Asher groaned as he made his way to the library, he still wasn't completely used to the layout, but at least he knew the way to the library, however the shifting stair cases caused him to get lost a couple of times so he had to ask some of the older students for directions, which was embarrassing to say the least.

He usually went to the library whenever he needed a quite place to study or practice some spells (the less dangerous type). This time he went to simply read, he had some free time and decided to read some of the books the library offered on magic theory or spells.

Finally he reached the tall dark oak doors of the library, he entered and smiled at the sight of all the books that were well organized and maintained on the shelves. He walked to the section covering magic and started scouring for a book he could read, it was then that it hit him. One of his Defense Against The Dark Arts assignments required him to write about some dangerous magical creatures.

He almost slapped his head against the shelf for his stupidity, ever since he arrived at Hogwarts he has been to absorbed in learning magic that he started to forget some important and essential stuff, so he left the magic section and went towards the section that covered magical creatures. He doesn't know much about them so he just decided to start with an introductory book. "I will be here for a while won't I?"

The topic of the week is Hippogriff. This won't be another day she'll waste pondering over what to choose next. It's been so long since she entered Hogwarts but the young girl still couldn't get enough of the subject, the magical creatures.

Never in a hundred years did she think about the existence of Hogwarts or any other magical school. She thought it only existed in imagination and it all still feels like a dream she doesn't want to wake up from.

Being a muggle born 'a word she still couldn't get used to', she had been ignorant to all this stuff and now she got this wonderful opportunity to know as much as she could and make a living out if it in... distant future.

Tucking her messy hair which was forgotten to be combed behind her ears, she trod straight towards the magical creatures section, it being the only area explored so far. The girl was humming low to herself until a voice reached her ears which she found really attractive.

Stepping in front of the boy, she folded her arms with a squinted smile, "I hope you do-". When entering the library, she didn't expect a boy... Or a girl to be standing before her and... Talking to himself. Looking him up and down "- What I meant was, I could use the company and you look to be a really good one," before she took a quick glimpse on the bookshelf.

While looking for an introductory book on magical creatures a girl had entered the magical creatures section and answered his self spoken question, which franlky made Asher jump from surprise. "I hope you do-" she seemed somewhat surprised when she saw him but quickly continued to clarify what she said. "-What I meant was, I could use the conpany and you look to be a really good one,"

Asher couldn't see how she would think he of all people was good company, especially since they never met before, still he wasn't about to turn her down, especially considering the fact that she probably had more knowledge about magical creatures than him, at least he hoped she knew more than him.

He smiled nervously before speaking "Thanks. I could also use some company, since I am not much of an expert on magical creatures, and we had an assignment about one." he then squinted his eye remembering why he came to this section in the first place "Do you know anything about an introductory book to the subject or something like that?" he then remembered that he doesn't know what her name is and that he hasn't introduced himself. "Oh, sorry I didn't introduce myself did I? My name is Asher. Asher Blackjack, what's yours?" he silently hoped that he didn't come off as rude or ill manared.

Adya found the boy quite cute. The way he jumped when she spoke suddenly, the nervous smile that was directed towards her, simply made her heart skip a beat. She had never felt something like this before that's a lie.

Looks like he's enjoying her company too. "Wow, yes sure, I could help you with it" as she looked him in the eye. Adya walked past the boy a little too close and reached for the shelf, " Normally Fantastic beast and where to find them is the introductory book".

Adya had been there in this section about unhealthily many times and why wouldn't she help a boy like him? She finds no reason not to help. The girl bent a little and grabbed the said book, "This might be the one you're looking for-" as she tapped lightly on it. "Or if you have any specific creature in your mind, I can help you with that too," she stretched her arm to let him take the book with a hope he would brush her fingers.

Whoa! Why is his voice so good? That she could hear it all day "Oh I am sorry too, Nice to meet you Asher, I am Adya Oakes" as she reached out for a handshake. "-Oh and if you find it a little difficult to pronounce, call me A D" she added. It doesn't matter, she's going to like it no matter how he pronounces it.

The girl walked past Asher a little to close for comfrot to get a book after she agreed to help him with his deliema, he also mentaly noted that her eyes looked pretty. He muttered a small "Thanks" and smiled, she didn't have to help him and yet she did.

