Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor - Winter 2023
Spectator Thread for Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor - Winter 2023
It was a lovely day on the Pitch this time. Quite a rarity for the game days lately. The stands were full of fans eager to see the scheduled match, near to bursting. Just because it was sunny did not imply that it wasn't cold, however. Still in winter, it was still bitingly cold. Many spectators brought mugs of hot liquid to drink. Some cocoa, some tea, some definitely illegal to own fire whiskey. No amount of arbitrary nonsense like 'cold' or 'underage drinking laws' were going to stop them from seeing this match.Date: 2/5/2023

The announcer slipped into the booth. He was clad in a sweater, long thick pants, but bare feet, weirdly enough. He had piercing emerald eyes, messy black hair, and just the finest moustache. A moustache that did not move at all with the breeze... Odd.
He spoke, but what came out was a cockney accent, like one would hear from a London urchin boy decades ago.
'Ello ev'ryone! An' welcome to the Win'er Quidditch match between Rav'nclaw an' Gryff'ndor! I 'ope yer all exci'ed! I sure am! Let's get star'ed!"

Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor - Winter 2023
It was one of those mornings where the sun was happy to shine in your eyes without doing a single thing to warm you up. Climbing to the top of the stands, Adam could see his breath with every step. His hands were clutched tightly around a cup of hot chocolate; his blue scarf, both a show of house pride and an extra layer against the cold, was wound closely around his neck. With any luck, Ravenclaw would catch the Snitch quickly today — very quickly. Otherwise, he was afraid he might freeze his ears off.
The game had already begun by the time that the sixth-year reached the top of the stairs, and he hurried to find a seat among the crowd of Ravenclaw fans. He hadn't been to a Hogwarts Quidditch game in a long time; still, it only took a few moments for everything to come back to him. Blue and red blurs on broomsticks chased each other around the pitch while the announcer's amplified voice narrated their every move. The hoops, guarded by their keepers, waited for some brave chaser to try and score. With every pass, interception, jostle, and blatching, a burst of noise rose from the crowd: cheering, booing, chanting. It wasn't long before Adam wasn't thinking about the cold anymore.
He took a swig of hot chocolate as he searched the Ravenclaw players in the air for particularly familiar faces. Jorah Moussa, who he was sure he'd met a few times outside the common room, had taken a hard hit from a bludger, but Adam was sure that he'd be beating it right back in no time. He struggled to put names to the faces of the younger players, but their team of chasers was older and a bit more recognizable. He knew Sylvain and Lavinia, didn't he? Knew of them, at least. And — of course — the third chaser and Ravenclaw team captain was none other than his best friend, Cecily Quinn. She was about ninety percent of the reason that he'd hiked across the grounds to be here. He had a habit of swearing that he'd be at her next game and then, for some reason or another (usually homework-based), not being there. Not today, though! It was way worth a sniffle to see Cecily and the eagles take flight.
Adam let out a loud cheer as his friend collided with one of the Gryffindor players, knocking the lion off her broom, which turned into a gasp as someone else knocked the Ravenclaw captain off her broom. His hands squeezed his cocoa cup until his knuckles turned white. Years ago, when he'd been on the Quidditch team, falling had always been his biggest fear. He'd never had to experience it, thankfully, because he'd been on the bench the whole time. But his heart didn't stop threatening to beat out of his chest until both of the blatched students were caught.
He sat back with a sigh of relief, glancing up at Gryffindor's goals just in time to see Lavinia score. Yes! Just like that, he was back to cheering: alternating, as the action unfolded, between "Quinn! Quinn! Quinn!" and a more general "Rav-en-claw! Rav-en-claw!"
The game was tied. There was plenty of time to go. If Ravenclaw won this match, Adam promised himself that he'd never miss another one — not even if it meant trudging through a hurricane to see it.

