Compartment #7  Open   Closed
Miles was found half off the bed drooling over the newly washed bedsheets with a pillow over his face. He heard a lot of frantic shuffling downstairs and there was a suspicion that he forgot something. The sun rose slowly and Miles could tell it had been past sunrise for a few hours. His mother stormed into the room suddenly and took the pillow Miles had been drooling on and slapped him upside the head a few times. Maria Candar said pretty loudly,"Wake up sleepy head, we are already running behind without you sleeping through your big day."

Miles got dressed and along the way he found that he was dressed pretty quickly when his mother also shoved some toast into his mouth for breakfast. He could see his father and mother getting his trunk and supplies loaded into the car and only then did Miles put himself into high gear. There was a big sendoff party a couple of days ago and he knew he had to get any last supplies before the send off, because there wouldn't be any tomorrow here.

Over the next hour on the car ride to the train station, Miles was nagged by his mother about making sure he had everything and also was given some spare money just in case. It meant a lot that both his parents took some time off from the office to see him on his way to school. He knew that it must be hard on them that they wouldn't be seeing him for the next nine months. The clock read 10:40AM by the entrance of Kings Cross Station as they pulled into temporary parking. As they approached platform 9 3/4, he seen his mother was a little nervous. She was a muggle after all, but she had been so enthused by this impossible world that his father, Connor, held her hand.

"Alright son, you take your luggage and supplies through first, don't be nervous. Just simply believe that there is something on the other side. Be confident," His father committed and thoughts tangled inside Miles head,Lucky for him to say, he wouldn't be crashing into a wall and making a fool of himself. Miles took some pretty long strides for his short self and as he was about to hit, there was nothing but the sight of this magnificent red train. With his mothers hand held tight by his father, Miles parents brushed through with sounds of excited glee from his mom.

His parents helped him get his luggage put away and said there goodbyes with a big hug from his father and a kiss on the forhead from his mother. It might have been embarrassing if there weren't some water getting into his eyes. "Send an owl as soon as your settled in," was the last thing he heard from his father before the warning horn announced that the train would be leaving soon.

When Miles got back to compartment seven, which the overhead plaque pronounced boldly he found that he was still the only one in the cabin. There was signs that others would be joining soon by all the luggage that was stowed away about the compartment. The others must be saying their goodbyes. Miles took a seat by the window and gave a big wave to his parents before he heard some sounds coming from outside the compartment.

Evianna had rushed through her morning, helped (but mostly harried) by her three cousins, who had shoved random, completely useless objects in her trunk while "helping her pack", put her jacket on backwards and upside down, and nearly hit her with a trolley at King's Cross.

Now, standing outside the wall to Platform 9 3/4, she'd never been more nervous in her life. Da put a hand on her shoulder and kneeled to meet her eyes. "Okay, Squirt, this is easy. Just walk straight through there," he said, pointing to the wall, "and you'll see the train."

"But, Da, what if I really don't have magic and they sent the letter by mistake? Won't I just hit the wall?" Her eyes left her father's and fixed themselves on the brick wall, which seemed all too solid. Her father laughed, then pointed at Marshall, who had wheeled his trolley around and was now walking toward the wall. Evianna gasped and went to close her eyes, frightened for her thirteen-year-old cousin's life, but her father squeezed her hand. "Watch."

Marshall disappeared. Although both Uncle Eric and Da told her to expect that, Evianna was shocked. She walked up to the wall and pressed her hands against it.

Perfectly solid.

A shout came from behind her. William, the youngest and always the most impatient, had begun to push his trolley toward the barrier She dodged to the side, nearly hitting a passing Muggle, who shouted at her to watch where she was going.

Da sighed, then gestured toward Evianna. She nodded and took the handle of the trolley. Her father placed his hands on hers and began to walk very quickly toward the wall. Evianna watched in horror as the barrier grew closer and closer.

Then melted away entirely.

