Renée had been desperate to get her wand, having watched her parents do even the most mundane things with magic around the house. Drawing blinds, pushing shut doors, lighting the candles about the house and even the hearth. Wands had been around the girl all her life and she'd still not yet gotten her own!

That is... Until the day of her eleventh birthday. Her letter for hogwarts had arrived in the morning, as her mother was cooking Ren's birthday breakfast. Elanor had almost burnt the eggs she was frying as she went to fetch the post, if not for Bobbin (the Danvers House Elf) the breakfast would have been ruined, as Elanor rushed upstairs to wake Renée, eager to see the letter but not wanting to take away the child's joy at opening it for herself.
Bobbin had followed shortly after with the rescued breakfast, followed by Theodore Danvers, Ren's father, who brought with him a trunk, levitating along behind him as he entered the room. Within were the beginnings of Renée's school supplies; ink, quills, parchment and even the robes and hat she needed, according to the shopping list which accompanied her letter.

After a hearty breakfast, the Danvers family headed to Diagon Alley, where Ren would be able to buy the last few supplies on her list. A winter cloak, gloves, loads of books, potions paraphernalia and finally her wand!
The sun was starting to dip when Theo and Elanor led Ren to Ollivanders, pausing outside the door and ushering her in. Her mother said it would be best for them to wait outside, and her father had business to see to while she received her wand anyway...

The bell over the door tinkled as Ren entered alone. Outside it had been busy with other families also doing their shopping, but inside was deadly quite as the door closed with a soft thud. It had been bright out there too, but the dim lighting and eerie stillness made it feel like another world.

There was a shuffle from the darkness, before an elderly man came into view from the tightly packed shelves of wands. He had wild white hair and pale eyes which had a touch of madness to them, though his face was definitely a kindly one. He smiled at Ren as he emerged.
"Ah... Miss Danvers... Yes, yes, I've been waiting for you young miss" He said as he ran a finger over the stacks of boxes he was passing... He paused over one, withdrew it from the pile and brought it to the desk.
"Try this..." Inside the box was a short ashy wand which was curved and had no discernable handle... Ren took the offered wand from its box, held it up and gave it a small flick. Around her, the shop shook and dust puffed into the air from the stacks. She hastily returned the wand as her cheeks grew warm.
"No matter... Not many people get the right one first try" Ollivander admitted, pushing the box aside before heading to retrieve another. He came back, this time with a long thin black wand that looked a lot like her fathers, but when Ren gave this a flick a spark shot from the end and a plant pot near the window shattered.
"Not that either! Good heavens... Oh, I think I have a good one!" This time he brought out another pale wand, though this one was all wavy, with a carved handle... Ren took this more tentatively, but it fit snugly in her hand and when she gave it a wave nothing bad happened... In fact, she felt as though she'd been reunited with a missing limb! So completely did it belong to her, she wondered how she'd ever been without it!
"As I suspected... This one is perfect for you miss. With the same core as your father, and the length of your mothers... but not a replica of either of theirs... I should have gone with this to begin with" The old man gave her a wink as he settled behind his counter.

After paying, Ren headed back to her parents, admiring the wand, with its twisty wavy shape, grinning from ear to ear! The perfect wand... Now to go do great things with it...
