Closed Familiar Surrondings

Like many days before this, Lucas had woken up annoyingly early and decided to explore and look for anything of interest around the school's halls. Unsuprisingly, in no time at all, he found himself lost. The ever moving stair cases continued to confuse him and take him to floors he had no reasons to be on, which didn't do favours for his mood, but unlike the last time he had got lost, he didn't want this to ruin his day, and instead simply continued to explore for the time being.

It was a stroke of luck that he found himself eventually wandering around the corridors of the second floor, as he had gotten lost here once before, and he vaguely remembered how to get back from this area. However, it was still early and he didn't feel quite up for heading back to his dorms yet, and instead slowly began to pace up and down the corridors, his gaze directed down towards the floor, as he paid no attention to what was happening around him or even where he was going. Instead, he was just letting his mind wander, trying to think up something entertaining to do for the rest of the day.

Ayuna awaked to the steady patter of rain upon her window, droplets yet to scatter the nascent rays of rising sun. The sound brings a calmness to mind, a soothing melody, a natural lullaby. This was the good part of early mornings, the silence and quietness. Solitude.

It was six in the morning, half an hour early of her usual routine. That leaves her an hour all to herself before breakfast. Normally, she would just read awhile in the library or write some homework in her dorm. But today was different, she didn't feel like studying or reading anything. Instead, the girl would creep down the corridors, exploring all the little nooks and crannies in Hogwarts.

That soon proved to be a problem. The staircases were a large maze weaving up and down. And if that wasn't enough, the maze was constantly moving! Always there are more paths than platforms. Ayuna slumped, hands in pockets, confusion clouded her mind. After about 10 minutes of staring and thinking, the girl gave up on any hope to find the way. She wandered around, examining the statues of knights and the moving portraits.

Suddenly- WHAM!-the girl collided with someone. "Ouch!" she yelped, rubbing her head and eyeing the student who had just ran into her. The boy had blonde hair and green eyes, and much, much taller than her. She looked like an elf compared to that boy."What do you think you're doing?" she asked, puffing out her cheeks and trying to stand as tall as possible, "Watch where you're going!"

This was an unfortauntely familiar situation to Lucas, as he felt someone bump into him. He bit back his intial instinct to snap at her, and instead whirled around to face her. Unfortunately, he initially looked at his own eye level, which she was far from. After a moment, he quickly looked down, and the phrase "Wow, you're short." accidentally slipped out before he could stop himself.

After another moment, he frowned. Should he aplogise? Probably, but he wasn't exactly sure how sensitive she would be around her height, but he had other things to worry about. Somehow this incident wasn't his fault, and he had to figure out how it wasn't, and how to convince her of that. "Always ravenclaws.. You know, I'm not so convinced about how intelligent you lot are anymore." He began with a small grin. "I think it's pretty obvious what I was doing, I was walking. Not sure it's a good luck for Ravenclaws to be unable to figure out that much." Again, was it harsh? Potentially, depends on how she takes it. But, he wasn't keen on taking the blame for having walked into two different Ravenclaw girls on accident.

"But you know what, maybe that works both ways? You couldn't have been looking particularly well if you didn't avoid me?"

What the boy said was not what Ayuna had expected. Short? He had the audacity to call her short? The girl narrowed her eyes and glared at the boy. "I am not short!" she said, puffing out her cheeks and frowning. "I have already grown at least foot since the summer." she protested. It wasn't the best answer but that was the first thing that came into her mind and she'll have to stick with it. Despite all her reasoning, it still didn't take a genius to figure out that Ayuna was quite short, much shorter than that boy, at least.

Her hands reached up quickly to fix her messed hair. There were two things Ayuna hated in the whole wide world, messing up her hair and someone pulling her hair. The girl was determined to keep her hair as perfect and neat as possible and never wanted it to look like a stupid bird nest. After a few seconds, she tied her hair into a high ponytail, so that her hair wouldn't be messed up anymore by stupid boys who doesn't know how to walk and bumps in to people.

