“Tar ar Charlie, tá iontas orm duit!” Come on Charlie, I have a surprise for you! I got up from the chair I was sitting in, and walked in to the living room. The rug was rolled back and mum was holding the flower pot full of floo powder.Oh boy. Here we go. I personally hated floo powder, but today I was going to do it.

“Sea mam! is cuma liom!” Ok mum! Lets do it! I stepped forward and grabbed a handful of the grayish powder. I stepped in to the fireplace, and shouted, “Diagon Alley!” I closed my eyes and tucked my arms in. When I got there, I opened my eyes and saw the alley ahead of me. Mum came right behind me, and smiled. I looked at her, and she began to tell me why we were here.

Mum didn’t speak much English, so we spoke Irish at home. Both me and Eliza knew Irish and English, but we still used Irish so mum didn’t feel bad. Around the wizarding world, she understood and spoke some English. I usually went with her on errands and such, just in case.

“Mar sin, Charlie. Táimid anseo mar tá a fhios agam gur theastaigh peata uait i gcónaí, agus seo an t-am.” So, Charlie. We are here because I know you have always wanted a pet, and now is the time. My face erupted with surprise.

“Really?” I asked. I thought I was never going to get one! But, it turned out that today was the day. We began walking down the alley, looking at all the shops.

When we finally got to the shop, Mum pulled the door open. The shop was filled with animals such as, cats, toads, snakes owls, and more. The shop keepers, and old couple, with gray hair were sitting behind the desk talking quietly. When the noticed we had come in, the man leaped out of his chair, and began walking over to us. When he was a few feet away he slowed down.

“Hello, hello ladies! Is there anything I can help you with?” he asked.

I looked up at my mom, and she game me a look that almost said, go on. “Hi! I am looking for a pet, an owl or maybe a cat.” I said, really just wanting to look around.

“Alright. Let me know if you need anything.”

I smiled back at him and started to the owl cages. I wanted a dog, but my mum had shot that down a long time ago. I started to the cat cages, and I saw a litter of the cutest, fluffiest cats I had ever seen. I looked down at the label and I saw that it was a Silver Siberian, and they were born on June ninth, 2022. My half birthday. I knew it was the cat for me. I walked swiftly back to the front table, and told the man that I found the perfect cat. he followed me back to the cages and I pointed at the one I wanted. He told me that it was a she and I settled on the name Zara.

We walked back to the counter, where the lady had a cat carrier ready to go. I picked out a bag of cat food, and put my 15 galleons up on the counter. I was buying the cat and mum was buying the food. I could not believe that Zara was now mine.