He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heared her speaking again. "Normally Fantastic beast and where to find them is the introductory book." "Oh! I acually read that book, I was looking for something related to more dark creatures." he felt bad for not returning her gesture as she found a copy of Fantastic Beasts

He had already read all of the books that were required for all first years, but they mostly covered the basics and didn't delve into more specific parts of the subjects they were covering. It seemed then that the girl realized that she hadn't introduced herself and started speaking. "Oh I am sorry too, Nice to meet you Asher, I am Adya Oakes" she then reached out for a hand shake which he immediately returned, he blushed a bit at the fact that he is now technically holding hands with a girl, even though it wasn't the first time he made such a gesture with a girl.

"-Oh and if you find it a little difficult to pronounce, call me A D" "Nice to meet you too Adya, it's a beautiful name actually so I think I will stick to calling you by it." he internally screamed at the fact that he actually said that out loud, wanting nothing more thanto crawl into a hole until the end of time.

" My pleasure!" as she rubbed her hands together. Her eyes sparkled a bit more with every smile he directed towards her. Anything he said with that voice! Even if it's a simple common word, she paused what she was proceeding to do and looked up and gazed into his hazel eyes with a glint of smile in the corner of her eyes.

" Oh, then we don't need it-" Adya's eyes lost the glint for a second. A little disappointment filled her face that she wasn't able to touch his fingers but Adya isn't going to stop here, is she? " - But could you please hold it for a second? I feel a... Insect biting me" she urged him to pick it up. A little pushy but who cares? She doesn't. In her defense, she gave a pretty believable reason for that. "- Ouch" she scrunched up her face, faking pain to make it more believable.

In the next moment "Dark creatures, you said? Like Acromantula? Basilisk? Or boggart? Or something like that?" Her fingers pointed with each name towards the ranges the books were arranged in. "Or...-" She dragged "- I came here to read about the hippogriff, you know- if you'd like, you're welcome to join" Adya looked back at him with a hopeful smile at the end.

Did Asher just blush? Adya bit her lips together to hide the widening smile of hers. Releasing her hand from his hold somewhat reluctantly, she tucked the somehow escaped strand of hair behind her ears again. "Your name is beautiful too- not more than your voice- I mean, has anyone said that before?" She chuckled at herself for getting nervous around boys. Honestly, she wanted to say this since the moment she heard him speak.

Asher noticed that Adya had a glint in her eyes which he couldn't quite put the reason for, she also seemed to be enjoying him getting flustered, but that could be his imagination. He was a little hesitant in following her request to take the book, her attempt at faking pain was...well not the best and the whole excuse just didn't make sense. An insect biting her?

He decided that there would be no harm done if he took it. "Sure." his fingers slightly touched hers which made the tip of his ears ever so slightly red. Damn it, why is dealing with girls so embarrassing?

The fact that he for some reason seemed more embarrassed around Adya than normal didn't help either. He didn't know whether it was because she seemed so relaxed and happy or if it was because she was simply a beautiful girl.

He was snapped put of his thoughts when he heared Adya speaking. "Dark creatures, you said? Like Acromantula? Basilisk? Or boggart? Or something like that?" Her fingers pointed with each name towards one of the the books that were on the shelf. "Or...-" she dragged on "- I came here to read about the hippogriff, you know- if you'd like, you're welcome to join" "Sure, it won't hurt to learn about a different animal, though I will have to get to the creature the assignment wanted, pretty sure it was an Acromantula."

Asher then noticed that Adya was fighting a smile from appearing at her face when she noticed his blush. "Your name is beautiful too- not more than your voice- I mean, has anyone said that before?"

Asher was as red as a ripe tomato, he was honestly baffled that someone would think like this of him which he wasn't sure was good or bad. "Umm...Ah...No, I...No, no one told me that about before." he didn't know what to say, he could barely look Adya in the eye. If before he wanted to crawl into a hole until the end of time, he now wants to erase all records of his existence.

There was a dithering in his gesture over grabbing the book from her, which Adya was able to sense. Was it too much? She usually has done more than this. The raven haired was just attempting to be modest all this while it being a new school of a somewhat different world and it was the first time they met. She simply didn't want to scare off a handsome boy with an amazing voice. There was a slim thought of quitting in her head before his hand grabbed the book away from her.

