to herself.

They had finally gotten their drinks and sat next to each other, Kath whispered back a simple yes to Nate, then her attention turned to the blondie ” Ah yes it is”, she gave a soft smirk. The blondie continued to rant about how terrified she was and all, katherine also read that she still is currently scared.

Katherine gave a simple ” Is that so”, Kath hated small talk because of her inability to make it, and them being strangers to her didn’t help it. Katherine slowly stopped giving them attention and instead, it went to Nate. ” Mhm I bet he does I’m not worried much”, She let them chatter and her attention went to Nate. Her icy eyes looked at him.

It was clear he was nervous, She watched as he cracked his fingers. She placed one hand gently on his hands and caressed them slowly. As she turned and whispered softly to Nate ” Don’t worry you can do it, I believe in you”, She looked into his beautiful blue eyes and gave him a soft smirk.

She watched as his father came on to greet everyone, she’d removed her hand and placed it back onto her lap. She watched intently and listened to instructions and all, She watched as the younger aged fighters started. Everyone was cheering them, two matches have passed till Nate informed Katherine that he'd go.” good luck”, she replied to him then continued watching.

The blondie wasn’t lying it was brutal, But something else was occupying Kath’s mind. If her father would really ask where she was or if he’d care enough. Or even her mother, She’d check if they’d texted her or anything but nothing. She was in another country and they haven’t bothered to ask her where she went or where she was going.

Her face was stoic as she was busy with her thoughts up until something broke her off them. The announcement of Nate’s match. Everyone was cheering now in excitement for his match, It was a nice view to watch. She hoped he wasn’t too nervous or scared about this match. He really could do anything he put his mind to. she watched closely in his match and Kath clapped when he was announced the winner after the three rounds. He really was a good fighter, she watched as there was a 5-minute break till the next match.

Kath had noticed Nate’s opponent, She could scan trouble from miles away and that guy was it. She knew his opponent is up to no good, Which got her to start worrying. She wished for this match to end safely as much as it can. In The first round, nothing much happened in it, although the second was worse, the guy had hurt Nate and it was very painful from what it seemed.

She heard his brother shout stating that Charle’s move was a foul. Katherine worried for Nate, He had to stand back up and take revenge she stood up and she spoke the loudest she could possibly go and said ” GO NATE, YOU CAN DO IT”,. She watched as he stood back up and continued it was long after till the bell rang and the second round was over. It comforted Kath that Nate hasn’t given up and still has the energy to fight.

She then sat back down and continued to watch intensely, the third round wasn’t easy either, the guy had aimed for Nate’s nose and successfully landed the punch causing Nate’s nose to bleed. Soon after the round ended, As soon as Nate was announced the winner, she was relieved. She stood up and clapped with a devilish smirk on her, Finally, the stress was over.

She was very proud of Nate, it really was one intense sport. Hours must have passed she thought and decided to check if anyone has managed to message her. She saw and it was nothing, blank. She scoffed and muttered whatever and returned her attention to Nate.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest times,If one only remembers to turn on the light.

Nate stood in the ring with a bleeding nose and grinned. The blood had run down his lips to his chin, but he didn't care. He had won despite Charles' lazy tricks and as he was cheered his eyes fell on the brown-haired beauty who stood out so much in the room. There she stood, clapping for him, with the devilish smile that he himself had missed so much. He put on the same smile, his gaze fixed only on her. After a few seconds, the boys were released from the ring and Nate was met by his brother and father, who congratulated him. He thanked them both, but still squinted in Katherine's direction. He saw her looking at her phone and looking kind of disappointed or annoyed.

