Flower Crowns and Laughter Finished

"I'll race you!"

"Not if I get there first!"

"Quit shoving!"

"Hey!"

The loud chattering of the students only grew as they made their way to the door. With each witch and wizard, they pushed and shoved each other about, resulting in annoyed grunts and muttered curses. The sight of this looked ridiculous, as one by one, each student would pile out the door and into the freedom of the outdoors. As this impatient process went on, it took about six minutes for each student of the Herbology class to leave through the door, the loud shouting and chiding turned to joyful giggles and calm conversation as the afternoon sun lit up everything about them, giving the nature of the scenery a brighter and more colorful demeanor. With the permission from the Herbology professor, along with her small warm smile, the students shouted with joy as they were accepted into their afternoon off, each of them racing down the grassy hills and towards the large oak tree, the sounds of laughter and shouts of "WHOO-HOO!"'s  filling the air.

The students piled under the ancient oak. Although the sun wasn't blazing down upon them with brutal heat, the temperature was a pleasant cool, a comfortable mixture of gentle wind and warm heat. The tree's green leaves caused the sun's rays to illuminate off, providing the students a large amount of shade below. In a group, they all sat together, some leaning against the oak's trunk, other's laying on their backs, their inky black robes sprawled underneath them like the trails of an octopus. They talked with each other, jokes being told and stories being shared. They knew each other, whether it be from talking to them often, or recognizing them from class. Ether way, they were friendly to each other, some boys talking about Quidditch or studies, while some girls talked about the latest gossip or what was for homework.

Aubren was in a group of girls she was familiar with. She spoke to them and laughed at their stories, her warm laughter blending in with the soft noise from the conversations around. She was a sweet girl, and got along with pretty much everyone. It wasn't a surprise that the students have come to like her, she was a lovely mix of anything you could want in a friend. Today was the day that showed, for as the minutes passed, it wasn't long before one of the girls she had been talking to came up with an idea.

They had been currently braiding flowers into circular hoops, in which they had picked from the near by bushes. Each girl in the small group wore a crown around her head, the flowers elegantly displayed with the colors of their hair. Aubren wore a crown one of the Hufflepuff girls had made her, the crown consisting with clusters of large white petaled flowers. It fit well with her brown hair, even earning a compliment from the Hufflepuff girl, saying that she was "Pretty as the flowers on your head!". Although the compliment was sweet, and true, Aubren grew shy and smiled, as she always did when someone complimented her. However, the crown-making gave one of the other girls, an energetic Ravenclaw, an idea. Looking around the clutter of students, she raised her voice to gather their attention.

"Let's make flower crowns! Find a partner and a bunch of flowers, it's easy! Watch how I do it-"

As the Ravenclaw gave a tutorial, each of the students already began to pair up, some girl and girl, some boy and boy, and others a mix. Aubren, quickly realizing the girls in her group already paired with someone, began to search for a loner, her brightly colored brown eyes searched through the groups. The class didn't seem to mind making flower crowns at all, it was an activity that was enjoyable, and kept them from sinking into boredom.  Aubren was just about to give up and watch from the side, when she spotted a Slytherin boy, sitting on the grass by himself, not a crown weaver in sight. Her face grew into a grin as she stood from her seat, brushing off some strands of grass before walking over to the boy, her smile directed straight at him. Once she was closer, she knelt down, sitting beside him.

"Hello, I'm Aubren, Aubren Anson."

She said, politely. Her voice was surprisingly soft and pleasant, considering she was just hanging out with loud and energetic girls. Aubren recognized him from Herbology a few times before, but has never gotten around to knowing his name.

"I'll make you a flower crown. Your red hair would look great with pink flowers, would you like that?"
Aubren asked, taking a quick glance at a bush spotted with small pink and white petals.
