Rina had felt asleep pretty earlier the night before, what is really uncommon for her. So when she woke up that morning she had plenty of time to prepare herself for classes. She was feeling super energetic, so after get dress and went through her normal morning routine she walked out from the Slytherin common room towards the owlery tower. She had a letter to sent to her cousin Rita, she hadn't write to her for a long time now and there were so much to tell. Also she had been curious about what news Rita would write her back, how was everything at Beauxbatons!

After the beautiful white-grey owl left the tower, Irina went back to her dorm to pick up her school bag with her needed supplies for classes. Her first class would be Defense Against the Dark Arts and she was really happy about it since that was her favorite subject at Hogwarts. So, after she eat her breakfast, a sweet toast with strawberry jam and coffee with milk she was never able to eat to much in the mornings, she grabbed her bag and went through the corridors towards the DADA classroom.

When she got there, there was not a lot of students yet, so she picked an empty table and set down on one of the chairs. After a few minutes, the room began to fill with students in green and yellow robes. One of the boys in yellow sat in the seat next to her. He had black hair and warm brown skin, Rina didn't remembered to had seen him before, what was odd since he had to be also a first year. Perhaps he was a Hufflepuff and the school was so big and they were so many students in all houses, plus their visitors from other magical schools during the Hexwizard Tournament...it would be normal if she hadn't crossed her way with him until now.

The lesson that day had been super interesting in Ree's opinion, she loved professor Orion and the ways he had found to teach them. The only thing she would discard if she could was to have to do homework! "Pretty interesting lesson, huh?" The boy asked her as soon as the class ended. Irina found herself smiling at him while starting to clean her table from her school supplies, "Yes! I love to be able to start making spells!" She answered enthusiastically. After packing everything into her bag she turned again towards him, "Irina Sousa, nice to meet you!" She said reaching her hand towards the boy in a greeting gesture, so he could shake it back if he wanted too.

Jalen nodded. "Make spells are pretty cool." He agreed, smiling. He shook her hand. "I'm Jalen Abbot, nice to meet you!"
He started observing details. She had long curly hair and hazel eyes. Her skin was a golden color, and she was very enthusiastic, from what Jalen could tell.
He noticed some people were leaving, and others were staying to talk to their friends or the professor. He decided to stay and talk to Irena. She seemed too nice to just abandon.
"This is my favorite class," he said, putting everything that was his off the table into his bag. "He teaches the coolest, most useful spells in this class."
Jalen was glad that he had made a new friend. He didn't have that many, but that was because he never really talked to anybody, as he normally confused them with his quick alter changes. But Irena didn't seem as though she would trigger any alters. She was nice, caring and kind enough to keep Jalen himself.
"What's your favorite class?" He asked Irina. He had just met her and was striking up a whole conversation, as introverted as Jalen could be sometimes, especially when he had just met somebody.

Jalen agreed to her, that making spells are awesome. Obviously! Who wouldn't like to learn magic? Thinking just about the possibilities it can bring to your life! How easier tasks can become, how fast you can travel to so many different and wonderful places!

"I'm Jalen Abbot, nice to meet you!" He introduced himself shaking back her hand. She felt it cold and got some chills from his touch but she tried to make him not noticing that. She didn't wanted to look rude or that he thought she didn't liked it or something! But her senses had always been to sensitive, not her fault she could pay attention to small things others may miss. He also seemed to be looking at her, she wondered if he had found something odd with her too...shaking this thoughts away, Rina cleared her throat before answering the question Jalen had made her, "It seems we have this in common!" She started smiling brightly at him, "I love DADA too! It's by far my favorite subject! Well...maybe flying class comes right after it!" She said with a small chuckle.

She stopped for a little, looking at him and trying to think something else to say. He seemed to be nice...she didn't wanted to leave, but she needed to find an excuse for them to keep talking...preferably without being weird! "So..." She said playing with her purse handle and biting on her lip, "Do you want to go someplace else?" Wow...that didn't sounded good right? Shit! "I...I mean..." Now that felt embarrassing...She thought feeling her ears getting warmer and for sure she would be turning red in no time, "Homework! Do you want to do our homework together?" She said maybe a little to fast when the saving idea of her dignity came to her mind, Yes! that sounded better! She concluded feeling a little less nervous and smiling at him, trying to show some confidence she was not really feeling at the moment. Oh Merlin! What's wrong with me! She thought desperately waiting for his answer.

As Jalen reached out his hand for her to shake, she took it and shook his hand. He felt her slightly shudder, and knew exactly what she was sensing or feeling. He was a little flustered, internally. And why, Jalen thought. Why did I have to be a dhampir? I could've been a metamorphous or something. But he knew he couldn't be mad at his great-grandpa. All he did was go into the woods and got attacked by a vampire.

Being a dhampir living in secrecy wasn't easy. He had to wear brown contacts over his red eyes. He had retractable fangs where his canines should have been. His skin was sensitive to strong sunlight, and he cried tears of blood. He just hoped that Irina had never felt a dhampir's touch... or recognized it, anyways.