She stood on a platform, surrounded by hundreds of other young witches and wizards. Lucas and Marshall took her trunk, saying that they'd find her a compartment. Da hugged her and whispered "Good luck!" before Will took her arm and dragged her toward the train. The twelve-year-old talked excitedly about meeting his friends before telling her that Marshall and Lucas had put her trunk in Compartment #7, which was empty.

Boarding the train, Evianna walked down the corridor until she found Compartment #7. A boy with messy brown hair sat with his back to the door, presumably waving to his parents through the window. Evianna pushed open the door and stepped inside the compartment, dropping her messenger bag on the seat opposite the strange boy. "Is this seat taken?"

Standing in front of the window looking out at his parents who seemed to have been going through a lot of emotions at the moment. There wasn't much he could think about other than that this was going to be the longest Miles had been away from home. He supposed it was all apart of growing up and making your own way, but it seemed entirely too soon for him.

In back of him he heard noise as the door around the same time that the train whistle sounded. A girl that wandered in could already tell she had a totally different look then himself. Where as he had brown hair and grey eyes she sported some wavy red hair that would make it hard for him not to notice her in a crowd. To pick up what lack of wits he left behind for the moment Miles stated, OF course, make yourself at home as it were, at least for the moment. I don't imagine that they would allow us to call this train home. I admit that is a relief to find someone my age that will be a wizard... uhh witch in your case right? It seems worlds that come out without any subconscious thought which the last couple of years he has found is a growing pattern.

He imagines that the train will be getting underway shortly and trying to push through the awkwardness says quite firmly, I am Miles Candar pleased to meet you. He moves closer to offer her his hand in introduction.

Miles certainly spoke quickly, Evianna thought. "I wouldn't worry too much about finding people your age. My da said that there would be lots of first years going to Hogwarts. My name's Evianna Wilson, by the way," she responded, shaking his outstretched hand. "It's very nice to meet you, Miles."

She turned back toward the window. Da and Uncle Eric stood on the platform. Uncle Eric pointed at her, and they both began to wave as the train slowly began to move. Evianna smiled and waved back.

Once they were out of sight of the platform, she turned back to Miles. "It's sort of strange, leaving like this, isn't it?" she asked, nervously picking at her jacket sleeve. She was going to miss her home, of course, but new adventures like this didn't happen every day. Of course, not everyone was a wizard. Some people were sort of like Mum. Evianna thought that was strange. Why couldn't everyone have magic?

The train was completely out of the station by now, speeding northward. Not liking the idea of spending the next seven hours with a strange boy in complete silence, Evianna decided that it would be best to try to talk to him. "So, where are you from?" she asked.

The moment the train left the station it finally hit that he would be away from his parents for the first time and the thought terrified and excited him. Miles shook Evianna's hand and took a seat opposite her and tried to slow down his words. A big problem that has become evident now that he was nearing being a teenager was he probably talked to much for his own good. Not my quotes thank you very much... my mothers sadly.

When the two of them were standing side by side as the train was leaving the station, he seen Evianna's relatives so happy for her. It was a good lasting impression along with when he said goodbye to his parents. He was overcome with a lot of nervous energy at that moment. Will he get sorted? What house will he be put into? How does he go about meeting all these people. There is so much to do and here Miles is stuck on a train for seven to eight hours.

Yes, it seems that this is really happening though I swear there had to be a mistake with the post office. I mean sure I have accidentally done some magic, but nothing that would be worth bragging about. Miles sighs but then focuses on the girl across from him for the first time really. He vaguely seen her appearance, but really didn't give it much though until they were the only two left to talk about.

She asked where Miles was from and well it is best to be polite and truthful. I originally come from Durham in England, but in the last couple of years our family moved closer to London for my father's work. I am sure if the noise level of this train is an indication, he will have a lot of work in the near future. Seeing a askance look come across her face, My father works in the Ministry for the Department of Underage Wizardry. What about you where do you come from?
