Miyu Shoto | First year | Slytherin

Miyu was born in Southwest London from a long line of purebloods. Her blood had a mix of British and Chinese from recent centuries.

Miyu’s parents weren’t soulmates. They met when they were working in the same department in the Ministry of Magic. When Elliot Harrison found out that Miss Laurel Shoto was from a wealthy and well-respected pureblood family, he wasted no time in asking for her hand in marriage after a year of dating. Innocent Miss Laurel had no experience in the love department and thought it was normal for a couple to only discuss the man’s work, politics, and how he would be the Minister of Magic one day.

After 3 years of marriage, when Mr. Shoto found out that Mrs. Shoto was pregnant with a girl, all true colors shone. He drank every second and slept with every woman that sat next to him. Mrs. Shoto was oblivious to his behavior as she was the hardworking one. She’d spend late nights at the office while her husband was slacking at home and skipping work for half the year. When Mrs. Shoto found out about his behavior from the Daily Prophet at work, she didn’t waste a second before mailing him divorce papers.

And so Miyu was raised only by her mother as her parents divorced when she was only half-developed in her mother’s womb. Her mother thought her everything she knew. She brought her to work, to her colleague’s children’s house, and always encouraged her to try new things. They lived peacefully with no worries while Miyu’s father filed for bankruptcy.

Miyu made many friends, yes, but no close ones. They all fell out after 2 years, tops. And to be entirely truthful, Miyu preferred it this way. Anyway, she already has a handful of parties and social events to attend because her mother was invited. And wherever her mother went, she’d go too.

Miyu’s first encounter with magic was when she was 5 when she was learning how to play the piano. She was learning it herself using all the books she had bought related to the basics of learning piano. After a while, she started getting frustrated as she had played the same song for the 27th time and she was still messing it up. In a rage, she slammed the piano and groaned. To her surprise, a book from the floor floated toward her and landed right in front of her. It opened right to the page regarding how to train on momentum, and how to have swift fingers without stumbling on notes.

Since then, Miyu’s encounters with accidental magic became more and more common. From accidentally exploding cups to using magic to easily read her favorite books without using her hands, Miyu started having control. Ms. Shoto was beyond happy with her child and told all of her relatives every time Miyu had any encounters with her magic. You can imagine their relative’s annoyance when they receive the 5th letter of the month with the haunting family crescent stamped on the front.

Appearance
Miyu has black, straight, and medium-length hair with long curtain bangs at the front. Her eyes are dark brown and she has small thin lips. Her overall posture is held with poise and she has the average height of people her age.

Personality and interests
Miyu is charismatic, diligent, and intelligent. Her MBTI is INTJ-T. She is good at working with team members as she knows how to lead and also knows how to listen to her groupmates, but she works much better alone. Miyu also adapts to changes quickly.

She loves to read (just about anything) and learn new things. She’s fascinated by all sorts of things such as fashion, cooking, baking, muggle science, literature, and so on. However, she has come to discover that drawing and painting are not one of her talents.
