Fading Naivety
February, 2014
The doorbell. The foriegn ring echoed through the walls of the spacious interior. It was quite sometime since somebody visited. Nobody other than the Bezuidenhout family have stepped foot into the mansion for almost seven years. Adebard and Thellea had build the manior on a field they had apparated on. They had found the area to be serene and peaceful. They had only told a few trusted handful about the location so that they might find them only when necessary. It was barely even a dozen people who knew bout the mansion. The small family didn't want the Ministry of Magic or a salesman to be inturupting their peace during the middle of the day.
A blonde woman of early thirties put down the ceramic cup down onto the glass table creating a small clink of a noise. She let out a exasperated sigh as she stood up from the chair she had been sitting on for almost an hour. The cup was still full to the brim with tea that was now cold. Underneath the woman's eyes were puffy dark eyecircles, she was tired and weary. The woman reluctantly approached the entrance of the mansion. As she stood behind the door, she squared her shoulders trying to look as presentable as possible.
Thellea twisted the knob and pushed the door open slightly. A blast of freezing wind greeted her. It was snowing. An aging lady with greying hair stood outside waiting almost impatiently. Thellea thinned her lips slightly. It was the last person she had expected to be at the doorstep.
"Mother. I haven't seen you in a long time. She said, stepping to the right of the door so the woman would be able to enter.
"Thellea, it's nice to see you again, Her mother paused the moment she stepped her foot through the threshold. She looked into her daughters eyes, both so identical to the other, she placed a wrinkling hand on Thellea's shoulder.
"I'm truly sorry about what happened." the aging woman's voice was slightly coarsed but convincingly sincere. However, Thellea was not convinced, she was smart and intelligent. There was something more than pity in her eyes. She came to her doorstep for something more, that Thellea had to find out.
“Would you like tea? ” Thellea asked hospitably as she lead the woman to the sofa in the the living room, gesturing for her to take a seat.
“No thank you, dear.” The Leotasandra have her a gentle smile, then scanned the room, as if searching for something.
“Is Aurelia around?” She had finally asked after a brief moment of silence. Thellea tried her best not to scowl. That was what she had came here for. Who knew what she wanted with her daughter.