After Nate had taken off his protectors and gumshield, he finally went to join his friends. Sam and Nick came bawling towards him, each hoisting him up on one arm and celebrating him. Nate laughed from the bottom of his heart and thanked his friends for their support. Lana stayed somewhat reserved in the background, but as soon as the boys had set him back down on the ground, she strode to him and fell around his neck. Lana took the big boy into a hug. "Oh Nate, congratulations on your victory!" She now took his face in both her hands and looked into his eyes. "I was worried after all, does it hurt badly?" While Lana's full attention was on Nate, his gaze was on Katherine throughout the entire process. He looked into hers with his blue eyes and grinned cheekily. "Yeah, yeah,no big deal." the Russian dismissed Lana's concern and walked over to Katherine. "I hope the fight didn't bore you too much." He said with a raised eyebrow, trying not to be too obvious about her distraction on the mobile phone. He didn't really have to care, but the curiosity in him won out.

"Wanna help me with my nose?" asked Nate Katherine and depending on how she would answer, he would let her do the job or let Nick do it. He accompanied his friends to the back of the locker room and got some ice and water. Nate washed his face and took off his t-shirt, which was dripping with blood. There were a few bruises on his torso. He was sweaty and his abs shiny from the sweat on his skin. "Okay, let's do it." Nate sat down on the bench and picked up a towel. "You just need to move it back into the old position." He said to Katherine or Nick, depending on her response. Nick had done it a few times before and could help her with it. Nate took the towel between his teeth, took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "Go on, do it." He mumbled into the towel, barely audible.

As soon as the crack was heard, pain ripped through his body. He squinted his eyes and groaned into the towel. It took a little while, but soon the pain was no longer so sharp and he let his tense muscles relax. "Thank you." He said almost exhaustedly and drank half a litre of water in one go. In the meantime, the fighting had progressed and it was now the final battles that were due. That meant Nate's father himself would soon be in the ring. Nate freshened up a bit and then rejoined the group to go back to their seats. He cheered his father on, it was a wonder how he could still have voice after that. It was no surprise, but of course Nate's father had won, the Smirnows remained undefeated today, all together.

As soon as the competition was over, Nate and his brother would help clean up. "Don't worry Dad, we'll finish up here and then we'll meet up at the boys' house afterwards. We'll come home later." Nate could hear his brother talking to their father and shortly after he said goodbye to everyone. Nate and his brother had a key to the fight club and so their plan worked. "Good job." Nate said to his brother and moved the last of the chairs aside. He walked over to Katherine, "Sorry it took a while to clean up now. I hope you weren't bored." Nate really hoped she was having a good time and he took it upon himself to spend the rest of the time as best he could just with her. "But after you had to watch me get robbed of my future children, I needed to get over that humiliation." He joked, alluding to the kick between his legs from Charles. "Once the rest are gone, a few people will trickle back in and then the unofficial competition I told you about will begin." He paused for a moment and took a step towards her. He was taller than her and looked slightly down into her eyes. He leaned a little towards her ears "In case you're still undeterred by what you've experienced so far." He wiped back a step again and the devilish smile was on his lips. He was having a huge time teasing her, just as she was doing to him.

"Come, let's eat something." Out of reflex, he held out his hand to pull her behind him and lead her to the buffet. There you would find everything your heart could possibly desire. Nate decided on a couple of the mini burgers, some mozzarella balls and potato wedges. The fight had made him incredibly hungry and he needed to eat enough energy to be fit enough for the later fights. He got a Coke for himself and for Kath and led them to a cosy corner in the room, with a sofa where they could both sit down. He sat down and looked at her, "I am really glad you came today." He said honestly, "But let's be honest, are you really enjoying yourself? If you'd rather leave, I can understand." He added. He didn't want to seem insecure, he just didn't want to waste her time.

Katherine was genuinely proud of Nate, He hadn’t given up after getting injured. Which impressed her more than anything. She watched him smile on stage all proud of himself, which he deserves to be. He had taken off his equipment and joined his friends. His two guy friends had lifted him to celebrate his wins.

She chuckled at the view in front, she was going to go up and talk to him as soon as they put him down. But as they did she watched as Mrs blondie gave him a huge hug. Kath had looked down at the floor, then back up to see if she had finished. Only to notice that nate’s attention was on her.

