Meeting Him
Taisia was back in the library. Studying. Again. She was definitely focused on getting O’s. Her table had her books, parchment, notes and ink strewn about the place. It was a real mess. Stress studying was her favourite thing though. So if you looked close enough you could see a half smile on her face. Not that many people looked that closely, they mostly ignored her in her strife.
Taisia was looking for a book in the mess but couldn’t find it, realising it must have been left in her dorm. So she abandoned her post to look for it in the library, a search that definitely would have been shorter if she had just run back up to her dormitory. Finally, after lapping around the entire section multiple times, she gave up and headed back to the desk. On her way back she spotted the book.
In someone’s hands.
Like always these days, she recognised him from her classes. A Gryffindor by the name of Luke? Lucas. That was it. Would she talk to him about the book? It wasn’t his own, she could see the Hogwarts seal on the cover.
“Hi! Uh- I’m Taisia. Sorry to be so abrupt but um, how long are you planning in using that book?”
Taisia was looking for a book in the mess but couldn’t find it, realising it must have been left in her dorm. Meeting Him
Lucas had sort of stumbled upon the libary by accident during one of his exploration attempts around the castle, but had decided to make the most of this, and look through the many books that the libary held, he surely could find something on interest here somewhere. Studying typically didn't rank too highly on his interests, but with this many books around him, it'd hard to be not find something.
After having paced up and down the aisles, occasinally taking a book and looking at its blurb before placing it back down onto the shelves. It was taking a while to find anything that he would be happy to sit down and read, and he was really starting to question his own work ethic and interest in learning, before he finally grabbed a book that caught his interest. He flipped open the book, not yet taking a seat, as he wanted to be sure. He slowly read through the first pages, turning to find a seat when suddenly a voice made him jump, almost dropping the book.
"About scared me to death.." He muttered more to himself, turning back to face the voice. "Hi, uh.. Lucas. Not sure, I just picked it up, but I guess you could have it if you need it." He hesitated slightly after his introduction, but eventually held the book out with a grin. "I can probably just come and have a look again later, it's no problem."

The boy who was holding her- well, it wasn’t her book- murmured something under his breath. Taisia didn’t quite catch his words, but the puzzle was soon forgotten when he introduced himself as Lucas. He held out the book, offering it to her.
It hadn’t struck her how nice he was in class.
It occurred to her that if she was in the library reading a book she wouldn’t want to be disturbed. She really needed to finish this homework, she had meant to do it yesterday, the day they had received it. She bit her lip and, although it pained her, she said, “I guess it’s okay. My table- I promise there is a table underneath- When you finish you could walk past and give it to me?”
She paused, maybe she could ask him to come over, get to know him a bit better?
“Or, um,” How could she do this? It was awkward asking a boy, she had never had any male friends. “I’m pretty much finished with my essay if you wanted to come over?
It was a jump for her. Normally she was the shy one who was invited over. But, making friends was something she’d need to work on and what better way to start with someone nice who liked the same books as se did?

"Are you sure?" He seemed visibly quite suprised by her allowing him to keep the book, afterall it would almost certinaly be wasted on him reading it if she was doing any kind of actual studying. "Yeah, I can do that." He nodded with a small smile, glancing back down at his book, intending to try and read through it quickly.
He assumed she would just leave him, and return to her table, but after he turned his attention back to the book, he heard yet another voice, which almost caused him to jolt again. He'd kept to himself quite a lot since getting to Hogwarts, and his other interaction with a girl hadn't quite gone as friendly as this one, so he was sort of caught off guard by her seemingly being quite friendly to him.

