New Friends, New Enemies

"I'm honestly terrified" Azzy admitted to noone but themselves. After all, they were awkward enough as it stood. As they looked around, they were already able to pick up on the tension between Gryffindor and Slytherin. They took a breath and nodded, listening to Headmaster Lear's announcements, about half listening at this point. After all, it was their first day here at Hogwarts, the very same their adopted parents, Lucille and Parker had gone to all those years ago. They fiddled with their hair and looked at the candles, wondering what spell suspended them there. Their artistic brain started kicking in as they looked at the candles. How beautiful would it be to draw these? They strained their eyes to try and find any details, zoning out in the process. A million thoughts ran through their head, they began talking to themselves... again. "I wonder what beautiful details lie in the wax of the candles... Could they be intricate swirls? Beautiful patterns? So many questions not enough answers..." They seemed to become aggitated at the thoughts, forever taunting them. Azzy took her sketchbook out and began sketching the ceiling, their mind racing and their hand picking up pace as they glanced up. "C'mon. Azzy remember the shapes..." They looked around again, trying to find a design to put into the candles. The plainness was bugging the living heck out of them. They looked harder, finding a pattern on a picture frame. "Yes! Perfect!" They didn't mean to shout, but the room in their mind had emptied, leaving only them and the wonderful colors and patterns. Their brain working double-time to make sure they were satisfied with their works.

New Friends, New Enemies
It had only been 5 minutes since Nancy had been sorted into Gryffindor, a choice that shocked her silent. She had assumed she would get sorted into Slytherin just like her parents but that seemed not to be the case.
As she tried desperately to find a place to sit that wasn’t bustling with kids she settled in front of a small group of kids that were mainly keeping to themselves. She looked across to see a kid no older than her drawing silently, occasionally looking up to look at the candles they were drawing.
“Your drawing is really well done.” She whispered to them, her voice not going any higher for the fear of getting caught talking before Headmaster Lear was done explaining the rules and expectations.

@Nancy Berry
Azzy nearly jumped out of their skin after hearing the girl across from them speak. They gripped their chest. "O-Oh- Thank you." They whispered, the room returning to normal. "Sorry if my shouting agitated you, when I draw my brain kinda blocks everyone else out." They said quietly. They held out their hand to the girl. "I'm Azrael Faire, or Azzy if you'd like. I just got sorted into Gryffindor. What is your name and pronouns, so I don't misgender you." They smiled softly as their artistic mind kicked in yet again, watching the girl. Her fluffy, curly hair perfectly framed her face, the Hogwarts tie, nicely blending in with the surroundings. The way the light bounced off her skin in a delicate way. "Not to sound creepy, but your hair perfectly frames your face, the light does your skin wonders, and the tie throws it all together. My apologies for sounding creepy, it's a habit when my artistic side lingers." Now they knew they sounded creepy. They held the smile no less though, because they wanted her to feel welcome around them. Mom did always say a smile went a long way when you first meet someone.