Katherine had kept eye contact with the handsome boxer, and stepped towards him as he approached her. Katherine had given him a flirty smirk ” congratulations, you were impressive out there”, being close to him she had started to feel the tension all again.

Kath replied to his claim with a soft chuckle, she realised he noticed her on her phone. He must be curious as to why she was. She wouldn’t want to get him worried all before the other matches.” It didn’t bore me at all, I was just checking if I got any messages from home after everything, you don’t worry about it you have to focus on getting yourself healed.”,

She looked at his nose and it wasn’t looking any good. ” Sure let’s get your nose fixed”, Kath accompanied him to the back of the locker room. She watched him wash his face and then take off his bloodied shirt. He had a fit body, If she could she would be drooling all over now.

She checked him out from top to bottom the same way he did when she arrived. He really was a sight for sore eyes. She had a smirk on her face as she did so, Kath listened to nates instructions on how to fix his nose. She listened closely to not mess it up, and as she got ready she got close to Nate.

She placed one hand on his jawline and tilted his face a bit so she can take a closer look at him. She looked at his alluring blue eyes checking on him, this would probably hurt a lot for him she thought. He had closed his eyes and placed the towel between his teeth,” You can hold onto me if it gets too painful”, She spoke those words with genuine care. She counted to three then did as instructed, and returned it to its original position. She had heard the crack and then looked at Nate in case anything happened. He had squinted his eyes and a groan had followed.

She took his face in both her hands and caressed his cheek softly with her thumb. She didn’t enjoy seeing him in pain and it showed through her storm-coloured eyes.” the pain will go in a bit, it’s ok”, As soon as the pain had decreased for him she let go and took a step back from him.

She let out a soft sigh,” your welcome”, she gave a soft reassuring smirk. Then noticed the next match has started and it was Nate’s dad. She joined them to watch the match. His father had also won this match, Their family were unbeaten champions. She clapped on his victory, it was impressive the father still had it in him.

When it was done Nate and his brother got to clean up after themselves. She took the opportunity to steal a glance at her phone and check. Still nothing 0 messages. Kath gave Nate a soft smirk as he walked towards her” no need to apologise it’s fine, I wasn’t bored don’t worry”, she paused then took a step closer to him.

She had a cheeky smirk and continued” Actually I’m quite excited to watch you play again”, She was genuine, this was all new and interesting to her. Katherine had laughed at his comment of being kicked in between his legs. She missed listening to his voice.

She can never get bored of it. She listened to him and gave a nod, The tension between them was rising as he got closer, and she noticed just how much taller he was than her. She looked back up at him giving an innocent curious look, She could always get lost in his beautiful ocean-coloured eyes. They were one of the many handsome features that he had.

She paid close attention to what he said, He must enjoy teasing Kath as much as Kath enjoys teasing him, She had a devilish smirk and mischief glint in her eyes” Im not I’m in this till the very end”, she gave him a wink then a soft chuckle. She really does enjoy his company whether it’s small talk or long conversations.

She followed him as he led her to the buffet. She had eaten at home before she came so she was pretty full, but she took the coke from Nate and then followed him onto the sofa in the corner. She sat and took a sip of her cold drink, then looked at him. She was glad that he was happy that she came today.

But what he said next startled Katherine, She didn’t expect he’d say that and it showed on her face. She looked at his face trying to read him, what made him think that? Was it because she kept checking her phone? Or maybe she didn’t seem too interested even though she really was?

Kath had now placed her drink on the floor carefully, then looked back at Nate ” What makes you say that Nate?”, she paused her face turned serious as she continued ” Listen you might not know me much yet, but one thing about me is if I don’t want to do something I simply just won’t do it same goes opposite, I simply won’t bother. So if I was actually bored I would have walked out without asking you”,

She would observe Nate after every word she’d say” Yes it’s rude, but I am very honest, I don’t do all this fake stuff and fake enjoying this for you if I don’t enjoy it I’d tell you straight up”, this time she got closer to him on the sofa then looked intensely into his eyes” So yes I really am enjoying myself, and id rather not miss it for the world”, Her eyes showed how genuine she was saying those words.

