Prep Time: 10 Minutes

Cook Time: 12 Minutes

Ingredients: 10

Ingredients
1 pound Ground Beef
1 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/4 teaspoon Pure Ground Black Pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
8 slices of Applewood Smoked Bacon
8 tablespoons Crunchy Peanut Butter
A Balsamic Onion
Half a Head of Lettuce
4 Brioche Hamburger Rolls

Instructions
Mix ground beef, onion, seasoned salt, garlic powder, pepper and Worcestershire sauce in large bowl. Shape into 4 patties.

Broil or grill over medium heat 4 to 6 minutes per side or until burgers are cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F). Toast rolls on the grill, open-side down, about 30 seconds.

Serve burgers on toasted rolls with peanut butter, bacon, onions, lettuce, and any other desired toppings.

Serve with seasoned shoestring fries and sparkling apple juice for a taste of my childhood.

Has anyone else seen the strange first year wandering about the castle and the even stranger things she has with her? Rumor has it her name is Finley, and despite her father being a wizard, she has a strange fascination with muggles. She can often be found around the castle and its surrounding grounds doing creative projects like embroidery but surprisingly without magic. That’s right, she does it all by hand. She has even been spotted building things like houses and plants out of tiny plastic bricks. I’ve even heard from other Ravenclaws that have seen her with those bricks, that she is trying to build a replica of the castle out of them. We wish her luck with that endeavor, though we do find her obsession truly strange.

The old treehouse at the back of her parent’s property. A prime location for all sorts of mischief and the like to take place. Today was different though. Today Finley had plans after school that would prevent her from the usual schedule she tried to adhere to. That didn’t mean that all traditions had to be neglected though. So, there she was, taping a paper to the door with one of her classic jokes written on it to assure that her friends got a joke from her today.
“Why did the attacking army use acid?”
“To neutralize the enemy's base.”
It was a joke that had been used quite a lot in their group but it was one that always got some laughs, even if they came from a place of exasperation rather than humor.

Write a post about feelings with no dialogue {WC: 232}

It was her first night in the castle and she was positively miserable. Her entire life had been turned upside down in a matter of mere months and she longed for it to go back to the way it had been before. The fear and homesickness was eating at her from the inside and she wasn’t sure if she would even make it through the week. And all it would take to leave would be a simple letter to her parents. At least she hoped it would be. Her parents probably insist that she stick it out longer. She had to fight back tears as she rolled over for what seemed like the millionth time that night. Refocusing her eyes on the ceiling did nothing to help the current pit in her stomach and she wasn’t sure the feeling would ever go away. Fear was not something she had experienced a lot as a child. Minus the occasional perceived near death of doing something stupid like swinging over a ditch on a vine. This was different though. This wasn’t just fear nor was it adrenaline. This was sheer terror; dread in its greatest form. The worst part was that nothing cared. The night would continue to drag on; the stars would continue to shimmer in the sky; the trees would continue to sway in the wind. The fear would stay with her.

Write a solo with your character trying something new {WC: 229}

November was coming to a close which meant the closing in of her mother’s birthday. Having a professional chef for a mother was almost always a good thing, except in cases like these when your father was expected to prepare a fancy dinner. Ten years of witnessed attempts had pushed Finley to encourage her father to just take them out for a nice dinner in a restaurant this year, but at the ripe old age of ten, she was determined to cover the desert department. And what better time to try than when neither her parents or any other adult was home. With the oven preheating, she turned her attention to the back of the box mix. Water, eggs, and oil. It couldn’t be that hard could it? It turns out it actually could be that hard. Judging by the current flakiness of the cake, she had forgotten to reduce the amount of time on the box like her father had told her. Finley finished pulling the cake leveler over the top of the cake and pulled a piece of the top off. She placed the piece in her mouth and while it tasted fine, the cake was incredibly dry. A little too dry to be covered up by a good icing. Guess it was time to tell her dad they’d have to go out for dessert as well.

Short adventure story {WC: 341}

The final bell of the year rang out through the school and kids came pouring out of the doors not even a few seconds later. Finley didn’t know it yet, but this would be the last time she would be walking out of those doors. The near kilometer walk home was filled with the voices of her excited friends and their shoes slapping the sidewalk. As a kickoff to the beginning of summer, the five of them would be camping in the woods at the back of Finley’s house. Like usual, the walk passed with ease and the group made their way to the large clearing where they would set up. They had stopped for a snack at the house and to switch their school clothes and packs into ones more appropriate for their little hike. The two boys pitched the tents while the girls gathered logs and sticks to make the fire for dinner. Once all the work was done, they played in the woods until Finley’s parents showed up to help them with the fire and food. With campfire chili and smores to fill them up, the kids feasted. And after a good meal and a few more games in the woods they all settled down in their tents and went to sleep.