It was worth it! As hoped, their fingers brushed and a spark spread within and throughout her. There she caught a slighted change in his colour. Is it good? Or not? She didn't know but terribly wanted to. She has to keep the lid on for a while, not wanting him to run away the day they met. Hopefully there's more time for it. To not ruin her act, she arched herself to scratch her knee slightly. "Thank you" having the book back, she returned it to its place.

Rolling her eyes "Fine " she snapped before turning away from him. A simple no would have been much more better than what he just said. His diplomatic attitude just kind of irked her for a second. He started as if it was about be yes and ended it as a no. Realizing what she has just done, "I mean- uhm- I- it's fine, I'll get you one" Adya looked into his face in case it had any wrong emotion she liked not to witness today.

Ignoring the reddish look on his face, " seriously, no one? I am pretty sure they're all jealous of you", Adya turned to gaze at the shelves in search for the book he asked, Acromantula alongside the one she wanted, hippogriff which was nearly forgotten by her. Grabbing both, "Here you go-" Adya gave the one to Asher. Pointing at a bench near them "- I am going to go sit there, you're free to join" the girl walked past him to the place she usually sits, not expecting a bit if he's going to come after her. It will probably be another diplomatic no.

Asher noted that Adya seemed to happy whe his fingers brushed by hers, he dismissed the thought to prevent himself from getting embarrassed, Adya for her credit seemd to stick to the story of the bug bitting her.

Asher also noticed that Adya didn't seem to thrilled by his answer about reading with her, probably because he prioritized reading up on Acromantulas. Adya then seemed to realize what she said and started stuttering a bit "I mean- uhm- I- it's fine, I'll get you one" Asher almost smiled at the way she was embarrassed, it was nice change instead of him getting embarrassed.

She also ignored the fact that Asher was easily embarrassed and continued talking "seriously, no one? I am pretty sure they're all jealous of you" "I-umm- ah thanks" she then started searching for the books.

"Thanks" she searched through the shelves until she found a book on Acromantulas and one on Hippogriffs, she gave Asher the one about Acromantulas "Here you go" "Thanks"

She then pointed at a bench near them "I am going to go sit there, you're free to join" Asher looked at the book in his hand and thought for a moment, then he came to a decision. He sat close enough to Adya for them to be able to share a book, and he-surprisingly- didn't get embarrassed."You know Acromantulas can wait, can you tell me a bit about Hippogriffs? If you don’t mind sharing your book with me that is. Asher scratched his cheek a bit nervously, he wasn't sure if that was too bold or just rude, so he will have to see Adya's reaction to find the answer.

When Adya looked at him, there she spotted a hint of a smile on his lips. Definitely not the one she predicted to witness for snapping at him. What is so pleasant about that? Out of everything she said, this boy seemed to enjoy this? Although it's a relief it's not any of the negative emotions.

Though her lips quivered with a quick smile, Adya was a little, but only a tiny bit mad at him for dismissing her. "-Shhh save up your thanks" Adya chuckled as she received so many thanks at once. Pointing a smile towards him, "Really, it's the least I can do- Also will be happy to help with your Acromantulas, of course only if you need any" before she strode away to the bench.

Taking a seat on her beloved bench all alone, "Have fun with your Acromantulas" Adya muttered to herself. Adya started flicking through the pages with a long face. Out of the corner of her eyes, she could sense someone taking a seat on the same bench. But it is only when the person neared her, did her eyes paused in the middle of the page as she recognized who it was. A smile stretched throughout her face as Asher started speaking.

Adya didn't even try to hide her smile. She couldn't look at his face either. They were sitting so close that she wanted to sneak a look at his face. But somewhat worrying that she'd scare him off by gawking for a long time, she kept staring at the book until her face would lost the tinge of red.

Asher says Acromantulas can wait! He chose her over Acromantulas! Finally looking back at his face "Yeah- Su-". Her eyes widened a little at how close they were sitting, she paused mid sentence. "I mean sure- And you look more handsome close up-" she pushed the book in the middle of them. "-By the way, one should be careful with their mannerism in front of Hippogriff, that's everything I know for now". Turning back to page one, "We'll know more about everything by the end of the day" she gawked back at him.
