Valarie was so excited. Today was the day she would be adopting her pet. Still debating between what type, Valarie ran through her options:
A owl
A cat
A spider
Her first choice was definitely a cat but not any type, she desperately wanted a Chartreux cat. Chartreux cats were a beautiful solid gray cat. They were gentle and loving. Valarie had wanted one her whole life. Searching for the shop, Valarie seemed to walk faster the closer she got. She arrived at the shop. A smiling couple grinned at her as she enter the shop. The creaking door made her grimace. She stalked over to the spiders. After giving them a quick glance, she walked over to the majestic owls. An Arctic owl screeched at her and ruffled its bright white feathers. A smaller owl hopped over closer to Valarie. Another owl began screeching and she heard a shopkeeper fuss at the owl to hush.
“Such a talkative owl, aren’t we,” chuckled the elderly woman. Valarie smiled. She admired the owls one last time before turning to find the cats. She walked over slowly. The first cat she laid eyes on was a beautiful black kitten. She drew closer to the small cat.
“Hey kitty kitty. What’s your name?” She whispered to the cat. She cat leaped over to her and meowed. Giggling, Valarie scooped the goofy cat and brought it over to an another black cat. She looked around, trying to find a gray cat. She spotted several orange cats, black cats, a handful of brown cats, white cats, a few gray cats however not the fully gray she was looking for. She was about to give up and get another cat when a soft meow silenced her thoughts. Her head turned around so fast she got a little dizzy. She gasped. A Chartreux. He was beautiful with the boldest green eyes she’d ever seen. Hands down he was the most beautiful and lovable looking cat she’d ever seen.
“Hey buddy. What’s your name?” She walked closer before sitting down next to the Chartreux. She ran through her list of name ideas. If it was a girl it was going to be Silvermist or Lenie, but if it was a boy she was definitely naming him Fred. She had gotten the names from things from her life back home in Scotland. Silvermist she had chosen because of the Chartreux’s silvery coat, Lenie after her mother’s cat, and Fred after her very own Fred from back home. Fred was the name of a cat at an animal shelter nearby her home. He wasn’t very friendly and still hadn’t been adopted since Valarie arrived at Hogwarts. Valarie knew it from the moment she laid eyes on the beauty. He was going to be her cat. Valarie scooped Fred up in her arms and brought him to the counter to adopt him.
“Hello!” Valarie said cheerfully. “I would like to adopt this cat.”
“Ah yes. You’ve chosen a good cat there, a bit shy but he’ll come around. Valarie smiled and scratched Fred behind the ears.
“You see, your cat there just celebrated his third birthday. Born on September 27th. He’s a good boy. Like I said, he’s a touch shy but I’m sure you’ll be just what he needs. And a Chartreux! We don’t get much of those. You have fun with him!” Called the shopkeeper after Valarie after she had paid and gotten everything set up for Fred to go home with her.
“You ready to go home, Fred?”