She had a flirty smirk on as she spoke” You just keep winning for me, ok?”, She’d let out a soft chuckle, then look back at him. She wanted to give him a simple kiss on the cheek but hesitated, maybe he’d be bothered by it or so, or perhaps the timing wasn’t right. Maybe she should do it before he enters his next match for good luck. Instead, she gave him a soft pat on his shoulders for now and picked up her coke and took a sip of it then returned it on the floor.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest times,If one only remembers to turn on the light.

Katherine mentioned something about 'after everything' and he would have liked to go with her to a quiet place and give her the opportunity to tell him everything, if she would have liked to. But she told him not to worry and his nose was still on the agenda. So he settled for the time being and let her fix his nose. And admittedly he wished in future she would always do it and not Nick. Her hands, which she had put on his cheeks, made him forget his pain. He could have sat there forever more, but they weren't alone and it would probably be inappropriate in this environment.

The tension between them built up again immediately after his fight and he loved it. He raised his eyebrow when she said that she was excited to watch him fighting and it was obvious that he more than liked the answer. But he kept his comments to himself for now and just gave her a perky smile.

It was pleasant that Katherine took him seriously for his words and did not laugh at him. Her words were like a balm to him and he believed her every word. As he listened to her, he had to suppress a laugh, "you would have walked out without asking me? I don't doubt that statement one bit, it really sounds like you." she added and he was visibly more relaxed. In a slightly lower voice, he added, "If you had just left, I would have chased after you in the middle of the fight and brought you back in. I wouldn't let you go without telling me." Would he really do that? With her, probably yes. She had the Russian under her spell by now, and he wouldn't put up with her just leaving without telling him to his face. Anyone but not her.

"I appreciate your honesty and I will always be honest with you too." He too now had a serious look on his face. Honesty was a high commodity for Nate and he appreciated Katherine honest nature. Even if he could imagine that not everyone could handle that kind. But he could, just as she could handle his kind. "Thank you for your honesty." he replied to her words and looked deep into her so beautiful blue eye. She had moved closer and was looking intensely into his eyes and it felt like he couldn't take the tension anymore and at the same time he wanted more of it. He could breathe in her sweet scent and couldn't get enough of it either. She was stealing his mind without even having to try. Her flirty smirk was the cherry on top of the cake and he couldn't take his eyes off her.

"For you I will always win." he spoke in a low voice, still captivated by her. He couldn't take his eyes off her and he had to look at her lips. He doesn't know what had happened, but she had him wrapped around her finger in such a short time already. He didn't know how, he didn't know when but he didn't care. He noticed how he wanted to stay close to her and he didn't want to admit it, but he wanted to kiss her so much at that moment. But the tension he felt so strongly just now was dissolved by a tap on his shoulders. He hoped it was not visible on his face but it was like a little shock. Had she just brozoned him??? He thought about how his lips would touch hers and she tapped him on the shoulders?

He quickly shoveled in the last mini burger, by then the group of evening fighters arrived, all of Nate's more his brother's age. "Mhh!" he mumbled with his mouth full and got up from the sofa, glad to get out of this situation. He grabbed her hand and led her with him to the ring. There already sat his group of friends, friends of his brother and some spectators who belonged to the other fighters. There were much fewer spectators than at the official gathering, but Nate knew it would be much louder because these fights were done without rules and more brutally. He got a large beanbag chair for himself and Katherine, on which they could both sit and watch the fights. They all made some small talk, talking about Nate and his brother's fights and other things that didn't really matter.

Soon the fights started and the hall went wild. Nate couldn't resist and kept glancing at Katherine to take in her expression. The evening wore on and soon it was time for him to warm up for his fight. He would be fighting a boy who was 2 years older than himself and Nate knew it would be a challenge. But he also knew that he was better on the ground than his opponent. After he was warmed up, he put on his mouth guard, his MMA gloves and hip through the ranks to the ring. He threw his arms in the air and hyped the crowd. When he got to Sam, Nick and Lana, he gave them all a Fistbomb before his fight would begin. He stopped in front of Katherine and winked at her. "Wish me luck."

