Adya Emerald Oakes was born on the morning of 20th December 2010 as the first child of Srimayee Oakes and Oliver Oakes. Adya means first in Sanskrit one of the various meanings at least, her parents want to be first in everything she does and they gave her this name. And also because she was the first born.
Adya's father, Oliver was born and brought up in London, England. Srimayee, her mother was born in a city in Tamilnadu, a southern part of India. Her schooling was done in India and it was for higher studies, she came to London and made friends or should I say more than friends with Oliver and that turned into an actual relationship, turned into love.
The earlier years of marriage were really fine but the latter wasn't as smooth. At some point in time, they decided to part ways. At the age of seven, Adya and her sisters were brought to her grandma's house in India by their mother. It was the time she felt disconnected from her parents and it was also the time when her grandma managed to nearly fill the gap her parents couldn't. Though she stayed only a year and returned back to her home in London after a year, a special bond was already formed between them. Since then, her grandma visited her more often.
Adya lives with her parents and two sisters if the regular visits of her grandma are not counted. Her parents always nagged her for not being a responsible child and it always bothered her that she was the only child of theirs receiving this speech treatment.
They pointing out every action of hers turned into argument and that argument turned into a verbal fight and the cycle went on and on. And that is the only way she learnt to spill her heart out.
Adya spent most of her time with her two bestfriends before Hogwarts and promised that they'd send letters to eachother often.
When a professor of Hogwarts approached about her being schooled at the said school, her family somewhat seemed against it. They were both worried and confused about what to say about her whereabouts to their relatives and other close circles. However, because of her stubborn attitude, her parents agreed on that, although only half-heartedly.
On a cold evening, two weeks before her 10th birthday, Adya was in her bedroom with a book, her elbows propped up to support. Just like many other days, her parents were arguing with one of their children... Or maybe the other way around, luckily she escaped that day.
Maybe the god knew her day was already rough enough that he distracted them away from her. Suddenly, her phone popped up with an unexpected text from an unexpected person which caused a sudden shift in her mood.
The girl kept staring at the text with a smile until she looked up to see the purple-painted walls of her room suddenly turned reddish. And no, there wasn't any reflection or anything. In shock, she was on the verge of yelping out to her mom, "Ma - no I probably went insane", the girl forced herself to sleep.
(The door was somewhat ajar when her Adya murmuring reached her mom's ears as she walked past her bedroom. Stopping abruptly as she noticed the colour change, she opened the door furthermore gingerly. Her lips parted with shock as she looked around at the wall. Her eyes moved to her daughter who was lying with her eyes shut tightly. Within a very few seconds, it turned back to normal. She nearly quivered.
Not wanting to freak out Adya as well, her mom stayed just outside her room, her eyes on her daughter, as she made a call to her husband and explained everything to him in a shaky voice. "It's basically nothing, don't freak out- you should have waited until I reached home, honestly- I've already told you that My sister's a witch" he sighed.
She fumed with anger, "What the heck is wrong with you? How's it nothing? And why out of nowhere are you grumbling about your sister? Seriou-". Cutting her off mid-sentence "-Shhh I'll explain everything when I am home, please stop worrying, okay? Bye". "How the hell will I stop worrying?" She grunted as she ended the call.)
It was unbelievable, how could the wall change colour. She doesn't think her home has that much technology. Whatever she will not sleep alone that night. And she's definitely not sharing this incident with her parents, they would think it's a joke. Although it was quite unusual that her mom kept staring at her and literally followed her everywhere until her father reached home
