Abandoned Thoughts
It was in Alexx's nature to wander off and get lost in her head. Taking twists and turns until she had lost herself. It was the carelessness she so desired while her family was on the run. The thoughtlessness she wished to have, a part of the childhood she never knew. She didn't pity herself, rather, she thought deeply about what could have been. Fantasy was always better than her reality.
That was how Alexx wound up in the abandoned toilets. She only knew it was abandoned because of the mess that it was. It was a rather nice thinking spot, however. So, consequently, Alexx found herself looking at her reflection in the mirror, smiling absentmindedly.
"Oh, if I only had a friend to share these thoughts with." She sighed, thinking out loud. Alexx was too dramatic, too Shakespeare, for her own good. It was as if Juliet were calling out for Romeo, not expecting him to coincidentally be there. Things like that were just too mystical, too unrealistic, and yet Alexx plaid this game hoping that her life could become that of a play.
Her soft, wavy blonde locks fluttered from the breeze of a shattered window, and she finally saw her reflection that way it really was. Distorted from the broken glass. She hadn't quite noticed that before.

Felix felt a little curious, wishing to see how much of Hogwarts she could explore without getting caught by any Teacher's of Prefects. She had overheard from another student about the Abandoned toilets, instantly gaining her interest. Sneaking around, Felix waited for a few students to walk by before Felix slipped into the Abandoned Toilets, a small smile on her face. It was quite a nice place, despite the mess that was around.
Walking in a little further, Felix continued looking around until she spotted another girl looking in the mirror, some distant look in her eyes. Swallowing, Felix stopped, holding her hands behind her back as she bit her bottom lip. Felix wasn't sure if she was interrupting something or not, but once spotting the green colors, Felix relaxed a little. Felix wasn't overly scared of Slytherin's, everyone can be 'like a Slytherin' depending on the mood for the day. Looking her over, Felix took in the smaller details, figuring it was safe enough to engage in a conversation.
Walking a little closer, Felix coughed into her hand, her head tilted to the side a little with a cautious smile on her face. "Sorry for interrupting. I thought this place would be empty and I figured I would come exploring." Felix began to comment, cutting herself off when she realized she was rambling. "I, um, can go if you would like?" Felix commented, unsure what else to say. While she usually was good with conversation, she was completely unsure on what else to say. She just hoped she wouldn't be hexed or get into trouble, not like she was stereotyping.

Alexx looked over, seeing the Hufflepuff girl. She stared for a moment, unsure of what really seemed to be going on. Snapping back into reality, she sighed. It wasn't an unwelcoming or rude sigh, it was more like she was letting out an overwhelming amount of breath. "No, you're fine." She responded, turning back to face the mirror. "I could use the company."
The blonde girl had never been particularly good at being cheerful or anything. Most just assumed her to be moody, but truthfully, her face hardly showed the slightest bit of emotion. She was this blank canvas. Her voice often came off as cold and harsh, as she had plenty of attitude to spare, but by nature, she wasn't actually so cold.
Many people actually thought the girl to be bipolar, seeing as though she could change moods like nobody's business. It was this that made people dislike her. Maybe she was bipolar, she hadn't really looked into it. Although, she suspected that there had to be good people out there, ones who could handle her and like her for who she was.
That is more or less what she was hoping to get out of the Hufflepuff who had wandered in on her. Perhaps she was so desperate for a friend that she was clinging on to any social interaction she found herself being a part of. It was pathetic in her mind, really. Stereotypically, Slytherin's usually were good alone. Then again, they were also good in packs. To be fair, they usually travelled in packs of snakes, but perhaps if this lone honey badger wished, they could strike up a conversation and quickly become acquaintances. Then again, if not, Alexx could go sulk in another bathroom.

Hearing the girl let out a sigh, Felix was unsure if she immediately should leave. No, she was going to stick this out and try her best to either cheer the other girl up or at least make a start to a relationship with the Slytherin. After all, she was told by the Prefect that led them to the dorms, that Hufflepuff's do tend to be friends with all the houses, so this was maybe a start? So, when Felix heard she could stay, the Silver-haired girl smiled a little more, taking a few steps forward - being sure to not trip or anything.
Seeing the other look back into the mirror, Felix took this time to overlook her details. The most notable thing was that Alexx did not show any emotion, which was a little strange in her mind but everyone had a reason to what they do or say, so Felix could not judge. After all, Alexx could turn around and ask why her hair was the way it was, or why she had two different eye colors, so Felix saw best to not taunt or over-question the girl.
It fell quiet again, causing Felix to be a little unnerved but she felt as if the other girl was comfortable or unsure on what to do. Personally, Felix was the latter. Twiddling with her fingers, Felix thought over a few options on what to say or do, in the end, she just decided to introduce herself and see where that was going to take her. "Names Felix Winters. I'm glad you were alright with some company." Felix began, cutting herself off as she was unsure on what else to say. There wasn't much else she could say, as she did not know the other girl's name or had any direct prompts on what to talk about.

