Farewell for now… Closed

Ouroboros turned the corner with her parents and saw a magnificent train standing dormant in the middle of the rail station. She knew it was old but it looked in remarkably pristine condition.
Her parents were right behind her helping Ouroboros with her bags.
Ouroboros was so excited. She had brought a few good books with her and hoped that she would have the time to read them and find a quiet compartment.
“Well shall we find a place on the train?” Her father asked slightly out of breath from carrying the luggage.
Ouroboros laughed slightly at how out of shape he was but she was grateful to him for helping to carry everything.
“Yes, I’m hoping to find an empty compartment.”
Her mother smiled at her but gave a worried glance at her father who missed it completely.
Her mother rolled her eyes.
“Darling, don’t you think it would be nice to ride with someone your first time? Maybe you’ll make a new friend!” She encouraged hopefully.
“I did think about that but you know I don’t usually put myself in a situation with lots of people. I’m not always great at conversation. I prefer to observe more than engage.” Ouroboros said looking down at her feet.
“Well you’d better get used to it.” Her father warned. “When you’re at Hogwarts there’s nothing but people, loud and obnoxious too.”
“I know I know.” Ouroboros said exasperated. “Let’s just go find a spot on the train.”
Leading the way she entered the train and went down the aisle way. Most of the train compartments had already been filled or had at least one or two people there. At last she found an empty one, second from the back.
“Okay I found it.” She called to her parents who were slightly behind.
“Thank goodness.” Her father said teasingly still huffing and puffing from hauling all the luggage.
He placed her bags in the luggage holding compartment that was located near the ceiling.
The train whistle sounded and they all looked at each other.
“I guess this is farewell.” Ouroboros said with a note of sadness, suddenly feeling the gravity of the situation. She wouldn’t see her parents at the very least until Christmas. It would be the longest she’d ever been away from home.
“Aww don’t worry darling! It’s farewell for now… You’ll learn so much and we will write to you often! You will do marvelous!” Her mother encouraged as she embraced Ouroboros though Ouroboros could hear her trying to hold back tears.
Her father came and embraced her tightly.
“Try not to have too much fun without us.” He said jokingly with a smile hit Ouroboros could see a hint of sorrow in his eyes.
“I’ll be fine. I’ll really miss you both though.” Ouroboros said trying to put on a brave face.
The trains whistle sounded again signaling that the departure was close at hand.
“Well we’d best be off.” Her mother said as she took her father by the arm. Blowing a final kiss her parents began making their way off the train. Ouroboros watched them leave down the aisle way, peeking out from the door. As they left she retreated into her compartment and closed the door slightly. She was said but excited all at the same time. She pulled out one of the books she had brought from her bag and began reading. She knows that there are opportunities to make friends but who would want to be friends with her? Shrugging she began reading and thought, if someone comes, they come and I’ll figure it all out from there.
