A New Squeaky Companion
Brinley had decided to make her way to the pet shop to select a companion. She would definitely appreciate the buddy while she was grading homework. She knew that she wanted something small that wouldn't get in the way, but also something that would still fill her need of company. She already figured she would end up with something like a rat or a toad because it was exactly what she needed.
Brinley made her way around the shop, but very obviously skipped over any pets she knew she wouldn't want. She passed by the cats shaking her head very obnoxiously. She knew she hated cats she had never been a cat lover. Something about the way they stare at you had always creeped Brinley out.
So, despite her hate for cats she wandered over to the smaller animals specifically the rats. She had always loved rats and sort of wanted one of her own. She wanted something to stand out and be different everyone always loves the cute and cuddly animals but they forget about the toads, rats, spiders, snakes and other "scary" creatures. Brinley always hated this, she knew that all animals needed love and affection even if they weren't "lap pets".
She looked at all the rats, all looked like they would make lovely pets, but she found herself drawn to the brown rat the most. She loved it's light brown fur and the spot on its back made it very unique. She crouched down and looked at it more closely. It jumped towards her and it's beady black eyes seemed to be begging her to adopt it. So, she smiled and looked closely. Upon inspection realizing it was a male, she thought of a name. The mouse looked like a little prince marching around proudly so she wanted him and knew she would give him a good home.
After deciding that Prince would be the pet she wanted she walked up to the lovely old couple that owned the shop. Or rather the old lady, because she was the one who was at the register at the time.
"I'd like one of the brown rats please! Specifically the one in the front. He seemed to be begging me to adopt him and I couldn't resist." She stated as she smiled wide from ear to ear. She knew that Prince would be a good buddy and she couldn't wait to take him with her.
