Letters to family Solo

After a few days of thinking, Sophia decided to use the magical way of delivering letters to her muggle family, owls. She kept tangled for days because she is afraid that her muggle family will be scared by an owl bumping into their house. She finished her letter in the warm common room, climbed several staircases, and reached the chilly owlery since the owlery is close to the Ravenclaw common room. The owlery is always colder because all the windows have no glasses. Sophia seized her coat tighter. She reached for a barn owl and tie the envelope to its strong leg. It turn and faced the outside firmament, kicked the stone window sill, and flew away leaving Sophia to keep staring at the blank sky with her hollow different colored eyes.

Dear mom, dad, and Heather,

How are you back home? Hope you are doing well.

I'm fine here. Life is so different from the muggle (People that have no magic power) world. Magic makes life a lot easier! Mom and dad, don't tell Heather that there is no magic in the world, but say there is fantastic magic and she may become a witch one day herself!

The classes are super different from the old school. We don't take English or math but charms, transfiguration, astronomy, history of magic, potion, and more fascinating class. In fact, everything is newfangled here compared to back home. I will introdos introduce more when I'm back home.

The Hogwarts caste castle is huge and ancient but sophisticated. The complicated magical staircases are always moving which makes me confused a lot when I'm climbing. Hogwarts has four houses. I'm in Ravenclaw, which symbolizes wit and learning. The house color is blue and bronze, an eagle is the representation of the house. 1st years pass a sorting ceremony that night when we just arrive. Each house has its own comon common room. There are three other houses, I will introduce back home. We also got different daily wear. We wear robes with our house badge on them for "school uniform" in the muggle world.

Overall, life here is so much different from home and a lot more fun. Looking forward to your reply soon.

Yours,
Daughter and sister Sophia

Ps: I apologize and hope you are not scared by the special messenger, they don't harm. That's what we use here for mail delivery and please get used to it because I'll always use them when sending letters back home. To reply, simply tie the complete letter to the owl's leg like I did and it will know where to go. Remember to keep an eye on our neighbor because it is strange to have an owl with a letter in the muggle area.

It's a morning when the owl came back.
With a muggle paper tied to its leg sloppily. Sophia smiled. Looks like her inexperienced muggle family struggled with the tying part. Sophia unfolded the envelope. The family replies using the muggle typewriter.

Dear daughter Sophia,

It's a great pleasure that we received your letter from the magic school!

But we must say that we did get scared by the owl at first, Heather even screamed. But we find out the owl is well domesticated by your school and is so meek and cute. Heather played with it for a little while.

It's happy to hear about your school, my daughter. It does sound a lot more interesting than the muggle (is that right? what you called us non-magic people?) world. We are amazed by the different houses and congrats on getting sorted to Ravenclaw which represents wit and learning! We always know our sweety has great intelligence! And don't worry about us, we are doing pretty well. Focus on your magic study, making new friends, and adapting to the new community.

It's fine that you don't get familiar with the environment at first, everyone does (at least muggle family children do). So don't worry, we trust our smarty sweetheart can get used to it.

Any requirements or needs for your life there, tell us and we will give it by the owl you send to us. And also, do you want to come home for Christmas or stay in Hogwarts? It's fine if you want to stay there, to enjoy the magical atmosphere. But keep in touch with the owl. (We guess muggle technology doesn't work there?)

Yours,
Mom and Dad

Ps: We made sure before we let the owl fly if there are neighbors.

Dear family,

Hope you are all perfect.

Yes, most of the owl is meek and cute here. The owl in the magic world is all professionally domesticated for mail delivery service. It is convenient as the owl can fly, and they fly very quickly. (But once I've met a grumpy owl that bites my finger hard while I'm tying the letter)

Yes. The term muggle means non-magic people (No belittle meaning with this word) And thanks for congrats on my sorting! I know your job is pretty busy, mom and dad. I will not worry about you and please don't concern about me too much either. I'm doing well.

I will focus on my study and work hard, please rest assured. Do you want my score records? I can show you by owling it. I'm also making new friends, some are even from another house! I'm getting gradualy gradually familiar and attuned to the school, and love it more!

Thanks, mom and dad for considering. I will ask if I have any difficulties or needs. Thanks again. I need to apologize here because I already decided to stay at Hogwarts for this Christmas. Because I want to hang out and have fun with my friends that are staying as well a bit more. I miss grandpa and grandma. Kiss them for me when you are at Welsh to celebrate Christmas with them.

