Dungeons & Dragons

Kyle, after a long school day, found his way into the quiet Library. The last remnants of sunlight were peeking through the windows and shining on the floating dust like little sparks in the air. Kyle took out his notebook, covered in doodles and notes. He rifled through the pages until he found a blank page. He then pulled a goose feather quill and a pot of ink from his satchel. Finally, he took out the Dungeons and Dragons: Monster Manual and flipped to the page about the Owlbear. He propped open the book and started to sketch his own Owlbear. The drawing was not of a scary monster, but a cute, fluffy creature.
I wonder if Owlbears are real? I haven't heard of that, but I didn't know about faeries either until I came here... He thought.
As he drew, he thought about the many things that could be real that Muggles thought of as myths. He wondered how they kept such things from muggles and why.
He looked at his drawings, a tiny Owlbear rolling in some flowers, one with a peanut butter banana sandwich.
Sighing, he turned the page to a new blank slate and looked through the Monster Manual again.

Dungeons & Dragons
Nestled deep into the corner of the library, Rebecca had his face buried in a Transfiguration book and was, quite honestly, perfectly content to remain dead to the world until the librarian kicked him out for curfew. That was, until another first year sat down at his table.
Rebecca startled to attention, and resisted the reflexive urge to swear. Barely. But the other kid didn't even look Rebecca's way! Rebecca tried to subtly size them up as they shuffled around their bag and pulled out a couple of books and a quill. Pale, freckly, and small. Hm... Cool hair.
The plastic-y sheen of the cover of one of the books was a dead giveaway for muggle design, and Rebecca found himself perking up in interest. He squinted and put down his textbook, no longer trying to be sublte at all as he tried to read the title. Oh, Dungeons and Dragons! Rebecca had played that before with his cousins! Obviously the magic system in that game was fanciful without a doubt, nothing like how real wizards acted, but he remembered it being fun nonetheless.
Rebecca considered the other kid with renewed curiosity. Something about them had caught his attention, and clearly this wasn't another stuffy pure-blood (lord knows Rebecca already knew enough of those). So, without overthinking, he made his move.
Rebecca scooted his seat closer. "Your art is really pretty," he complimented, grinning. "And your hair is cool. My name's Rebeccca!"
He smiled his best charming smile.
"You play dungeons and dragons too?"