He continued to scan Irina and noticed something he didn't before... she had small scars. They probably weren't noticeable if you didn't look well enough, but Jalen noticed them and found himself looking at them for a while. How could she have got those?

Finally, they let go of each other's hands. She said that she liked DADA and flying.
"Who doesn't?" Jalen said, smiling. There was a small pause of silence, as they looked at each other. Then, she said, "So....do you want to go someplace else?" Jalen noticed her quickly turning red after that. Jalen opened his mouth, thinking of how to respond when she exclaimed quickly, "Homework! Do you want to do our homework together?"
Jalen nodded. "Sure? Where did you want to go?"

"You like flying too?" She asked excitedly, "I love flying!" She admitted with a bright smile, her eyes showing a glint that revealed her passion for it, "You know, my dream is to become a chaser! Perhaps a professional one!" Rina said to him. Then a thought came to her mind, He hadn't asked you nothing about it! Right...perhaps she was talking to much! Maybe he had just tried to be polite after class and she went all chatty...was she annoying him? Stop being dumby! He also asked about other things! She thought putting her insecurities behind. She had been feeling like this lately, evaluating every look in her direction, if people were talking in her back or just making conversation with her to get to know the last little juicy fragment of what happened those nights at Slytherin's. She knew that many of the students already knew about her secret, about the pack, about her, Colin and...and Luci...she always felt a sting in her heart when she remembers about Lucian and what happened in their dorms.

Rina took a deep breath, she seriously needed to start to let go of those feelings, they always get her in such a sore and depressing mood...suddenly she noticed that she hadn't stopped looking at Jalen while her mind had been assaulted with all that thoughts. She felt her cheeks getting warmer with that realization, now he definitely will think that something is wrong with her! So she decided to break the silence by asking, in a very clumsy way, if he wanted to do his homework with her. She felt happy to see he had nodded in agreement, "Sure? Where did you want to go?" he asked her nicely. "Hum..." She thought about the different possibilities, she thought about the library...but that gave her a 'deja vu' unpleasant sensation so she discarded the idea immediately, "We can go to one empty classroom? We can find there what we need to do our homework and still keep talking without bothering anyone!" She finally suggested, "I mean...if...if you want to keep talking of course!" She said feeling a little embarrassed again.

"Same! I'm hoping to make the Hufflepuff Quidditch team because I'm definitely trying out." He said. "You going to try it, really?" She asked excited, "I've already signed-up for Slytherin's team too! Hope I'll have a chance to play for the team." She told him. "And hey! Wouldn't be fun if we got to play against each other?" She said laughing softly.

She then looked around and realized that the classroom was already getting empty of students and professor Orion must wanted to have his time, perhaps they should find some place else to keep talking. So when she found the courage to ask him if he wanted to go make homework together she felt relief that her embarrassing moment had not gone that bad. At least it seemed he didn't wanted to run from her and from her clumsy words. "Of course, I do!" He said to her, "We should probably go then, shouldn't we?" He asked nicely. She couldn't avoid the grin that had grown on her lips, she felt really happy that Jalen had accepted to go with her. To be honest, after so many bad things that had happened since the end of winter break, it felt like a new happy beginning at Hogwarts. A new friend, someone out of all the drama she had been through. It felt like a soft breeze of joy and a promise that everything will going to be fixed and be alright again. Perhaps this was what she needed, to face new realities to change perspectives and have new adventures inside Hogwarts' walls.

"Let's go then!" She said joyfully while putting her bag on her back and preparing to leave, "There's an empty classroom at the end of the corridor, I think we can go there without being bored and we'll be free to keep talking!" She said to him while putting her chair into it's rightful place closer to the wooden table. "You coming?" She asked with a friendly smile.

"I've already signed up for Slytherin's team too! Hope I'll have a chance to play for the team." She told Jalen. "And hey! Wouldn't it be fun if we got to play against each other?
Jalen smiled. "Yeah, that definitely would be cool! And interesting," He added. "I hope I'll get to play, too. I love Quidditch. I remember, when I tried to teach my mother-" His heart stung as he mentioned her. He had tried to teach her, but she was a Muggle. That was when she was alive, anyway. And nobody asked about his backstory, he realized. If he talked too much, he could lose his new friend as quickly as he got her.

He cleared his throat. "Yeah, Quidditch is fun. I like and enjoy." Jalen said. The classroom was empty now, and only Jalen,Irina, and the professor were in the room. Irina seemed to notice this too and asked Jalen if they could go somewhere else. Jalen said accepted the offer because the professor probably had things to do... without their presence. Jalen asked where they should go... Hogwarts was huge, there were so many places they could go! They agreed on going to an empty classroom that she said was down the corridor.

"Alright, let's go there!" Jalen said. excited. Irina started to make her way to the doorway, then turned around and asked, "You coming?" She said, with a warm smile. Jalen nodded, smiling. "Yeah. Let's go." He followed her.
