Pet Furry Friend

It was quite late in the school year to be coming back to the alley full of magical stores and food, but today, this young boy was on a mission. After a lot of work, he had finally scraped together enough gallons for a pet. This time, there was no help from his parents in navigating the large place, but it did not matter. Looking around, they found the store after some luck, and walked in. He was worried that he wouldn't be able to get a pet due to his age, but it was pushed aside as the door closed behind him.

Jay carefully stepped around the pet store, not wanting to scare any animals with loud and heavy footsteps. "Are you looking for something specific, love?" An older lady's voice calls out, and he turns his head. "No, just looking! I'm hoping for a furry pet, though." The lady, who looked like she could be his grandma, walked in front of him. The first year smiled warmly to her, looking kindly at her. "No problem, champ. I'll lead you to the cats we have, see how you like them." He nodded and followed her into the store and to the mewling cats.

All of them looked like really good pets as he crouched down to look at them. Some were a bit too energetic for his liking, but he still gave them a little scratch and continued. The cats got younger as he went, and eventually, he got to the kittens. There, honestly, weren't much. Kittens were in high demand when it came to pets, and so it was likely that kittens were low. A small and lanky kitten caught his eye as it rough-housed with another cat about its size, but stops when it notices the human looking at it. It mews and walks towards him.

"Hey little dude.. Awh, you're such a cutie." Noticing their Siamese sister paying attention to Jay, the other kittens start bounding towards him, but the original one runs them off. "You are a MENACE. Hah!" He picks her up, booping her on the nose. She was very talkative, letting him know that she did not like being held. Jay laughed, and put her on his shoulder. She liked that, and curled up right there. "I think I found what I'm looking for, Mrs. I'm going to name her Menace!" He turned his voice to the newly named cat, petting her. "You like that, don't you? You little tyrant.." It was in a joking tone, as he looked at the small creature on his shoulder. He made the right choice. This pet will be a handful, but it seemed worth it.
