@Rhys ReadIT's DINNER TIME!!! Bailey's mind cheers, as a smile spreads across her face. Bailey loved food, and as it was the beginning of the second week back at school, and she was ready for food, and then relaxing in her dorm with her dormmates and friends for the evening. Homework had been completed, and now it was just food and relaxing!
Bailey walked down the corridors to the lavatory, to wash up for dinner.
Bailey was still wearing her school uniform, and today she had actually worn a skirt. Bailey had started wearing skirts and dresses more, a fact that no one but @Kim Sato had really noticed.
Bailey was also wearing a Ravenclaw sweater, and some of her favorite ravenclaw, or at least blue jewelry.
Bailey also had her bag over her shoulder, with her water bottle, notebooks on cake design and just for notes, writing utensils, and a few miscellaneous candies and snacks and such. Bailey also had her wand, as everyone carried theirs around everywhere it seemed - force of habit.
Entering the lavatory, Bailey spotted a first year, who seemed sad, or at least not happy. at first bailey was not sure if she should approach the child, but in the end Bailey decided to see what she could do to help.
Approaching the first year, Bailey tapped them softly on the shoulder, and said softly "hiiiii.... what's wrong - what can i do to help?"
A caring smile graced Bailey's lips, a soft smile, not too bug, but enough to show that she was there to help, and not to cause harm or trouble.

dialogue
Rhys was having a less-than-great time. They'd just received yet another owl from their mum, pestering them for details on whether or not they'd made any friends. Even after their argument over winter break, where Rhys blew up on one of their brothers for asking them to share with the family about the people they'd met. Their parents didn't approve of the fact that they hadn't really made any friends, only acquaintances of common interest, and that the one person that Rhys would perhaps consider a friend-- @Jack Burnett -- was a Slytherin in his 4th year and agreed with Rhys on their views of making friends at Hogwarts. Both of their brothers distrusted Jack, and their parents told them that what they were doing was 'unhealthy' and an 'unwise decision.' Things had gotten pretty heated, with no clear solution except for the fact that Rhys and their brothers returned to Hogwarts and thus to ignoring each other's presence.
Rhys probably had some anger to learn how to manage, to say the least...
It just made them so mad that they couldn't seem to get a break. They did their best to cooperate, against their better judgment, and it got them nowhere. Chopping their hair off was what had started it-- it was an impulsive, 4 a.m. decision that got them grounded 'for the foreseeable future' and highly amused their brothers.
To make matters worse, now Rhys actually had a bit of an obligation to be 'friends' with people. They'd signed up for a few clubs that interested them, and while that hadn't really deterred their mother, their newfound peers would think there were friendships forming, and Rhys would feel terrible if that feeling was completely and utterly unrequited.
So, to try and calm themself down a little bit, Rhys had fled to the bathroom. They were hoping to have a moment to themself to steady themself before they had to go to dinner and endure be in the presence of others. But their plans came to a screeching halt when they were tapped on the shoulder by an older girl.
Rhys quickly swiped tears away from their face before they turned around and crossed their arms in a self-hugging sort of stance. The girl appeared to be a Ravenclaw, with long blonde hair and a kind smile. She was... offering help?
Okay, that wasn't what Rhys was used to, or what they really expected from people, to be completely honest. They shook their head, taking a deep breath.
"Oh. Um. I just stepped in to- uh, take a moment to.." Rhys chewed their lip before shuffling their feet and averting their gaze. "Calm down, I guess... Sorry, I didn't hear you come in, I can go." Rhys turned to leave, avoiding answering the girl's question and keeping their gaze averted, embarrassed that they'd been walked in on while they were having a bit of a breakdown.

The child before her, the one that she had just tapped on their shoulder, wiped away tears before they turned to face bailey.
They seemed a bit taken aback, and Bailey worried I for a moment that her friendliness was a bit much. She knew she could be a tad eager, and a bit too much for some people. They took a deep breath before saying something about just to calm down.
Bailey smiled sympathetically, and said softly “i understand. Hogwarts- or whatever is bothering you- they can be amazing, but also a bit much a times.”
A best of silence passed. Bailey said then, glancing at the child, looking them up and down, “Is there something bothering you? Anything I can help with? Can I at least listen, I know you may not want to share, but it does feel good to get things off of your chest.”
Bailey then said, a little brighter and with slightly more enthusiasm and positivity, “Oh! And my name is Bailey- Bailey Glade! You can honestly call me anything, I have nicknames ranging from Bai or Bails to Sunshine, and I don’t mind! What would you like me to call you?”
The child had both masculine and feminine characteristics or features, and Bailey was not sure how to ask what their pronouns were.
I’ll figure it out she thought, waiting for a reply.

Before Rhys could safely skedaddle, the older Ravenclaw girl spoke up again, saying how she understood how Hogwarts could get to be a bit much and offered to listen if there was something bothering them. Rhys was... well, they weren't sure how to feel. Their brothers (Rhun, especially) never really cared to check in with how they were doing, and they didn't feel like they could talk to their mother about anything that was really bothering them. A lot of their issues were actually related with their family, and while Rhys's mom had tried to be there for them to help them talk about their feelings, there was still so much that they omitted that it only helped a little bit.
Bailey Glade. Hm, Rhys had the sneaking feeling they'd heard her name before, in passing. Maybe in one of their classes, from one of the Ravenclaws (who never seemed to shut up) or at the Gryffindor table at lunch or dinner, from one of the older students in their house. Whatever it was, Rhys recognized the name.
"Oh, um, I'm Rhys," They replied after a moment, for the moment leaving Bailey's offer go ignored. "I don't really have any nicknames," They shrugged. There was no way that they'd really be able to leave this situation without further concerning this girl. This girl who, for some reason, seemed so inclined to try and help them. If she hadn't been so obviously a Ravenclaw, Rhys would curse under their breath about being ambushed by yet another Hufflepuff. But, as it was, Bailey was severely dressed in blue clothing and apparently not a Hufflepuff. But that didn't stop her from reminding Rhys of one.

Before the child could leave, bailey made the decisions to speak up. After this meeting was over, bailey would wonder if speaking up had been the wrong thing to do. Even despite this, bailey knew that if she had been in a similar position to this child (who she learned was named Rhys) that she would have welcomed another person talking to her, partially because she was a lonley person before she found @kim sato and @colin mccoire and all of her other friends. kim and coco had been the ones to start her coming out of her shell. and now look at me she thought, smiling at herself.
Bailey introduced herself, and thought she saw a flicker of recognition at her name on the child's face. who doesn't know my name thanks to those baikim rumors bailey thoughts with an internal groan. Her smile only dropped for a millisecond when she thought of the slightly annoying rumors. Those rumors had started getting on her nerves more as of late, but she tried to brush it off.
The child introduced themselves as Rhys. Bailey grinned kindly and said "well- its really great to meet you Rhys, though i wish it had been for a better reason.. are you sure that you don't want to talk about anything? or i could always take you to dinner, we can eat together, and just enjoy each others company?"
Bailey was slightly unsure of how to best help, but she did not want to leave Rhys here alone.
