March First, 2023.
The day of the letter.
The day had been like any other. It had started with an early wakeup for Taizu, to have some alone time and to do some schoolwork to wake himself up. Just a strange thing he'd do to start his day, and prepare his mind for the school day ahead of him. Plus, it'd get him caught up on the schoolwork he hadn't finished the night before. That, and he'd get to see the sun rise from the small window in the commons room.
When the trickle of the less early wakers started making it's way into the commons room, Taizu had stood and walked to the exit of the commons room, stepping out from behind the portrait and into the hallway outside. Then, he would take a leisurely stroll down to the great hall, where he would sit himself in his usual spot at the end of Gryffindor table, and began to butter some toasted bread.
As the other students trickled into the Great Hall, Taizu continued eating, slowly and relaxed. He enjoyed the time he got alone, though he would still wave to a friend or two that greeted him from across the hall.
And as he started to finish eating his breakfast, the owls entered the Hall. Taizu looked up at the owls and smiled, knowing for certain that his father had likely written back with his own owl. His suspicions were confirmed when his fathers owl landed next to him with a letter. He had pulled the letter off and had been feeding the beautiful creature a bit of sausage when the second owl landed.
Taizu had jumped as soon as it had landed, and it had let out shrill screech that would have echoed through the great hall if not for the hundreds of owls flying through the air. Taizu recognized the owl for it's bright orange eyes like a spotlight.
It was a Japanese scops-owl.
And clutched in it's beak was a letter.
With trembling hands, Taizu took the letter from it, and it immediately took flight into the air, being lost in the storm of owls. Turning the letter over in his hand, he saw that it was addressed in Japanese as such:
Taizu Miyashiro
Hogwarts
Great Hall
Gryffindor table
End of table
Flipping it back over, he saw as he feared. For impressed in the wax sealing the envelope shut was none other then the Miyashiro house crest.
Hands shaking impossibly more, Taizu reached to open the envelope, and cracked the seal. From the envelope came a sound similar to a long sigh, and Taizu pulled out the letter, his ears deaf to the chatter of students and hooting of owls.
As Taizu read the letter, his face grew paler and paler until he looked akin to a ghost. As he finished reading, he dropped it onto the table in front of him, and said, "N-no..."
Standing up, Taizu began to shake his head, and then shouted, "NO!!" With that, he sprinted out of the great hall, not caring about anything.
To anyone who read the letter, they would find that it said in the same Japanese,
To Taizu Miyashiro,
You have been cordially invited to prove your worth at the Annual Family meeting. You will bring one of the people you have made a 'friend' at your school, to prove you at least have worth despite your fathers poor choices. The meeting time and place will be sent to you on July 12th, 2023. Do not try and avoid this. Do not prove yourself worthless.
Sincerely,
Enko Miyashiro
