Title: Too young to detectTerribly sorry, but this is the prologue, so it is very very short.
Genre: Historical mystery set in a 1930s English Boarding School
Look, I never this to happen. Judy was the one who dragged me into this detective business. And now she calls me Watson, which is very inappropriate, since Watson is considerably dimmer than Sherlock. For the record, my grades are definitely better than Judy’s.
My name is Lindsey Smith and Judy is my annoying twin sister. I hate to begin with griping, but Judy and I — we don’t get along well. I think this is not only a test of our detective skills, but more of a test of sisterhood than anything.
Judy and I are the total opposite. When you look at Judy, you would not think that we were related. She has tanned bronze skin, which she got from Mum. I, on the other hand, have pale white skin that makes me look disturbingly similar to a vampire. Still, if you look pass that, our personalities are clashing to say the least.
Judy is always bossing me around. I suppose that being the best tennis player in school makes her superior to everyone. I would listen to her, because I like to be reserved. And perhaps the main reason I hate being a detective, is because it is dangerous. I confess that I am lacking in bravery. The grandest adventure I would ever dare to go on is in a book.
Before I begin though, I think I ought to explain some things. Everything went extremely downhill when Father lost his job as an egyptologist in Cairo. We moved back to London and he worked as a curator in the British Museum. Not long after, Mother died of a heart attack. Judy says that that’s all you need to know. I don’t want to talk about it either.
But I guess everything really started when we were sent to St. Catherine’s School for Girls.

This is not my actual story...I'm still working on that. This is from a DnD sorta thingy that I once did...
Title: That one time I turned into a werewolf
Line Number one...I'm supposed to have it all together. When people ask me how I'm doing, just act natural. Smile. Tell them that I feel great. That's a lie, though. Line Number Two...I'm the only one inside who has my dark secret, so I keep it to myself. I'll be a good daughter with a perfect life and no dark secrets. I'm totally fine! Keep my mess with me, and only me. Lie whenever someone asks you if you have any secrets. Don't gossip. Be angelic. Look nice and presentable. Don't get you hands dirty. Hide your scars with gloves. Don't let anyone know...
These are all things that people have told me, people who know my secret and those who don't. Be nice, Alena, kind Alena, nice, good, nice, kind, NICE! There's a difference between being nice and being good, or kind. Just because something or someone is savage doesn't make the bad. I'm afraid I can't keep the secret anymore. If the townspeople find out, I'll most likely be burned at the steak, no matter how nice I am. My father seems to be ashamed. My mother isn't, but that doesn't mean she isn't frightened. My brother understands...sort of. All Henry wants is for me to prove everyone wrong and stop keeping secrets, but it doesn't often work like that.
I was 3, it was a full moon night, and I was supposed to be sleeping. However, I couldn't sleep. Back then, there was a werewolf terrorizing the kingdom, and no one could catch him. I was looking out the window when I saw something. It was a firefly! I reached out to touch it, but instead, sharp teeth closed around my wrist and bit down. I screamed and tumbled backward. Then I started crying. My mother rushed to my side and investigated the bite. She cleaned it and bandaged it, then rushed me to a healer. She pounded on the door, and then the healer examined the bite and said that the werewolf had struck again. My mother started crying. The healer said that I had lycanthropy, and there was no cure.
Not only would I transform during a full moon, but I might partially transform if I lose my temper. I got used to my new werewolf-ism. Every full moon, I was brought to the Bright Woods, where I could transform. Since there was no one I could attack, I attacked myself, ending up with scars, which I hid with long dresses, scarves, gloves, and other accessories, including things like spells and makeup. The only people who know are the healer, my parents, my brother Henry, and my friend Isabel, though I'm afraid that my aunt might be on the road to learning my secret. Visiting royalty, including a great king, is coming over from one of the southern kingdoms, and they want to speak with all of the young maidens of noble heritage, including me and Isabel. They say that he can detect lies...if this is true, then Iz and I are in trouble!

That's the most fruitful thing one could have thought of. Just like Jason- he being a Astronomer didn't make a difference that he was only 21 years old. "Quite a young man." "Proud to have him." "Brave boy." Hearing the quotes was way too much frustrating. You may say why, because he is not an Astronomer and an expert like his brother. "Failed 20 missions." "Wasn't able to control a spacecraft." "Foolish Boy." "A disgrace to his family." "Selfish-
Jason woke up, almost out of breath, that was only a nightmare. He always has a fear of getting bullied. He was, though bullied his whole life until he became a successful Astronomer. But recently, his brother has blocked him path of peacefulness.

"Hello, Jason Derulo speaking here."
"Aha, boy. Your brother is of such a great help! He is great at engineering too! And-"

Jason cut off the call, he was already tired of it. For the past 12 days there is no work for him and his brother is getting all the favour for his new talents. What in the world will he do? He has to find a way to become popular again. It can't go like this, it can't...
He got up from the bed and gave a short yawn, before wearing his t-shirt and unwillingly went to the kitchen. He opened the fridge and took out some milk. He slowly started boiling it, still rubbing his eyes.

