Christmas arrived followed by waves of happiness and presents. Everywhere, Christmas trees with colorful ornaments and beautiful lights could be seen. The air was filled with happiness and joy - the perfect Christmas atmosphere that would make everyone forget all their troubles and sorrow.

"Rudolph the red nose reindeer, had a very shiny nose..." Ayuna hummed as she skipped down Diagon Alley, passing Gringotts, passing Flourish and Blotts, and finally stopping at a small cozy shop with the words: Magical Menagerie. Standing there, the girl couldn't hide the wide grin on her face. Ayuna had been saving up all year for this special present! Actually grandma chipped in a little but that is not to be known. She had hoped to have a companion when living in Hogwarts and since Tom and Snow couldn't come, buying a pet was probably the best option.

Upon pushing the wooden doors, a delicate and sweet aroma filled the air. The girl stepped inside, looking around in awe. There were animals of different types, all so lively and welcoming the girl with their squeaks and tweets and meows and hisses. "Hello dear," a warm voice greeted, "Are you buying a pet?" Ayuna jumped, a petite old woman wearing a floral dress was standing behind her, smiling merrily, "Merry Christmas!" she said. "Thanks! I am indeed choosing a pet." the girl replied, "Can you help me find a cute one?"
"Of course dear!" the elder woman said and led her towards some animals, "I am Anita Witticker. Oh, and meet my husband, Ernest, he handles the animals." A old man who is a foot taller than Anita smiled, "Well, little customer, what pet would you like?" he asked tilting his head, "An owl perhaps or a cat, a ferret or a cute mouse that squeak, which one would you like?"

"May I have a mouse?" the girl said, her gaze caught by a furry little gray thing, Can I buy that? He's so cute!" Ernest grinned and carefully took the little thing out of the glass cage, "Here you are," he said, "take care of him! What are you going to call him?" Ayuna cupped the gray rat into her hands and looked at him lovingly, "I'll name him Hardy! she suddenly said, "He looks like a rock and seems just as tough."

As Ayuna walked out of the shop with her new companion, Hardy, the old couple smiled and said "Remember to take care of Hardy." "I will!" the girl said, "I promise I will take care of Hardy!" With that, she exited the shop, so jolly and full of happiness.