Katherine had just replied to Nate’s comment of the statement being something she would do with an innocent shrug and a chuckle. She noticed how he got a bit relaxed after what she told him, which was a good sign. But what Nate said to Kath got her a bit surprised. Why would he bother chasing after her if she left?

Why wouldn’t he just leave her to go?” Why would you?”, she looked at him curiosity showing through her. Katherine hoped he’d be honest with her no matter what, she didn’t know him much yet. But she also hoped he wouldn’t fool her if she came to trust him. That he’d always be honest with her no matter what.

But those are only hopes by time she’d see how he actually is.” It’s nothing really Nate”, she gave him a soft smirk as she looked back into his blue eyes. She genuinely could stare into his beautiful eyes for days and could never get enough of them. Every part of him was perfect.

As she was close, she could see his facial features better. It’s as if each time they meet he gets more handsome, whether it’s his eyes or his curls. Not to mention his charming smile, he must have gotten many girls to fall for him with just that smile of his. Yes, his looks were to die for, but Katherine didn’t just like him for that.

She enjoyed his personality way more, He could radiate the same energy she had and played her game perfectly. Usually, anyone she met, they’d just shy away from the start. But he was playing it with her. Nate was one of a kind and she was very lucky to have met him. Not to mention the incredibly hot tension that they have.

Speaking of which, she thought that the tension they had at the leaky cauldron was hot enough but she was mistaken. At this moment, their tension was burning through the roof. It was as if there was no air conditioning in the place at all. Everything had turned hot all of a sudden. Katherine had shut everything happening around her, she was completely focused on Nate.

She was sure her heartbeat was racing she could pretty much feel it. She didn’t have a reply for him, It’s as if time had stopped in this moment of theirs. She noticed how he looked at her lips too, she’d be a liar if she denied that she didn’t crave him right now as much as he did for her. How she would have given him that kiss.
But instead, she hesitated and tapped him on the shoulder. Immediately removing the tension that was once there. She turned away and regretted her choice of response, She worried that Nate thought that she friend-zoned him in a way. She turned back to look at him and noticed the faint little shock he had.

If she could she would facepalm herself anytime now, maybe she shouldn’t have hesitated. This could go down as one of the worst decisions she’s ever made. She had a small flush on her cheeks due to the awkward situation she created, she stood up as he finished eating. She followed him back to the ring where everyone was grouped.

She noticed the amount of audience was less than the amount of audience before. Which piqued her curiosity a bit. They both joined his friends and created small talk to pass time before the fight started. As they started the audience went crazy for the matches, it was most probably due to the violence and excitement that comes with the fights.

She was interested but more curious about all this, which showed on her face. She noticed how Nate stole glances at her every then and there, but she didn’t put much mind to it. Probably because she was too busy scolding herself internally about what happened a few minutes ago.
Nate had to go to warm up and wear his gear again.

She noticed as the crowd had gone crazy for him as he came, She watched as he stopped in front of her and asked her to wish him luck. She had a flirty smirk and she stood on her tiptoes to reach Nate’s height, then pressed a soft kiss on his cheek.” good luck”, she gave him a wink, She didn’t need to say much already since that kiss would have spoken many words by itself.

She was excited to watch him back up in the ring again. a part of her was a bit worried though if he would get injured badly. Since from what she saw these fights are way more brutal than the last ones. He has to take care in those matches so he doesn’t get any serious injuries, either way, Kath would be there to help him in any way possible even if it was to tend his wounds after the match.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest times,If one only remembers to turn on the light.

"Are you serious about the question?" replied Nate confused, wasn't it obvious? "I guess I wouldn't want to let you go just like that. If you don't want to be here then I respect that but I wouldn't accept you leaving without saying anything." Nate didn't quite know how to put his thoughts into words but he hoped Katherine would be satisfied with his answer and at least somewhat understand what he was trying to say. As he explained, his ice blue eyes watched her intently, wanting to see what was in her expression. Why she was asking him that, or why it was so incomprehensible to her why anyone cared about her.