At her previous words, Lucas seemed to jump. Either she was scary, or he was skittish! Taisia’s heart skipped a beat when he accepted her invitation. She led him back to the table and rearranged the mess, clearing a space for him.
After a few moments of silence, he asked her about the essay she’d been writing. Finally, something she could talk about.
“It’s for Defence Against the Dark Arts. It’s about ghosts, and I was thinking I could talk about animal ghosts,” she gestured towards the book he was still holding, “Hence the book. I meant to bring it down with me, but I guess I forgot it.
Shut up, she told herself. Stop talking so much, not everyone finds the subject of studying as thrilling and extensive as you!
After her little mind scolding, Taisia felt compelled to let Lucas talk. They lapsed into silence again, before Taisia thought of what to ask him. It was quite obvious, the book showed his interests.
“So, are you interested in ghosts or were you working on something else?
She glanced at him, waiting for an answer, actually wondering what it might entail. OF course there was nothing wrong with enjoying ghost stories but the book was exactly a ‘Do not read before bed’ kind of book.

Lucas followed her back to the table, visibly somewhat suprised by the amount of work spread across it. He couldn't figure out if that was an excessive work load, or if he had simply been coasting up until this point. More than likely somewhere in the middle, but as a space cleared up for him to sit down, he lowered himself onto the seat, placing the book down somewhat gently onto the table.
"Defence Against the Dark Arts is cool." He nodded along with her as she explained the essay. Animal Ghosts seemed like a rogue topic for an essay, but then again, it'd interested him enough for him to pick the book up.
"Uh.. Good question, actually." He paused, taking a few moments to mull it over in his head. "I guess I just hadn't really considered that animal ghosts could really happen. That might sound dumb, but when I saw this it just seemed quite interesting to read about, or at least more interesting than the other books I'd looked at."
He flipped the book back open to the page he was on , beginning to read it half distractedly. "How are you liking hogwarts?" He asked somewhat out of the blue. "My parents alwways told me how great it was, but they never siad how confusing the hallways and stair cases could be."

Lucas listened as she explained her essay and seemed to think her choice of class for such an excessive workload was somewhat interesting.
It seemed to her that him picking up the book was quite spontaneous, and her opinion was confirmed when he told her the topic seemed more interesting.
She noticed him flipping open the book to the chapter on rogues. Taisia thought about the fact that she had never actually seen an animal ghost, much less a rogue one, and wondered if it tried to attack her, would it actually be able to?
“I’m loving hogwarts! My parents have told me so much about it, I pretty much knew the place like the back of my hand the second we entered! Both my parents came here, mum was in Ravenclaw and dad was in Hufflepuff.” She paused for a moment to mutter under her breath, “Although I’m not sure how he got in that house…” She made sure she didn’t speak too loudly Lucas couldn’t hear.
“As for the stairs, well, I learned on the first day how annoying they are. I went to class extremely early and I ended up arriving at the same time as everyone else! Now, I just leave about 5 minutes before I usually would to avoid the fiasco.”
“What about your family? Did you follow your parents into Gryffindor?

"I thought it'd be the same before I got here." He nodded, having experienced similar from his parents, and extended family. "But, I guess I just underestimated the scale of it all. Even ending up here today wasn't my intention, I sort of just stumbled in here by accident and figured I'd take a look around."
"I haven't really had the issue with class or anything, just when they move and I end up stepping off on a completely different floor and area to where I wanted." He explained, having been a victim to this on a couple of different occasions already. Somewhat luckily, however, he hadn't had it when he needed to go to class, he'd always managed to arrive to class in decent time without any issues.
"No, as far as I know I was the first Gryffindor in our family, at least fora good few generations. It was sort of a welcome suprise though." Truthfully, he would of been happy with any house but Hufflepuff, but he restrained from saying that as her dad had been a Hufflepuff, and he wasn't sure whether she'd take offence to that or not. "My mum and her family have basicically always been Slytherins, so my placement came as a bit of a shock to her especially.. As for my dad, he was Ravenclaw, and I think most of his family were Ravenclaw as well but I'm not as close with his families, as I am with my mums family."
"How are the people in Ravenclaw? I've met a few to, uh.. Mixed results, but my parents always spoke highly of Ravenclaw."
