The Hogwarts Express  Finished
(You could still post if someone other than me has already posted!)
Having finally have shaken off her parents, Cynthia decided to look for some nice and quiet on the train. She wondered what her new life would be like. Shrugging off her doubts, she stepped onto the train. Mother with still there. Cynthia waved her goodbye and said ‘au revoir’, which meant farewell in French.
Now the only thing left to do was to seek out a compartment. Her heart pounded. Her social skills were really bad. Remember what Mother said, Cynthia told herself. Right. She held her head up high and did not look back.
She wondered if anyone was in the compartment. She rehearsed what she was going to say if someone was actually in there in her mind. Hello friend, may I sit down here? Yes, that sounded good enough. She really wished Avery was here, but she wasn’t. Cynthia would have to get her later on when she had more pocket money.
She really had to find a place to sit quick, since the train almost lurch. Well, she though. This is the only place I could go now. She took a deep breath, and knocked on the door. Someone called for her to come in. She did. And she said what she had rehearsed a moment before.

A girl with dark red hair, which was up in a bun, was sitting near the window. She had been there rather early since her parents didn’t want her to happen to miss the train or anything else. Up until she heard the knock, she’d been staring out at the people walking by to just take all of this new adventure in. The girl offered Cynthia a smile and by her facial expression she was both happy and nervous to meet someone new. “Hi. I’m Skye. She said rather quickly and she almost felt like she blurted it out, which made the young redhead blush in slight embarrassment. That quickly faded though and she pointed to the other side opposite of her. “Looks like we’ll have the whole cart to ourselves.” Skye then turned to look back out the window as she already had been doing before the new arrival. She was started waving at two people, her parents, who waved back as the train began to move off from the platform. When they started to move off she let out a long exhale before looking back at the other girl realizing that the exhale could’ve been understood as one directed toward her. “Oh I’m sorry! Just butterflies in my stomach. What’s your name?”

Cynthia stuck out a hand, ‘Cynthia Beaufort, nice to meet you.’ She thought ‘Skye’ was a rather rare name. She hadn’t heard it before. Cynthia smiled and sat down opposite to the girl. Skye looked rather mystified and quite nervous, which made Cynthia deduce that she was probably a muggle-born.
Suddenly the train lurched and they started moving. Many children were waving a final goodbye to their parents. Cynthia’s had already left, along with Avery. She had to earn enough pocket money to get her here. Right now she had exactly 4 galleons, 12 sickles and 14 knuts. Bringing an owl to Hogwarts costed 15 galleons if she remembered correctly. However, with the 10 sickles a day of pocket money, it might not be too slow to save up. She guessed that Skye didn’t have anyone to wave to since a professor accompanied her to the station.
Cynthia sighed, cleared her throat and asked Skye (because it would be quite awkward if Cynthia just sat there reading a book all day), ‘Are you excited?’ A fairly normal question ,she supposed. She straightened her tie and checked her composure. She sat there, waiting for the girl to answer.

You can tell Cynthia a bit more about yourself! That would be nice.

Skye made sure to shake her hand, even though her family were typically more of huggers. She also was still in her street clothes. A thin red jacket, jeans, and sneakers. Her face had always been kind, but when Cynthia asked if Skye had been excited, her eyes lit up as if she had made thought of something life changing. It ,of course, was all new to her since everyone else in her family were ‘normal’ folk. “Yeah… a little. There were no witches or wizards in my family, so this is all new to me.” She fiddled with her hair, rolling one of the loose strands up in her finger. “My parents were excited though, they’re nervous too, but excited for me. All of my brothers would so jealous if they knew! They just think I’m going to some gifted boarding school in Wales or something. We’re going to Scotland though right? Too a giant old castle? It’s going to be way different than where I live in London. I’ll miss my parents, friends, and my team, but still this is just all crazy right?” The girl then stopped her rambling and took a breath while she stared out the window for a second. She eventually turned back to Cynthia and nodded to her. “So yeah. What about you Cynthia? Excited, nervous?”

The girl had said a lot. Perhaps it was an understatement, too. She was in very-muggle-like-clothing. A thin red jacket, a pair of jeans that had holes in them, and trainers instead of boots or leather shoes or heels. Skye’s eyes had lit up when Cynthia asked her whether shew as excited or not, a very good reaction from her. Cynthia paused as if she was thinking, mimicking Skye’s hair-twirling, she said, ‘Your parents know about you coming to Hogwarts? That is … interesting. Most children don’t get the privilege, if you can call it that.’ Cynthia then supposed she should answer Skye’s questions. She cleared her throat elegantly, which was something she had mastered a long time ago. ‘Yes, Scotland is the destination. And to a grand old castle, too. My family is different from you. I am a pureblood child. I am not quite excited, though, I must admit. I have known the Wizarding World since my birth and truth be told, it is not quite as exciting once you have been in it for a long time. And nervous? No. There is nothing to be nervous about.’ Cynthia paused, thinking. ‘I do wonder, though. What house would you like to be in?’

