Owl Arrival PV Fang Hui-Ming

It was a cloudy morning that day, the sun timidly appearing occasionally through the heavy looking clouds. The temperature was a little low for summer time, but inside her house it was always a comfy and controlled atmosphere. Ying just woke up at 6:00 am, like everyday, and started her normal routine. Some days were easier then others, but that morning was a good day, she was feeling lively and in a good mood. The first thing she did as soon as the alarm went off was to sat in her bed and stretch her arms out, like she was waiting for a big hug from one hopefully, happy day. Yawning, she lifted the covers and got out of her warm bed. Was still rubbing the sleep from her eyes when she turned on some music on her laptop, "Snap out of it" from Arctic Monkeys was her soundtrack while she started to prepare herself to start the day.

Still on her pj's, she tied her long hair into a high ponytail and sat on her chair behind her desk. Was time to do something productive before thinking in doing something more entertaining. She was just about to open her history book, her favorite subject, when a knocking sound came from her bedroom window. Slightly frowning, Ying looked towards where the sound had came. It was a familiar sound, a happy sound, because usually it meant that her brother had wrote her a letter from Hogwarts, because those where happy moments that broke through the monotony of her daily life and because she always missed her brother when he was away. But this time she knew that wasn't the case, because she was almost sure that Ming would be in his room or somewhere in the house reading some book or drowned in his studies. Maybe the small but beautiful barn owl just had mistaken her room with Ming's and that was a correspondence meant to him.

Even with this thoughts in her mind, Hui-Ying got up from her white leather chair and went towards the window to pick up the letter from the beautiful bird. She opened her window, took the light brown envelop from her small beak and before reading what it was, she gave some treat and water to the owl and watched with a smile as the owl took flight towards the light grey sky. Turning the envelop in her small hands her heart escaped a bit when she saw that was her name that was written there and it was closed with Hogwarts' seal. She immediately recognize what it was about and a large smile full with happiness and joy spread across her face. With trembling hands and after skipping towards her bed, she sat down on top of her light purple bedspread and opened the piece of parchment. She almost couldn't contain herself from how excited she felt, she would be attending Hogwarts that year, she would be with her brother, she would meet new friends, new adventures...and most importantly she would learn magic!

She needed to tell Ming the good news, she was thankful that her parents where no longer at home and had went to work, it was just her, her brother and the caretakers. Merrily she jumped out of her bed and half walking, half running she headed to her brother's room, it was the first place that came to her mind when she thought about where her brother would be. When she arrived to his door, she saw it closed so she enthusiastically knocked it, "Ming! Gēge!¹" She called for him holding her letter towards her pounding chest. She took a deep breath then, anxiously waiting for his reply and permission to enter his room. She had to prepare herself to tell him that she would travel to Hogwarts with him, she knew her brother's perspective and thoughts about the magical world, so she knew her words should be carefully chosen.
