“Kinsey, Hurry up!” My mum yelled up the stairs. “We are going to be late!” “Coming! Coming!’ I responded. I just had to grab a few more things. Aha! There it is! My favorite bag. I throw it over my shoulder, grab my shoes, and struggle to put them on as I go down the stairs. My mum and my sister were waiting for me at the fireplace. “Where are Walter and Jacob?” I asked confused. “They went with your father an hour ago.” She stated. That made sense. “Are you ready to go?” Mum asked me. “I think so.” This was only my second time using floo powder so I was a little nervous, but there was no need to worry. “Me first!” My sister grabbed the jar and confidently said,”Diagon Alley!” The flames lifted up around her and she vanished. “You go next,” Mum said. “Okay.” Usually I was very confident and didn't spook easily but right now I'm a little nervous. I’ve heard of all the different incidents with floo powder. One Time my Older brother went to Italy, Rome instead of London. But there was no way I would let that get the best of me. I stepped in and confidently said (just like my sister) “Diagon Alley!”


“Kinsey! See nothing to worry about.” Genevive said. “Hey sis.” Just then Mum appeared. “This way honey.” Mum started walking towards the Magical Menagerie. “Mum? Where are we going?” Genevive asked. “I figured you too have proved you are responsible enough to get your own pet.” Mum replied. “We are getting pets?!” I squealed. I was so excited. This was amazing. I was actually going to get my own pet! We continued walking toward the shop and when we opened the door a bell rang. A kind looking man walked over. “Welcome! Can I help you find anything?” The man asked. “I think we will just look around for now, but thank you.” Mum replied.

We walked around the store. There were Lizards, Owls, Toads, Rats, Pygmy Puffs, Cats and- Ooh! Cats! I walked over to the cats and was looking at all of them. “Sir?” I call over the man. “How can I help you young lady?” I explained to him how there was an empty cage. “Empty cage?! Oh no, not again.” He says, shaking his head. “Tessa sneaked out again!” I tried not to laugh as I looked at the man's startled face. “Well maybe I can help you fi- Aack!” I turned around and found a gray tabby kitten that must have jumped on my back. She was just a kitten and looked as if she was smirking. “Oh my goodness! She’s adorable!” I exclaimed. “Is she for sale?”

I put her into the cat carrier. She is so perfect. I couldn’t wait to take her home. Genevive got a cute little Eastern Screech Owl. She said that she would share with me at Hogwarts so I could always send letters to Mum and Dad. “So what breed of cat is Tessa?” Gen asked me. “She is a…” I looked at the tag on her carrier. “She is a Gray Mackerel Tabby.” We just needed to pick up the rest of the things on my list for hogwarts then I could go home to play with her.