The girl folded her arms firmly and looked at the boy from her small height, "I, of course, can figure out that you were walking." she scoffed, tucking a piece of hair she missed behind her ear, "Except you're probably walking blind and stupid at the same time. I have to say, you Gryffindors aren't as brave as I thought. A simple thing such as apologizing to someone you've just bumped into isn't really a thing that requires much courage, is it?" she said sarcastically, "But you still can't do it because of your stupid dignity." It wasn't the kind remark, but that's what works best on annoying boys who is stupid and blind at the same time.

As for the boy's last comment, the girl rolled her eyes dramatically. She knew she didn't look particularly well but the boy doesn't have to know that. Instead of admitting the fact that she was also wrong, Ayuna just puffed out her cheeks and replied, "For your information, I was looking particularly well to where I was walking. It was you walked into me and messed up my hair!"

"You're not..? Nevermind." He seemed taken back by her defending her height, but decided not to push any further as she definetly seemed sensitive. Her claims to have grown a foot suprised him even more, but he figured some of it was just empty boasts to cover up her lack of height. In all fairness, he wasn't even sure if he really was short, he knew he was taller than average, so perhaps she was closer to being average.

The attempts at fixing her hair was something that he related to greatly, and he found his own hand gravitating towards his own messy hair. He didn't much effort into styling it, but over the day, his fringe had fallen down onto his forehead, so he spent a few moments just running his hands through his hair to try and sort it quickly.

"If you knew, why'd you bother asking?" He asked, before quietning down as her rant continued. "I wouldn't say I was walking stupid." He interjected. Her comments about his bravery as a Gryffindor did echo some of his own at times, as he would actually agree that he didn't exactly fit into many of the Gryffindor tropes, not that he was going to complain about this, as he was pleased with his house. "I dunno, I think it's mroe stupid for me to apologies for something I'm not entierly at fault for." He countered with, which he didn't think was a particularly unfair claim for him to make.

"Oh no.. Your hair." He shook his head overdramatically, letting out an exegerated sigh. "I'm so so sorry.." His hand once again subconsciously combed through his own hair at the mention of messy hair, as he paused to try and think of some kind of retort to the other points.

Ayuna just glared. Boys, are always like this, always teasing and making fun of everything. She stuffed her hands into the pockets of her robe. She felt around. Her blood suddenly froze and just stood there, eyes large. Where was her wand? Looking around desperately, the girl tried to find it. She hoped that the boy wouldn't notice and couldn't tell she was looking for something.

Her eyes moved to the boy's hair. A bird nest to be exact. It looked as if birds had laid eggs on his head and then died. Boy, was his hair messy! Upon seeing him comb through his hair, the girl smirked and quickly smoothed the ginger locks on her shoulders, yet again. She didn't want to look like a freak, unlike this boy.

"Well, how are you walking then?" she asked, egging him on, "Impulsive? Ignorant? Dense?" The girl snipped, a glint in her eye, "There is a thin line between bravery and stupidity, I believe you've crossed it ages ago..." Her voice trailed off as she continued to looked for the missing wand. "Where on earth is my wand!" she muttered, but maybe her voice was a bit too loud because the boy obviously heard it.

She rolled her eyes and folded her arms once again in front of her chest, "Stop being so sarcastic!" she said, ignoring the fact that she had been sarcastic only seconds ago, "Where did my wand go?"

Lucas returned her glare, and noticed her eyes widening slightly, but failed to notice what it was that had caused the reaction. He didn't think he'd said anything that would cause that much of a reaction, but he couldn't quite think of what else it would be.

How was he walking? The question stumped him for a moment, as it didn't really seem like it had a real answer, and he also felt like he was being baited into saying something stupdid by accident. Although, he'd already to being confrontational with her, so he had to double down. "I'm just walking." He said plainly, the normal sarcastic and teasing tone absent. "Sure, the two are close to each other, first halfway decent thing you've said. But me saying you're just as at fault isn't stupid nor brave."

