Study Room

Studying. Ick. That was Niamh's natural reaction to even the proposal to study. The Gryffindor could name few activities worse than studying. For instance... Her mind blanked as she struggled to come up with examples. Being eaten alive! That was one. Niamh would rather study than be consumed by a gigantic, blood-sucking mosquito with red eyes as big as the entirety of the castle. She would gladly study in that case.
Did such a magical creature exist? The first-year wouldn't be shocked if it did. Already, she had learned about a few creatures whose properties seemed improbable. However, the normal logic of "improbable" didn't seem to apply to magic. With enough spells, practically anything was possible! However, spells weren't the only part of magic. Niamh didn't even know any yet. There was also theory and history.
By far, Niamh's worst class was History of Magic. Focusing just... didn't happen in that class. Why would it be her fault that her brain decided to launch itself to the moon every time she stepped into that classroom? It wasn't like she was the one controlling it or anything. Besides, the class was basically all reading from Very Large and Important Books written by Important Wizards. Her daydreams were far more interesting than that.
As much as Niamh hated to admit it, the class did have some effect on her life. Her score on the last assignment was... not superb. It was the type of score that, if her parents were to know about it, they would not be pleased. The Gryffindor had, basically, taken the strategy of not studying at all. Her favorite strategy! Apparently not a very good one for getting passing marks though. Totally surprising.
Those marks were the reason she was standing there, in the door of a study room— a room which, upon gaining knowledge of, the young Gryffindor had made plans to never visit. However, the girl who sat next to her in class. Somehow, she had coerced Niamh into being study buddies and, with much pressure, she had relented.
Why had she given in? A wave of regret washed over the girl as she peered in through the door. A smattering of students were scattered across several tables. For the amount of people in the room, there was eerily little chatter to be heard. Only the swishing of inkpots and the scratching of quills pierced the deadly silence. It made Niamh want to scream at the top of her lungs, but she didn't. She strolled into the room, letting go of the door. The door closed with a thunk, blowing up a layer of dust and soot that had been hidden on the floor. The first year wrinkled her nose, sniffing. Must and student sweat. Niamh identified. It was fine. She had smelled worse things before. The soles of her uniform shoes clacked against the floor as she found a table in the middle of the room and arranged (threw) her stuff on the table.
Now the only missing piece was the other girl. What was her name again? Did she even introduce herself? Niamh couldn't remember. Whatever. If *insert name here* didn't come soon then she was leaving.
OOC note: Permission granted from @Taisia Elidine Stroudefielde to say that she had convinced Niamh to study with her.

History of Monotony
Taisia was a stickler for studying. If there was any study to do at all, you could bet Taisia was in the library or the Study Hall. Or if there wasn’t much to do she would allow herself to curl up in her bed and take tips from Bailey.
So when the pressing girl had seen Niamh Quinn’s latest marks and the unhappy expression that accompanied it, she decided to push some of her qualities onto her. With much persuasion, Taisia had managed to convince her desk buddy to become a study buddy. Especially since it was her favourite class.
Taisia had numerous study techniques, all of which she had analysed before their meeting. She knew she’d have to keep Niamh focused. After all, she had an exclusive view of how the girl’s class time was spent. She herself had a few techniques she used to study. Some were more effective in certain classes than others and she had a feeling some would be more effective on a certain person. Taisia had eventually decided to try some of the more creative and exciting ways. Well, as far as creative and exciting could go for someone who didn’t like studying. Colours and drawing would be her first attempt, although she did have a back up plan.
By the way she was looking, it seemed Niamh was alienated by the room. The silence, the focus, the productivity was clearly not something she was often plagued by. The satchel was plain white, specifically chosen for decoration purposes. After their first session, Niamh could take it and make it suit her. Inside were a few ink wells, quills ands parchment.
“Niamh! I wasn’t sure if you’d actually show!” She greeted the girl and took her hand, dragging her into the room. She glanced around at the room and picked a table. Taisia and Niamh sat down. “So, I thought we could try some different ways to study. Starting with the more…interesting ones. I thought we could try some drawing or colour coding.”
“We’ve been learning about the Goblin Rebellions.” She pulled out her textbook and flipped open to the chapter on goblins. “I thought maybe we could start with you drawing some goblins? I mean, I don’t know how good you are at drawing, but I thought it might be fun?
She watched Niamh set to work before she dropped the bomb. “After that we can start to write notes that correspond to certain body parts of the goblin. Then when you think about those parts you can try and remember the facts that go with it.” She bit her lip nervously, hoping Niamh would like her idea.
