Amy was carrying all of her text books stacked up on top of each other, she was struggling. She has almost fallen many times, she hasn’t, but she’s come very close.
She finally got to a table and plopped herself down, setting down all of the books.
She quickly began going over her potions books, she knew that she was going to struggle with potions, she would spend most of her time studying that subject. She knew that she was smart, just more so in different subjects, but she just couldn’t have a low grade. Every time she doesn’t get perfect score, she feels like a failure, she knew she was smart. And, she could do a lot better, Amy knew that.
She continues to go over her potions textbook, she kept silent and to herself, she didn’t want to bother anyone else in the study room. She decided after twenty minutes or so, she would do a different subject. She started on Transfiguration, she was quite ok in that class. She didn’t have to study much for that. She didn’t mind going over the book though, she needed to do something, or she felt lazy. She sighed a bit and continues going over the text book.

After a rough few hours in Charms, Reuben plodded into the study room; his feet dragging behind him. He was exhausted. Charms class was his weakest; something just wasn't clicking for him. What a waste of time.— he thought, I'll never get good at it. Such a way of thinking was unusual for a bright and optimistic boy like him. He's never shied away from a challenge before. He slowly strolled over to an empty seat near a Slytherin girl. There was something about her that caught Reuben's eye. She seemed to be deep into whatever she was reading. He sat down a seat away from her and shot a quick glance at what she was reading, immediately recognising the book from its contents. Transfiguration!— he thought. His mood promptly shifted, as if the last few hours never happened. Reuben's love for transfiguration once again flooded him with excitement. Even better yet; he found someone to talk to about it! Or so he thought, he hasn't considered the outcomes in his rush of impulsiveness. He took a moment to cool his excitement before talking to her. After all, no one wants to be startled while trying to study.

"Hi! You're doing transfiguration, right? You mind if I join you?" Reuben asked with a bright look on his face. He hoped he hadn't startled her, he knew his direct and bubbly personality can be a lot to some people.

Amy had been in her little world, being able to just lose herself in the transfiguration book.
She had been reading a passage for a spell when a Gryffindor boy her age sat next to her.
She jumped a bit when he spoke
“I am! I don't mind at all” she smiled at the boy, setting the book down for a moment. “I'm Amy Acree, yours?” she asked the boy, noticing his somewhat Irish accent, Amy herself had been from Wales. She had an accent, not a very prominent one, the only time it showed was when she was angry and talking very fast. So right now, it wasn't very prominent.
She was excited to be talking to someone, right now, she didn't have the most friends. She wasn't used to that, back at home, she never had any issues making friends. If she was honest, she was a bit lonely, so she was excited at the chance to make a friend. She would try to give the best impression she could to the boy, so she could at least make one friend, just so she had someone. Being someone who never had a problem making friends and then coming here, where she was brand new, and not having anyone, was very lonely.

Reuben beamed at her, setting down his books beside Amy. What a cool name!— he thought to himself. He hasn't made many friends so far, it was unlike him; he was used to being able to socialise whenever, wherever and with whomever. Maybe it was all about to change, however. Reuben was excited to finally meet someone new. "I'm Reuben! Reuben Reilly, that is, but my friends call me 'Rue'." He smiled. She seems lovely— Reuben concluded to himself. "Sooo.. Do you like Transfiguration?" he asked intently. It was his foremost passion, altering things and making them into something more. It came naturally to him and he relished it, though he found his struggles in Charms infuriating. He's clearly good at altering objects through transfiguration, so why not through charms?— he thought. He hated not being good at something, especially at a core part of magic; it irked him deeply. Maybe she could help me with it... he hoped to himself. It was not unlike him to ask for help if he needed it; Reuben understood the value of companionship, even if it meant admitting his faults. I'll ask her later. he decided; he was suddenly more thrilled about it all.
