Soon to meet @Amy Acree while on his rat hunt for Rascal

Simon Kincaid really didn't stand a chance for sanity that afternoon. It was a Sunday and he had already dedicated the morning to his independent religious studies and now had taken to the Library to try and finish up some research for an Herbology assignment. While he was enjoying this peace and quiet that allowed him to finish up the assignment with ease, his pet rat Rascal must have been quite bored - because he was gone!

Ah, rats. They had the most amazing ability to memorize, communicate, jump, and squeeze through gaps. They were nimble and quick and smarter than most people realized. Rascal Mackenzie-Kincaid was intelligent and he was fast - but what he had most was a thirst for exploration, for adventure!

Simon made sure all the ink was dry on the parchment before closing his notebook before slipping it into his enchanted satchel. He then placed a stopper over the bottom of his self-inking quill and slipped it inside as well. "Alright, Rasc. Thank you for being quiet enough for me to finish my work. Now let's get back to ---" and he lifted his head to see that he was talking to absolutely no one. The Hufflepuff scarf that had once belonged to Alexa Mackenzie, Rascal's former owner, was wrapped up there on the workspace beside him with no gray rat slumbering inside. "Ugh, Rascal!" he groaned.

Not again.

Simon stood up, snatching the scarf from the table and stuffed it into his bag as he looked around. That rat could be anywhere. Simon scanned the area for the Librarian and the school elves that helped out in the Library and knew they'd be around somewhere so he needed to keep quiet. "RASCAL?!" he shouted out as much as one could shout when still in a whisper. "Rascal, where are you, mate?"

He saw no movement in site, except for some others at the Library, either reading for pleasure or also trying to finish up a last minute weekend assignment.

He stepped out from the table he had been sitting at and past some book shelves to the center of the Library. "I'll give you a cookie if you come out and say hello."

Amy was sitting near a bookshelf, holding a book about charms basically right to her eyes, she was studying for when classes were starting.
She liked to be prepared, so she was writing down a bunch of charms and what they do.
She’d been doing that for about half an hour, as said before, she liked to be prepared
“Hm..” she wrote something down quickly.
She had been writing when suddenly a rat jumped from a bookshelf down to a page of her book, “oh..hello there” she was a bit spooked, not by the rat itself, by how quickly it came down. “Um..is anyone missing a rat?” She stood up slowly as to not scare the rat.
“Let’s go find your owner, yeah?” She said to the rat, she started to walk around the library, “Is anyone missing a rat?” She looks around again, walking around.
She continues to walk around the library, trying to find the owner of the rat, she also continues to call out as loudly as you can while in a library of course, she didn’t want to get kicked out of the library. She continues to look around, holding the rat gently in her hands.

Introductions and an odd rat with @Amy Acree

Normally the rat would scurry away, always eager to extend out a game of chase, but this time it didn't. This time the small gray rat just watched the girl that it had jumped near and watched her. He didn't dash off when she picked him up, nor as she began to carry him around.

"Rascal!" Simon whispered again as he bent down and got on his hands and knees and began surveying the bottom shelf of the bookcase he passed. There were some books laying diagonally and often Rascal liked to make those into a makeshift temporary home for himself while at the library so perhaps he was there. No luck.

"Yo, Rascal?!" he whispered again, this time turning the corner to walk the other side of the bookcase, looking in the middle section and then up high. This system was a rather silly one, for there was bookcase after bookcase after bookcase in the Library at Hogwarts, and by the time he would even investigate a section, Rascal could have darted off from one and circled back around to one he had just checked.

"Rascal, where are you, man?" he now sighed, getting more frustrated than irritated. Honestly, he did this to himself. He needed to start keeping Rascal in his dormitory because he was off doing this sort of thing more and more lately. It seemed maybe Rascal was growing tired of him or Hogwarts. Perhaps both.

Simon sighed and was about to call out again when he heard the girl and he turned around to see her holding Rascal. "Oh Merlin, there you are!" he said as he walked over to her. Rascal perked his head up at his voice but only to sort of coil into a ball in the girls hand. The rat looked up to the girl and the closer Simon got, the more the rat pressed itself into her hand.

"Thank you for finding him. He's....he's a downright pest at times," and Simon glanced down to observe the odd behavior. "What are you possibly doing now?" he asked the rat. Rascal stretched back out to a regular looking rat and sort of leaned in Simon's direction, just to spit out a hiss in his direction.

"I'm Simon Kincaid, hello. Pleasure to meet you. You seem to have found my rat who is in a particularly odd mood at the moment. Forgive him."

She let out a small laugh, “oh it’s alright, I was just over there studying, The little bugged jumped from one of the shelves, scared me a bit” she smiled at him, “Amy Acree, nice to meet you, Simon.” She said to him, gently trying to pass Rascal over to him.
“He’s a sweet thing, really” she smiled at him. As she’s still trying to pass the rat over as gently as she could.
She was holding the rat out to him, as she finally got the rat to stop hissing at him.
“He was probably a bit spooked at a new person holding him” she shrugged, still smiling.

She also noticed something was different about the boy himself, he was paler than most, his pupils were a bit dilated, she could only see that because of the low light of the library, she’s heard of many half’s of different things. She would never question anyone on it, she understood boundaries, she wouldn’t do that to someone.
Her hair began to fall in front of her face seeing as it was in its usual style, no style at all. She used her other hand to pull her hair back, the blue clips in her hair holding her hair back.