"Alexx Helm. It's nice to meet you." Alexx greeted, her face softening. She had this strange habit of encountering Hufflepuffs. Any time she seemed to need someone to talk to, a Hufflepuff magically appeared. They were like the genies of the school.
Felix did look a little odd, but then again, Alexx had seen stranger. From the busy streets of Tennessee and California to the loud crowds of France, oddities weren't even odd to her anymore. Especially not now that she was submerged in the wizarding world. Even Ireland had its fair share of strange sights. She had learned from a young age to adapt to it.
The Hufflepuff girl, who was slightly shorter than Alexx, appeared to be a little awkward, or at least at the moment. She twiddled her fingers and was mostly quiet. But aside from all that, she was friendly. She seemed like she didn't mind too much about the fact that she was in the room with a Slytherin. Maybe Alexx wasn't a threatening sight, or maybe Felix was just really good at hiding her fright, but either way, Alexx was glad that someone hadn't immediately stereotyped her.
Slytherin wasn't all that bad. There were a few people who took being cunning too far, but didn't that apply to all the houses? Weren't there Gryffindors who expected to be the centre of attention all the time, who were dumb with bravery? Weren't there Ravenclaws who were stuck up and cocky at the fact that they were filled with knowledge? Hufflepuffs didn't appear to be problematic, though. They just seemed happy to be included. Alexx could never see herself being a Hufflepuff, but she was glad that they existed.

Hearing the other girls' name, Felix smiled a little more, standing a little straighter as she gave a nod. Internally, she was trying to think of where she had heard of the last name before, but nothing was coming up. While it was not surprising, Felix was not going to pry into someone's family at the first time they met them.
It was nice to see that Alexx hadn't made an outright comment on her looks at first sight. While Felix was use to it, something felt a little nicer about a stranger having a little bit of respect for privacy. While Alexx may not be interested in things like that, it was something a little bigger for Felix. Glancing at the floor, Felix stretched a little before standing straight again, looking back to Alexx with a small hum.
"Is there a particular reason you're in here alone? If, that's alright if I can ask. No use trying to unlock a door with no key." Felix commented, giving a wide smile as she pushed some hair off of her face. While it seemed like Felix was backtracking all over her words, the truth was that Felix did not want to come off as rude. Sometimes she could be seen as rude as she talked, but Felix had that small tendency to ramble on with no true meaning.
"You know, I never understood the importance on houses." Felix randomly commented, looking to Alexx. "All these people hating on other houses and trying to say their own house is the best. In the end, it's just a bunch of colors and teenagers arguing over the importance of those colors." She continued, wavering her hand a little as she shrugged slightly. It wasn't as clear in the comment, but her own thoughts directly reflected the 'importance' of her family's view on house choices - especially since she was sorted into Hufflepuff and not Ravenclaw.

"I haven't any friends." It was true. Alexx had no friends to stand in the bathroom with, to talk to, none of that. It was upsetting, but it was true. She wanted friends, but she just didn't have any luck making them. She then thought the comment Felix had made about the houses, how true that was, and how it applied to her predicament as far as having no friends went.
"I understand that it separates us by personality, but because of that fact, no house could truly be the best house. It's all too diverse." Slytherin sometimes felt like it was the only house that wasn't diverse. Made up of mostly purebloods, everyone being the same type of ambitious, wanting to be the best in their own way, it just felt like they were clones of one another.
Alexx had made friends with her roommates, although they also didn't feel like friends at the same time. They were nice, but they weren't regulars in her life. She wished they could interact more, but there was nothing they could do about that. It was what it was. It was hard to make friends in a house like Slytherin. She was proud of who she was, but she felt as though maybe others weren't.

Felix nodded a little, frowning slightly at the information she was given. She expected every house to be a little bit friendly to each other, but then again, Felix really only had a few friends and the rest of her house didn't talk to her, so she could see how Alexx was feeling at the current time.
Nodding, Felix took a few steps closer, looking into one of the mirrors briefly before looking away, trying to hide the fact of what she really looked like sometimes. Felix felt in Hufflepuff, it was for the students that could not really fit into another house, but there was something in all the students in Hufflepuff that made it count. Everyone was unique in there own way, and Felix was sure of it.
"Well everyone should at least have one friend." Felix replied, giving a smile as she crossed her arms over lightly. "This whole thing about houses is ridiculous. My whole family is born from Ravenclaw, so I don't see the whole fuss about it all." Felix continued, looking over at Alexx. Personally, Felix's words struck home, knowing how it feels to be caught in the crossfire. Even if it was a little daunting and sad, Felix wanted to make someone else feel a little better, well at least try to, in the sense she is there if someone needed to rant or talk.