A strange noise woke them all a little past midnight. What sounded like a woman screaming cut through the ambient sounds of the forest. Always the brave one, Finley opened the tent flap and stuck her head outside. Logically, she knew it was probably just a fox or a deer screaming somewhere deeper in the woods, yet under the dark cover of the night and having just woken up, her mind thought the worst. Cautiously, she stepped out and urged her friends to do the same. They quietly folded their tents and ran to the house without packing anything away. After stomping through the backdoor and laying the sleeping bags back out on the living room floor. The group laid back down and went to sleep.

Write a post about your character training for a sport {WC: 292}

It was a warm Sunday morning as Finley and her father hiked out to their makeshift archery range. Her bow and quiver were in the bag currently slung over her shoulder. It wasn’t a long walk out, but a fairly steep sloped hill made it a little bit more work than her usual galavanting through the woods. The range consisted of a couple tree mounted thick foam targets at varying heights as well as a few of those targets on the ground. There were also a couple foam animals scattered around, though Finley had never really liked hitting them. She hung her bag up and pulled out her bow before clipping the quiver to one of her belt loops. After putting on her release she moved behind the shooting line and aimed her first shot. She chose one of the targets mounted on a tree about 20 meters away. Finley took her time lining up her shot, she was aiming for the bullseye but she would be happy just hitting the target with how long it had been since her last archery practice. As if the world was trying to smite her, she sneezed as the arrow released causing the projectile to fly into a tree without a target. She sighed loudly as her dad tried to hide a chuckle behind a cough. Her next couple shots hit the target, but none got even close to the bullseye. Finley loaded the last arrow in her quiver and forced all her focus on the target. The arrow released and flew to land right on the line between red and yellow. It was the best of all her arrows but still not where she wanted to be. Maybe the next set would be better.

Hearing her mother call her, Finley put her Xbox controller down and headed into the kitchen. Her grandmother and grandfather stopped her at the doorway for their hugs, which she happily gave them as they all sat down for dinner. She clapped her hands in delight, seeing her all time favorite meal. Flammkuchen. A German pizza of sorts. Though, she didn’t think most other people would see it as a pizza. It was more like a large cracker that was covered in a cream sauce, bacon, and caramelized onions. Even still, it was delicious and always brought smiles to the dinner table. The first crunchy bite with just a hint of sweet from the onions and sauce was a thing of Finley’s dreams.

INGREDIENTS

DOUGH
2 tsp active yeast, pizza yeast preferred
1/2 tbsp sugar
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, (or half rye flour, half all-purpose flour)
1 tsp kosher or sea salt
1 tbsp olive oil

TOPPING
1 tbsp clarified butter or cooking oil
3 onions
6 oz smoked bacon, thick cut, not too fatty
7 oz creme fraiche or sour cream
1 large egg yolk
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS
Sift the flour. Combine the yeast, sugar and water in a bowl and let the yeast activate.

Add the flour, salt and oil and mix until a dough forms.

If using a stand-up mixer, let it work on the dough for a couple of minutes.

If kneading by hand, knead actively onto a floured surface for 5 minutes.

Cover the dough and let rest in a warm spot for about 1 hour.

In the meantime cut the bacon into small, thin strips and thinly slice the onions.

Heat the clarified butter or cooking oil over medium heat and cook the bacon until it just begins to get crispy. Move it to drain over a paper towel.

In the same pan with the grease left from the bacon, saute the onions. When translucent move away from the heat and let them cool off.

Mix the creme fraiche or sour cream with the yolk, salt and pepper, nutmeg.

Heat the oven to 425 F.

Knead the dough for a minute and divide it into portions (8 for appetizer sized or 4 for bigger flammkuchen).

Roll out the dough pieces thinly and place then onto parchment paper lined baking sheets.
Spread creme fraiche mixture over each tart, top with onions, bacon and sprinkle with caraway seeds. Bake for 20 minutes or until the edges begin to darken.

Serve right away.