That's right! You are both so smart, mommy and daddy! Muggle technology has no use here. No phone calls or anything here is possible because it's been banned by magic.

Best wishes,
Sophia

Ps: I might need to wait for a little to let the owl go because the weather is bad.

Dear daughter Sophia,

Is your school life going well?

This will be a shorter letter because mom and dad get busy this week again before Christmas.

Be careful while contacting owls. Because they are however still wild animals. We will not concern about our daughter too much, because we know she is smart and sensible. It's great to hear you are focusing on learning. Keep going and we will rest assured : ) It's fantastic if you want to owl your report card to us, we will like to have a read on the varieties of classes you take and your scores.

It's ok if you want to stay there, no apologies need. And of course, we will kiss grandpa and grandma for you and pass your regard.

Olivia and Candice has come together to our home yesterday and wondered where you are. We just told them you are at Welsh with Grandpa and Grandma for now. We want to ask you if it is ok to tell them about your special (for them) school.

Yours,
Mom and Dad

Ps: Your spelling seems to progress a little, that's great!

Dear family,

I'm doing well! I seem to adapt to my new school a little more.

I understand, mom and dad, that you are always busy before the Christmas holidays. You don't need to reply to my letters if you are too busy, but I will keep sending them. I will watch out. I know they are wild animals, and as I only get bite once and that's not big deal. As you are happy to see my report card, I will send it to you around Christmas.

Are you already started preparing and decorating for Christmas? Heather, help mom and dad with something you can do so they won't be that tired. Please understand that mom and dad are busy, and I'm not around here to help.

Oh! Olivia and Candice come to our house. Umm, I would say just tell them I'm at grandparents' house for now, because I'm not sure what I should do if they somehow spread out. And please pass my miss to them.

By the way, just to tell you, I'm saving up for my own owl. It's nearly about the amount and I'm preparing a few days later to purchase it. I'm so delighted about having an owl myself!

Dear daughter Sophia,

Is everything going well?

We still have time for your letter, don't worry. After Christmas is a perfect time as we will have more leisure. Yes, we already purchased a small Christmas tree, and no concerns, Heather did all the tree decoration and some rooms', she said she likes to put those twinkling balls and bright light strings onto the tree. Heather did more work on decoration than we did! We invite your friends to our house yesterday and do what you told us. We also passed your misses.

It's great you are saving up for your own pet owl! We hadn't given you a pet when you are here because you are too small, but it's fine now. Please tell us when you adopt it successfully and if possible, send us a printed picture as well! We'd like to see the beautiful owl of yours.

Yours,
Mom and Dad

Dear family,

Can't believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve already!

Are you guys finished with the decorations? I think you are probably in my grandparents' home right now.

I've purchased my pet owl!!! The mesenger messenger of this letter is my owl, it's an arctic owl. The feeling when you are touching her is so great because it has thick feathers. You can keep and play it for a few days and then reply because I'm not in need of it except for writing letters to you. Therefore, I don't need to send you any pictures.

Hogwarts has great food. I love the pumpkin juice.

Also, how are Grandpa and Grandma? How are they doing? They are getting older.

And to all of you, an early merry Christmas!

Dear daughter Sophia,

Deary, we are so happy you've got an owl you could play and deliver mail with!

You're right. We just arrived when your owl came to Grandparent's house. Can't believe how smart it is to know we are here! Heather loves it! But we still think it's better to keep the time short between our letters.

Grandparents are doing well. The fresh air in the countryside brings a positive impact to their long-term health. So don't worry my dear.

Don't forget to practice your violin! Also, remember to enjoy your life at Hogwarts.

Merry Christmas to you and your friends as well!

Yours,
Mom and Dad

Ps: A package that contains some Christmas gifts was also attached to the owl.

Dear family,

By looking at the date you wrote the letter, I'm delighted to see that it seems my owl has better speed! The delivery time was reduced to two days.

I did practice my violin a bit, but it's a little challenging to manage between it and adapting to the school environment, so I apologize.

Thank you so much for the books and a toy for my owl! It's really kind of you.

The Christmas feast is delicious! I love the turkey and roast potatoes. What did you guys eat for Christmas eve?