After Katherine gave him an unspoken rebuff - for which he was grateful in a way, since a stuffy dark room full of pubescent teenagers was not the right moment for a romantic kiss - the pat on his shoulder still scratched at his pride. He tried not to think too much about it, to understand what it was. Had she really friendzoned him with that? Nate had to stop overthinking, he didn't want chaos in his head. It was the last thing he needed before a fight, but this beautiful girl was making his head spin every time.

He was only moderately successful in distracting his thoughts, watching the fighters excitedly, cheering and roaring loudly, but every now and then he noticed how his thoughts wandered back to the memory of only a few minutes ago. The togetherness with Katherine, the tension, the closeness and her full lips so close and at the same time far from his own. He felt himself realising again that there was nothing he would rather do than kiss her and so he bit his lips to get his thoughts back in order.

Luckily for him, it would soon be that time again, the youngest Smirnow was about to enter the ring and his focus was only on the fight - thankfully. He stood in front of her, with his cheeky smile, waiting for her to wish him luck, just as he had told her. She wished him luck, of course she did but how she did it, Nate hadn't expected. Katherine stood on her tiptoes and gave him a gentle kiss on his cheek. The feeling of her full, soft and tender lips on his skin made him forget what was happening around him. Not a friendzone after all? Nate could feel hope again.

He looked down at her, her flirty smirk and a wink. He didn't know why, but it felt like he'd known her forever. He just looked at her without saying anything and inside there was an explosion of joy that couldn't be seen on the outside. "Nate, go on!" shouted Sam and Nate came back to reality, looking at his friends and then at Katherine one last time before climbing into the ring and jumping back and forth on both legs. It felt like he had more energy than he had ever had in his life.

But as he stood up there, the fight beginning, he looked up at Katherine one last time and her beauty caught him. He couldn't manage to take his eyes off her. It felt like several minutes, but it was only a few seconds. Seconds that would be his undoing. Seconds that his opponent took advantage of. While his heart was elsewhere, he felt a cracking pain rise through his jaw inside his head. It was a good punch, no it was perfect. A left hook, right to his jaw and Nate's head flew to the side, his body behind and he lost his balance. Nate was on the ground looking confused at his opponent who was grinning at him. He dropped down on top of Nate and rallied for another punch before putting the Russian in a choke hold. Nate tuned out the bawling in the room and was focused only on his opponent who whispered to him "You better not have let Miss Short Dress distract you so much." He paused for a moment and tightened his grip on Nate, "Though, can't blame you, she's really hot." And at those words, Nate just saw red.

He heaved his body to the side, forcing his opponent to loosen his grip. Nate had surprised him with this and it was his chance to get the upper hand. With his knee he placed a jab into his liver and finally he was able to loosen his grip and wrap around so that he was sitting on top of his opponent. This time it was Nate who grinned and afterwards he took a swing. His words still resounded in his ears. The way he had titled Katherine, how derogatory his tone was, the boy would pay for that. And so he set to another punch and another. Until Nate was really seeing red. He glanced at his knuckles, blood. He grabbed control of himself again and stood up from his opponent. The victory was his, the fight was brutal. The raucous volume in the room finally filtered through to Nate and he was back to reality. After Nate was declared the winner, his opponent turned to him one last time. "If you weren't such a louse, you would have kept beating. I'm sure the hot chick doesn't go for louses" He smiled devilishly at Nate with his bloodied teeth and a fuse blew in the Russian. Nate charged towards him and his opponent also lunged for a punch. That was the moment Nate was pulled backwards by his brother and Sam by the shoulders and his opponent was also pulled away.