Then as she said about loosing her wand, and telling him to stop being sarcastic, his grin returned. "Ironic." He said to her later comment, as his eyes began to scan the floor around them. Eventually he spotted it, slightly behind his foot, a combination of his robes and his foot probably obscured it from her vision. He leant down, and quickly grabbed it, pondering over what he should do. He did actually want to give it back, he knew some people really cared about their wands, and she could get genuinly upset, but at the same time, it could be funny. Instead, he would simply be quiet for the moment, but also made no effort at hiding the wand, wanting to see how she would react.

Ayuna hadn't expected this to happen. Her wand missing? Grams would be so angry her granddaughter had lost something so important in just 2 months! The girl could almost hear how her grandmother would say. "Ayuna, how could you be so careless? Losing a wand in only two months? Is that what you want to end up, untidy and careless?" Ayuna was pretty sure Grams would say this, the many creases on her symmetrical face crumpling once more. How could I be so careless? she thought, wanting to cry, What will I do without my wand?

Her bottom lip quivered, tears about to flow out. “Don't cry, she thought, trying to keep her tears in, Don't cry! She didn't and she was grateful for that. Ayuna would never, never cry in front of a boy. As a girl who deeply cared about her ego, she would never allow embarrassment, let alone crying. Yes, she is a crybaby, but she'll have to hide it for the moment. "Yeah, yeah, anyone can tell you are walking." she retorted, strong again, "You're just trying to hide the fact you are at fault and is walking stupid and blind." she said plainly.

The girl continued to find her wand. "This is not ironic!" she raised her voice, about to be fired up but kept her tone cool. Suddenly, she noticed something the boy was holding - a wand which is obviously not his own, "Give it back!" she said angrily and clenched her fists. Making a grab and the wand, standing on the tip of her toes, the girl still couldn't reach it. She was too short to reach the wand. "You thief!" she shouted, reaching for her possession, "Give me back my wand!"

"I didn't mean the wand, I.. nevermind." He trailed off, he meant more the sarcastic comment was ironic from her, but he didn't want to bother arguing on that. Instead, he simply raised his hand higher, making sure that she couldn't reach, not that he probably had to raise it much, but never the less, he did.

"My great friend, Miss.. Uh, I dunno.." He realised he didn't know her name, but once again his voice was laced with the sarcastic and jokey tone that it had been earlier. "I'm not a thief, it must of just slipped when we walked into each other, but I think that we can come to an agreement over this wand. You want it back, and I might have sounded a bit harsh, but I'm no thief.." and despite what current circumstances may suggest, Lucas was far from a thief, and actively disliked them if anything.

"I think maybe.. You admit you walked into me, and I'll give you this back, and we can split paths and be done with this." Maybe it was unreasonable, but Lucas felt it was a fair deal, as he did think she held some blame in their clash, but this was probably the only way he could get her to admit any kind of fault.

Ayuna tried to reached it. She jumped, but the boy only raised his hand higher. Now Ayuna was really hating her height. Why on earth did she have to be so small? There is numerous advantages of being short, such as not being noticed or able to sneak in tight spaces. But there is also disadvantages, the main one not being able to reach a wand in a stupid boy's hand. The girl glared at him, "Give it back you thief!" she shouted, clenching her fists.

”WHAT!?" the girl shouted, glaring at him. As you might know, there are two types of 'what'. The first one is because you didn't hear what someone was saying. The second type of 'what' is when you can't believe what someone is saying. The 'WHAT' Ayuna said in this occasion is the second type. She couldn't believe the boy was actually threatening her with the wand. "I never knew lions were this cowardly," she mocked, not showing an ounce of fear. "Threaten someone with their most prized possession isn't really a lion you know. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is the exact thing of a stupid cat who doesn't even know what courage mean!"

She calmed down and thought about the boy's words. Admit she did something wrong and he would give it back? She sighed. "Okay it's my fault and probably didn't look when I bumped into you." she muttered, teeth clenched. Although you were walking blind and stupid." the girl added quietly to herself, "Now GIVE ME BACK MY WAND!!!" she growled, flames flickering in eyes.