| ─── | It was Sunday, February 5th, 2023.
A sunny but cold morning to be outside and watching a quidditch game. 9AM was early, too early for him. It was fine during the weekdays since he had to get up for classes. But on the weekend? Back during his first year, Kim would never get up earlier than 11AM on the weekend. However, ever since the start of his second year, Kim had actually improved and had managed to get his body used to waking up one hour earlier. So now 10AM was the earliest he could get himself to wake up, without resorting to the extreme clumsiness that came with waking up too early than he could handle. Kim was clumsy all the time when it came to mornings. Even though one might not expect it of him, it was a truth he tried to hide from others. That is, unless they happened to be part of his Clumsy Club. Then there was no need to hide it because everyone was like that.... Kim was currently wearing a black shirt, black pants and a sparkly blue jacket over the outfit. The white haired teen's hair was pulled back away from his face with a blue silk ribbon. But it also allowed for strands of hair to escape and fall down the back of his neck. Around his left wrist was Kim's diamond pride bracelet. Kim sighed as he trudged over to the bleachers. He was here for two reasons. Damion had wanted him to come support him at his match, so he'd come. Plus, Pax was also playing in the same match now. So why not cheer for both of them? Kill two birds with one stone. Kim chose a seat and set his satchel down beside him as Puffie hopped off his shoulder and settled on top of his satchel and looked around at his surroundings. As Kim got settled, he heard someone nearby chanting 'Quinn' and 'Ravenclaw' and glanced over at the male. He looked vaguely familiar but Kim couldn't place who he was now. If the higher year looked over, Kim would incline his head towards the boy... Pax and Damion both were beaters. The same position. Which meant they would both probably come into contact with eachother at some point in time. Pax ended up missing their attempts at hitting the bludgers into their opponents but Gryffindor ended up making quite a few goals despite this. Kim couldn't help but feel happy Pax was doing so well for now. But at the same time, it was a shame that Damion's team wasn't doing too well as a result. It was hard to support two teams at once, especially when one was your own team. Elsian was also playing too. Well, not really playing, but sitting on the bench was a form of 'playing' too! They were important members! After all, they always had to be ready to go out and take the place of whoever needed to exit the game at any given time. Plus, seeing the reserve players there cheering their teammates on, it might inspire and give the starting players more energy and strength to do their best! Pax also ended up hitting some bludgers but the other side hit some bludgers too and both sides ended up getting smacked. He watched, not about to ever admit to anyone that he actually didn't mind quidditch. Kim might never play or get near a broom himself... But that didn't mean he hated quidditch. After all, his father was a diehard fan of it and as a result, Kim had watched countless matches before. He still didn't like going to see them if no one he knew was playing but it wasn't that bad when he wasn't in danger of getting on a broom himself. As the match continued, Kim winced as Pax took a bludger head-on and almost 'died' but somehow managed to remain in the game. That couldn't have been good though, he was in danger of getting knocked out, unless someone spotted the snitch. If that happened, the game would end fairly quickly. Damion was doing pretty well too, he'd managed to save some of his teammates and even helped one too. If Kim remembered right, it had been one of the chasers on the Ravenclaw team. There was a lot going on now. Kim let his blue eyes flicker one way and then another, trying to take in everything that was going on at the moment. He had to admit, he kind of wanted to see Elsian in action. It had nothing to do with bias. It had nothing to do with the fact that Elsian was one of his best friends at Hogwarts, his partner in crime and someone he could hang around with and plot pranks whenever they came to mind....of course not.... Really... Seriously. Kim wondered what would happen with this match and who would end up winning. It probably would all come down to who spotted the snitch first, right? As of now, Kim had no idea. Time passed and eventually the match was over. It had been quite an epic finish with the seeker for Ravenclaw grabbing the snitch at the last possible second to secure the win for Ravenclaw. It seemed as if Kim had been Damion's good luck charm. It was a shame Pax and Elsian had lost but Kim had come for Shiro. Even though he supported all three of them, the person he'd come to watch at this particular match had won. So it was good. He'd gotten what he'd wanted, to see his friend score in his match. When things were getting cleaned up, Kim got up and made his way over to the players coming off the field. |
