HERBOLOGY. Throughout Irene's many observations of opinions on school subjects, Herbology was the second most controversial, History of Magic being the first. During breakfast that morning, she had overheard two Slytherins complaining about how it was one of the most boring subjects to have ever existed, the idea of dirt and plants nauseating to them. On the other hand, Hufflepuffs seemed to enjoy the subject, which she had learned as she had hurried down to the first Greenhouse with a trail of students scattered behind her as they trudged through the grass. The idea of learning about flora and fauna was intriguing to them.

Irene was not sure what she felt. After all, it was her first Herbology class. The closest thing she had done to any gardening was routinely watering the spider plants and succulents at the manor.

Being the first student inside the greenhouse, she found the room itself quite peaceful and serene. Dewy glass panes made up the walls of the greenhouse, a thin glass door separating the area from what Irene assumed was the professor's office. Rows of tables lined with potted plants were found scattered all across the textured floor, and mist descended from out of seemingly nowhere, keeping the room the perfect temperature for the growing of plants.

As more students filed into the room, Irene hurried down the small path next to the tables, as close to the teacher's desk as she could get. She stopped at the station closest to the office, adjusting the strap of her leather satchel before examining the plants on the table in front of her. They seemed to be freshly potted Mandrakes; Irene had annotated the entire chapter on them in her textbook.

As she waited for class to begin, she looked around, her eyes searching for a potential candidate to talk to. If she were to even find someone, though, what would she even say? Thinking this over, she played with the ring on her finger mindlessly when someone suddenly approached her.

This is his first day at the castle. Stephen is excited; he forgets his home and his friends to focus on his new life. There are many things at Hogwarts that fascinate him: the ghosts, the other students, the paintings, even though he is used to them, the teachers, and his beautiful and wonderful dormitory! He talked with the other Gryffindors before he went to sleep, but he was so excited that he doesn't remember the conversations. Stephen is very happy to be here but he had forgetten that Hogwarts was a school. And at school, there are lessons.

For this first day, he had several classes where he used (or tried to use) his wand. He shaked it, it was very fun but the teachers grumbled at him. After many hours of lessons, Stephen stops having fun: it is so boring, the other students are serious and understand the instructions faster. When he was at Tinworth, the lessons were shorter. After the classes, he would go and play with his friends but here, the school day finish late. He saw his schedule: he will not have time to play after dinner! He wanted to see the park...

Not for today... He must go to Herbology class.

As Stephen enters the greenhouse, although he is tired and unmotivated, he is impressed. This is a beautiful place! He shoves several shoulders to get to the centre. He apologises with a smile but he is more interrested by the plants and the horrible think that he has nothing to do here.

He sees a Ravenclaw girl who seems calmer than the others. There are plants on the table in front of her.

"Oh my Merlin!" He moans, looking at the girl nervously. "This is a geranium?!"

Yes, this is a stupid question because it doesn't look like a geranium but Stephen is not a boy who thinks a lot. Actually, he is frightened. He has a memory in his mind which doesn't want to leave. He takes a step towards the girl.

"I'm really, really bad with the plants," he exlaims with a high voice. "Mum do loves plants. Her name is Katherine. She really loves that. But she hasn't plants in every room of the house, no, no! She has two or three plants are the same times."

That's right. When he left home, there was one in the living room, one in the kitchen and one in his mother's room. No more plants.

"One day, she had a geranium..." Stephen talks fast. "And I killed it!"

Stephen doesn't know how to tell a story, he spoils the ending.

"I killed it!" He repeats, waving arms. "Do you think I will kill these plants?" He asks the girl, lookink at the geranium wich is not a geranium. "I don't want kill anything..."

When he looks up, his eyes seems to be imploring.