Nate shouted a few last swear words at him and the other threatened to ambush him and settle the whole thing without his big brother's supervision. With the brawlers shouting wildly at each other and being separated, this was now the end of the event. Nate was taken to the locker room, his friends all with him, and it only took a second before his brother started yelling. "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND RIGHT NOW? I SO DON'T CARE WHAT THAT GUY SAID TO YOU. NATE, DAMN IT! YOU HAVE TO CONTROL YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES! IF DAD KNEW THAT; YOU'D PROBABLY NEVER BE ALLOWED TO BOX AGAIN!"

Nate his anger was evident in his eyes but he did not speak. He knew his brother was right. He had lost control. This was not supposed to happen, but he was not sorry. He deserved it and Nate wouldn't do it any other way if he had the chance. "NATE I'M TALKING TO YOU!" his brother continued to shout. Nate's gaze moved over Katherine to his brother. "Yes, and I hear you." Before his brother could snap any further, Nate's voice was now louder. "I know it was a mistake, man!" He regained his composure, "But I can't undo it." He added in a calmer tone.

His brother didn't speak further, he looked to his friends who nodded at him. Silently they had agreed that they would not talk about it any further today and with a few final pats on Nate's shoulders his friends took their leave. All except Katherine. He looked at her, unsure what she would think of him. "Katherine, I'm sorry you had to... well witness this. I shouldn't have lost my control." He didn't know what to say and so he fell silent, looking down at his feet.

Katherine gave Nate a nod for his reply to her question, Did she understand his answer? Not really. Why would he genuinely care for Kath, no one does. It was a bit strange for her, she had decided to take his words lightly. As Kath had given him the cheek kiss, she looked up at him. It looked as if he had zoned out.

She looked back into his alluring ice-blue eyes. Trying to read his reaction but nothing. He was zoned out, Up until sam told him to get a move on. Kath had looked at sam and then back at the handsome boxer in front of her. She watched as he entered the ring, she hoped it’d be an easy fight for him.

A part of her was worried for him, she bit her bottom lip as she watched. The match had started but what caught Kath’s attention was that Nate was looking at her, he was quite irresistible. He was someone you could admire just by watching him play. But only in a matter of seconds, Nate’s opponent used nates distraction as an opportunity to land a hit on him.

Kath let out a gasp, It looked like a painful hit right at his jaw. That idiot she thought to herself, He could stare at her all he wants later on not midst a match. At this point, Kath was wishing for a turn, In any way possible. The guy had power over Nate and as if a miracle had happened and the tables have turned.

Nate managed to break free from the guy and take control of the whole situation. But Nate looked angrier than usual which got Katherine to become a bit concerned. But maybe she shouldn’t worry since it was a brutal sport. Finally, they announced that Nate had won, kath let out a small sigh of relief and clapped. She shouted a good job Nate to him, But things hadn’t settled for just that.

A fight broke out and Kath was sure this wasn’t part of the match. Nate’s opponent seemingly had spoken something that caused Nate to blow up on him. Luckily nates brother and sam pulled both guys back from beating each other. Kath was shocked but didn’t show it, instead, she observed. Trying to understand what had happened all of a sudden.

Could it be that the opponent insulted nates family or friends? She was sure the guy had ticked him off with his words. She tried to listen but it was hard amongst the chaotic crowd, But she had heard a few swear words every then and there. But didn’t get a clear hearing on anything. Kath had followed nates friends to the locker room.

She watched as his brother started yelling, But Kath wouldn’t interrupt him. She leaned against the wall, Her storm-coloured eyes were focused on Nate. Kath guessed right Nate’s opponent had said something to piss Nate off. The Gryffindor Noticed Nate’s anger beaming through his beautiful eyes that she so adores.

The Russian boy still had his eyes on her, His brother probably noticed how distracted he was shouting at him again, causing Nate to avert his attention back to his brother. Nate gave him a reply, it wasn’t particularly an apology but it worked in silencing his brother and friends. His friends gave him a pat on his shoulder and everyone left the room.

