Diagon Alley was bustling and it didn't help that Anafe was excited. She had finally received her Hogwarts letter and when summer was over, she would officially be attending! The realization had sent her fluttering about the Lafee Estate for days, riling up the twins into a manic frenzy, and truth be told by the jitter in her step, she was still aflutter. But Diagon Alley was crowded and with half of her school list yet to be acquired, it was going to be a long day.

Luckily Anafe had all the energy she needed.

Nanny Grey, however, was already looking rather weary. Grumbling under her breath about the Malkin's, Nanny Grey escorted her out in the bustling crowd with a firm grasp on Ana's wrist. The elderly woman held the package under her free arm and somehow managed to make a path through the densely packed street. When Ana realized where they were heading she perked up, smiling sheepishly, wondering if Nan had heard her belly growling while she was being fitted.

"Why don't you get something from Florean's, Anafe?" Nanny Grey said with a huff and a forced smile. She reached into her coin purse, retrieved half a handful of knuts and sickles and dropped them safely into Ana's open palms. "Now don't you go spending all of that, missy! But you go ahead and get yourself something nice and sweet and refreshing. Grab a table and take a rest, go on and take this package here for me as well. Gunna hop on over to Flourish and Blotts to get your books, I'll be right back! No shenanigans!"

Ana watched Nanny Grey disappear into the crowd before she turned and opened the door to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour. Somewhere within a little bell announced her arrival, but before she could contemplate further, a friendly-faced man welcomed her inside from his place behind the counter. Ana smiled at him broadly and got in line, waiting anxiously for one of her favorite treats of all time.

Chocolate frog ice cream.

But this time she wasn't going to ask for three scoops. No, she was going to ask for four.

John's very first significant excursion into the wizarding world was Diagon Alley, the shopping destination for new students. Evidently, John wasn't the only one shopping: the roads were crowded with eager families trying to get the required school supplies. He spotted the same supply list his parents had in the hands of many others. Evidently, Hogwarts was the place to be for potential wizards.

John was still under the impression that he would wake up at any moment. Ever since a couple of Hogwarts representatives showed up to confirm the letter from the owl: he was a wizard. Not that he was "totally wizard"; that is, that John was cool and awesome. He didn't need people from a parallel world to tell him that. No, they said he was totally a wizard, the kind the shoots out magic. This was followed up by all the important questions.

Am I still human?
Are you guys aliens?
Is Gandalf real?
Is Hogwarts in Las Vegas?

Clearly, John needed guides to navigate this new world and and answer the actual important questions. So he and his parents followed the representatives through Diagon Alley to learn about the world while gathering school supplies. While John was willing to accept that magic existed, his parents were not. Many of their inquiries began with "What the puck is wrong with you people?!" This typically happened when they discovered some dangerous activity John would be taking part in, such as flying on a broomstick or messing with mythical creatures. One such conversation was happening just after John was given his robes. He was given some amount of "wizard money" (as John referred to it) and told to go into the ice cream shop while his parents cussed out conversed with their guides.

"This place is totally wizard," John proclaimed to himself as he walked inside the ice cream parlor. It didn't seem that different from any normal shop back home. He too got in line, right after Anastasia, and looked for all the delicious flavors. As he looked for chocolate, his eyes came upon...

Chocolate Frog Ice Cream
Frog Ice Cream
Frog

Never before did John's face contort so quickly from utter joy to complete disgust. His mouth agape, eyes squinting as he imagined the tub of chocolate ice cream as a tub of congealed frog blood that browned with age. No amount of chocolate would ever cover up the taste of frog. John could believe a lot of things about the wizarding world. Believing that a person would enjoy frozen congealed frog, that was a step too far.