"Hello, Jason Derulo speaking here."
"When are you going to resign, bro?"
"What!" Jason shouted out of pure shock and locked at his phone. The call was from his brother.
"Just knock it off. What do you want?"
"Oh, my brother is angry again. I am so sorry bro. But what if it's the last time you are boiling your milk?"
"What, how did you-"
"Or shall I give my brother enough time to drink it, huh?"
"Stop it! What do you mean, just tell me Mike! Don't beat around the bush." Jason was irritated, what all nonsense was his brother speaking.

"Wasn't the gunshot strong bro?"

"Oh my, does it hurt? Your milk got spoilt with your blood, bro."
Jason wasn't able to hear it. A faint smell of his own blood made him vomit. His blood was dripping all over his milk.

A blur figure came in front of him.
"Bro, you will regret it." He whispered in Jason's ears.
"Why..." He let out the last unclear word escape from his mouth, and closed his eyes, while lying on a floor covered with his own blood.
"Pity you, brother. And here starts my plan. Better be careful."
He laughed loudly, "Dying at a young age is quite interesting, right?" "Tell this experience to the children you find in heaven. Good bye forever!"
He turned around, "Don't worry, I won't steal your property, but I will leave as soon as I remove the traces."

"And then I raised my mighty sword, I picked it up, about to slay the monster."
Astoria raised a stick dramatically as she was telling a story to her younger siblings. It was what she always did in her spare time, and it was the story she told them, again, again and again.
The two children widened their eyes, as this was just their favourite part of the story.
"...but I didn't," Astoria whispered to her siblings, lowering her 'sword' slowly.
"But why?" They both asked at the same time. This was the question that they always asked, no matter how many times Astoria retold the story, the question was always but, why?
"Because, lass, there's a bit of good in any monster. Talk about Pandora's box," Astoria replied simply.
"I don't think so; if it was me, I would've just killed it," the boy sniffed.
"Suit yourself, just think it's a bit more, human to let it live," Astoria shrugged, dropping the stick on the grassy ground. It was quite a fine day and Astoria remembered that she needed to run down to the market place, just to fetch berry jam for the littles. Perhaps she could buy some apples along the way; Astoria loved apples. Probably more than anything in the world, well, maybe not more than her family. And her horse. Nonetheless, apples were her favourite food.
"Gotta leave, I'm going to release hope from pandora's jar!" Astoria exclaimed, picking up her 'sword' once more. "Wish me luck!" With a nod and a playful smile, she threw on her cloak, and ran to the market place.
Astoria hummed a happy tune striding into the market place, where all sorts of people were shouting to her. The market place was always busy, no matter what day of the week. If you buy one things, you'd be forced to buy another, as you didnt want to offened your fellow towns folf There were so many stalls, too.
"Tori! Six gold coins for six apples! I know the green ones are your favourites..." A salesman yelled to the young girl, brandishing a basket of green apples in Astoria's direction. In her mind, she was tempted to buy some, but she didn't have much money.
"Sorry, not today! I'll come back next Monday if you save some for me." Astoria winked at the salesman and he nodded grimly as Astoria continued on her 'quest' for the 'jar of hope'. There were plenty of good things on the market today, also plenty of bad, like goat meat. Astoria gagged as she walked by the stall, who actually ate that stuff?
Finally reaching her destination, a smaller and less neat stall which had dozens of jars full of flavoured jam.
"Morning, Auntie Lisa, my usual?" Astoria asked politely, putting down three golden coins.
"That'll be four, lass," the woman said sternly, polishing a jar and looking over the coins that Astoria had put down.Astoria pouted and gave her aunt a pleading look.
"Come on, family discount?" She begged. Lisa looked impatiently at the young girl, who was flustered from the lack of money she had brought today.
"Not today. You still owe me one for covering for you, so that's actually five. Hand it over." Lisa opened her palm and looked expectidly at the girl.
Astoria sighed as she searched her cloak pockets for extra coins. In a few minutes she managed to fish out a single coin.
"This enough for you?" Astoria asked the older woman.
"Perfect." Astoria let out another frustrated sigh as she threw the coin to Lisa, but before the woman could catch the golden coin, another hand caught it and started running.
"My money!" Both Astoria and Lisa shouted at the same time. Astoria gave Lisa a dark look before running after the thief.
"Get back here!" Astoria shouted after the criminal. Astoria bumped into people, she tripped atleast twice. But she didn't care, she needed to get that coin. At some point, Astoria lost track of the thief.
"God, I lost him," she muttered in defeat.
"Looking for this?" Astoria heard the sound of a coin clinking and she rounded immediately.
"Listen here, that is mine-" Astoria started talking with anger, but the thief shushed her. How dare he!
"This?" He asked, he pulled a scroll from his own cloak and brandished at the girl. Astoria shook her head and pointed silently at the coin. The man laughed and tossed the scroll at the young girl. Automatically, she caught it. But the two seconds she spent looking at the scroll, the man disappeared. But at this point, Astoria wasn't concentrating. She just looked at the scroll. She opened it with a concentrated look and read the few words on the piece of parchment.
Find him. Kill him. For me.
Kill who? Find who? But Astoria only realized when she saw the signature.
"Aquilla," she breathed. She looked again at the parchment. Find him. Kill him.
But this was a year ago. Astoria still didn't do it. But she needed too. She needed to avenge Aquilla. She needed to avenge her sisters murder.Word count: 858/500