“Of course they know,” she said with a laugh, “I’m not sure they would’ve just let me come unless they were able to see it. They were the ones brought me here and helped me buys all my things. My dad seemed more excited than me if I’m honest. He just stared at stuff and wanted to know about everything. Especially in the book store… what’s it name? Anyway, the fact that some pictures move! So fun.” She had seemed to calm, at least her nerves were now. Skye had sat up straight was now literally leaning into the conversation. Being a witch was a whole new world for her and she hadn’t been able to talk about any of her experiences this far. “Houses? I’m not sure which one I want to go in. I read some about them, but I don’t really know much to have an opinion I guess. I guess it doesn’t really matter though. So what about you? Do you know what house you want to be in?” The redheaded girl reached into her pouch and pulled out a small sandwich that was bagged up. “Did your parents go here too? Maybe you’ll go into their house.”

(Btw, sorry, I forgot to mark it as a roleplay)
Well, there wasn’t exactly a book about Hogwarts for new students, so it was expected that she didn’t know that much about houses. ‘Well, it is very simple. Gryffindor is for the brave and daring; Hufflepuff the loyal and steadfast; Ravenclaw the witty and intelligent; Slytherin the cunning and ambitious. Back in the past, Slytherin didn’t like muggle-borns and they used to call them ‘mud-bloods’, which is horrible, but they don’t do that now. Well, because you’re so nervous, I don’t think you can get into Gryffindor. I think Hufflepuff would be nice for you…. As for me, my mother did not come to Hogwarts; my father was a Ravenclaw. I am going to be a Ravenclaw as well. It would be the Sorting Hat’s problem if I don’t get in. For me, getting into the right house is really important, because, frankly, it would just be irrational if I’m not a Ravenclaw. When I was younger I wanted to be Slytherin, though.’
Cynthia sighed and looked out of the window on the door. ‘You know, you don’t have bring that sandwich… Look, there’s the trolley witch now!’ When Skye looked at her blankly, Cynthia said, ‘You must know who the trolley witch is. She’s the one with all the sweets. Let’s get three chocolate frogs for you.’
(To buy chocolate frogs, you have to go to Hogsmeade, but you can trade with others for now. I’m going to give you three.)

Skye arched her brows as the girl started the explanation. She didn’t exactly expect a breakdown of the Four Houses right away, but she put a smile on her face as Cynthia spoke about her assumption on which House either girl would be sorted into. Skye chuckled, but only internally, at it all. “You’ve only known me for a few minutes and you think I’m loyal, interesting I guess.” She kept the sandwich in her hand as the trolley rolled by. Nothing was wrong with the sandwich and she thought the soon-to-be Ravenclaw’s comment was slightly condescending, but she bit her tongue. Then when the girl offered to actually get her three of the frogs, Skye decided she wasn’t really that bad. “Well thank you! Let me just open-,“ then as soon as the boxer opened up the frog leapt out of the box and into the air. It’s first choice of landing was the sandwich girl’s head. This made Skye let out a scream of laughter just as she tried to catch it. She liked bugs and creatures. But she missed the little bugger and it jumped onto her lap and then landed on the shoulder of Cynthia. “You didn’t tell me they were alive?!” Skye yelled out, giddy with laughter at the chocolate craziness.

Cynthia’s mouth twitched in a rare, but still somewhat practised smile, ‘That’s part of the fun! Which wizard did you get?’ Then she straightened up and said, ‘They are sentient, like Gargoyles. I heard we’re going to learn about them — I mean Gargoyles here, not chocolate frogs — in the first history of magic lesson.’ Her mouth twitched again, remembering a fond memory of her Gargoyle, but she quickly stopped. ‘And, about your house. You are very… humourous, extroverted … among many other traits. You are very loyal to your parents since they know what is happening. I think that you might be a bit of a Gryffindor and Slytherin, though.’
Cynthia took out her newly bought book. ‘Look at this. Its the One that Let it Snow by Amaelle Nelly , a bestseller at Flourish and Blotts.’ She opened the book and flipped through it. ‘A beauty, isn’t it?’ She flipped to the first page and started to read out loud. After she finished to preface, which was quite short, she looked over to Skye, ‘I’m going to read this magnificent thing for a while. If you have any questions or anything you want to talk about, do say.’

The Muggle-Born girl straightened up in her seat and tilted her head while she studied the card. The inhabitant was a redheaded man with big bushy beard, topped with a green hat with a feather. He looked at Skye and then disappeared which surprised the girl. “I got Burdock Muldoon, but he’s picture isn’t there anymore…” She even flipped it over to see if he’d moved to the back since some of the newspapers she had seen had moving images. To the comment about them being sentient, she nodded. Some of this stuff she would just have to understand over time. As for Cynthia’s comments on which Houses she would be in, she chuckled. “Well a professor came to my house and talked to my parents. For what I guess, they got to choose if I could come or not. But I guess I should take it as a compliment. I’m the type of person who could go to all the Houses. Except Ravenclaw.” There was a hint of sarcasm in her voice, but no malice could’ve been detected. Skye gave a small nod when her carriage partner brought out the book and listened for a second as she read the first page, but eventually she stared out the window and her mind was occupied by what she was passing and what was to come. She was fine for now, no questions, just preparing herself for the new world she had been plunged into.