Leaving Kath behind with Nate, Katherine had now stood up straight leaving the wall. Walking a few steps to be in front of Nate. She didn’t like it when he apologised to her, Kath felt in a way that it was her fault. If she wasn’t here or if she didn’t kiss him he wouldn’t have been distracted. Therefore the fight wouldn’t have happened.

She noticed how he didn’t even look at her anymore. Jeez what was this weird feeling that Kath had all over, it was this care. Usually, with anyone else, she wouldn’t care and would have walked out without doing anything. But him, watching him in this way, Kath couldn’t just leave. She cared for him.

Making her wrap her arms around his neck and take him in a hug, engulfing him with her warmth. She was on her tiptoes due to his height difference from her even in heels. But she didn’t really care. She took him in a tight hug but not suffocating him, Whether he’d hug back or not was his choice.

” It’s fine please don’t apologise to me, you have nothing to apologise about”, she paused then continued” If anything It’s my fault too I think my timing for the kiss was wrong”, she went back to now look in his face but her arms were still wrapped behind his neck.

” That doesn’t mean that I regret kissing you on the cheek, I would never regret kissing you”, A slight hint of blush came across her cheeks but she never would avert her eyes from him. If anything she enjoys looking at him, plus it helps her keep a good read on how he reacts.

” If you want someone to blame, blame me. After all I did distract you. Don’t put this on yourself please”, Katherine was genuine with her words, she didn’t want Nate to blame himself. She was the one to distract him in the end, he has every right to blame her for this.

” I don’t know what the guy must have said to you, but I know you wouldn’t react like that if it wasn’t something extreme that needed a reaction like that, so don’t worry I won’t think of you differently because of something like that”, she had a soft smirk on and she took one hand off his neck and placed it on the side of his face the pad of her thumb caressing his cheek softly. As she looked him straight into his ice blue eyes.

Her being this close to him, had reminded her of that moment they had a while ago. She couldn’t help thinking of wanting to kiss him. Thinking of how his lips would feel on hers, Just thinking got her heart to race a bit, the tension rising back up again. Her eyes stole a glance at his lips, and with the tension between them, it was hard to resist kissing him.

Lucky for her she had enough self-control to not kiss him right then and there, and it was the worst timing to do so anyway. He just got scolded he wouldn’t want to kiss her right now either she thought to herself. Her eyes darted back up to look at his eyes, hoping those thoughts would go away.

” How’s your jaw? Do you have any injuries? I can help you with them if you want but you’ll need to help guide me a bit since I’m guessing you don’t want any magic help with the injuries”, Her hands were now placed lightly on his chest looking straight at him care showing through them.

Hold on, care? Already this early between them. If her parents saw her they’d be disappointed in all sorts of ways, including her careless use of care and weakness. They’d think that she was giving him a way to easily hurt her. Use it as her soft spot, She was supposed to be heartless Kath. What was happening to her exactly?

What if he does end up hurting her, a million questions ran through her head at this instant. It felt like hours of mindless thinking but it was only seconds. What if Nate just wanted her to leave, instead of giving all her care mindlessly to someone who she just had two interactions with? Her hands have now dropped beside her.

Her icy eyes have become cold unconsciously as she spoke” Or maybe you’d just want me to leave also”, She had asked for a distraction away from her thoughts of kissing Nate and she got it. She watched intently for his reaction and what he’d say, Deep inside she doesn’t want to leave him.

She enjoyed the time spent with him, it wasn’t a waste of her time. She was actually enjoying herself. Not because the sport is fun or not. But she was with him, something about him kept her on the edge of her seat. He was interesting in all aspects. He wasn’t boring or overly clingy, he was almost perfect as she was getting to know him.

He was exactly her type, like the man of her dreams. She wanted to continue to know more about him, spend time with him and understand him. Kath hasn’t had that feeling with anyone yet, he was the first. Also other than the fact that she really wanted to kiss him so much, due to the unexplainable tension between them. Those very sparks that keep igniting when they are with each other. She is excited about what is yet to come.

Happiness can be found even in the darkest times,If one only remembers to turn on the light.
