Hunter let out a dreadful cough as he laid his cauldron and satchel against one of the old dust-covered desks in the room. The dust had risen catching him a bit off guard, but there was also the issue that Hunter was possibly sick. His cough echoed a bit in the empty room, and his attempts at keeping them quiet were rather hard to accomplish. A sneeze or two would escape as time went on, but he knew he just needed to be quick and fast. He didn't feel like spending time in the dungeons as the chills and goosebumps on his body would have disagreed greatly with the cold environment in such a location. Hunter was already beginning to feel the weakness in his arms grow slightly and the tired expression he held often looked almost completely fatigued in nature.
The sickness wasn't magical and could easily be cured in the nursing wing with a spell or potion within mere seconds. However, Hunter considered not doing so for selfish reasons. For starters, he knew he could easily cure the sickness with his own brewing of Pepperup Potion. Secondly, the Pepperup potion was one of the first potions his grandmother ever taught him, and as such, it reminded him greatly of home. If he had a chance to brew and use the potion, he would take it. However, the sickness he felt was rather overbearing and his immune system was most likely already weakened due to his constant anxiety, paranoia, and lack of sleep. A constant headache banged at the boy's head, and all he could do was grumble from the tiredness and slight fever beginning to rise in his head. Opening his stopwatch, he took note of the amount of time left before dinner. He had the time, and without further wasting it he began to go through his satchel for the necessary ingredients rummaging his hand around the various items inside. He would place the ingredients atop one desk, his cauldron on another, and a third for himself to sit at as he found it troublesome to continue standing. The ingredients he took out and listed were: "Honey... Horn of a Bicorn... Horn of a Graphorn...Hemlock...Limpet...Dried Nettles..." Hunter cursed. The headache was growing, and he noticed he was missing three essential ingredients: "Don't tell me I left them in the common room..." He sighed, giving up without even checking a second time. He was tired, and the more time that went on the more tired he felt. He gave up, there was no point if he didn't have everything and he wasn't up in the mood to try and test another poison. Instead, he took out a bunch of sweets and began to eat them, letting the wrappers litter the floor. He was upset, and decided to visit the nursing wing... after... one... nap; not even realizing the mess he had made with everything.

Rebecca was wandering the castle. Ever since his first night sneaking out of the common room and wandering the halls he'd felt an irresistable draw within him to investigate the hidden little corners of Hogwarts, and it wasn't unusual for him to slip away from his friends to have a look around.
He'd excused himself from dinner early and left the Great Hall with the intention of planning out a potential route to take later in the night. It was all-too easy to get turned around in the dark, and Rebecca had found that it was smarter to have an idea of where to go beforehand and make mental note of interesting locations.
As Rebecca walked through the empty corridor he noticed a heavy oak door that was propped slightly ajar up ahead, as if someone had forgotten to close it all the way. His curiousity piqued, and he peered his head through the crack to look inside.
It appeared to be an abandoned classroom, most of the chairs and desks were pushed carelessly against a wall gathering dust. Most alarmingly, a boy's body lay curled in the center of the room next to an empty cauldron and some piles of trash.
Rebecca's heart skipped a beat and he pushed aside the door and moved closer, internally panicking. Oh God, is he dead? Is this a dead body?
He hesitated. I mean, I've got to check.
Rebecca tentatively nudged the boy's side with his foot. "Erm. Are you alive?"

The slight nudge on Hunter's foot made him jolt immediately awake and forced him to point his wand at whoever caused it... well, that is what normally would have happened. Instead, he groaned. It was quiet, but slightly annoyed as well: "Dakika tano zaidi, mama." 5 more minutes, mom. The boy's tone had gone to his native tongue from home. His strong African and slight Scottish accent mix spoke as he eventually began to twitch and flutter his eyes open. The headache the boy was experiencing was still present, and his nose felt rather clogged to which he sniffled a bit to prevent any mucus from dripping out of his nose. Eventually, his eyes opened and the blurry background of the abandoned classroom wasn't unfamiliar to him. What was unfamiliar was the individual standing near Hunter, to which was a big surprise to him. However, the sickness he had honestly just made him lack any energy to react swiftly or extremely well. In such a situation, he just needed to play it safe and figure out what was going on and who the person was.
He lifted his head, groaning a bit more and stating "Nimechoka" I'm tired in a fashion towards himself. He looked around and took note of the mess of ingredients and wrappers he made. He knew was gonna have to clean them all up despite lacking the energy. He reached into his robes and took out two chocolate frogs. He spent a majority of his allowance on sweets and it was one of his weaknesses. He offered one to this strange boy, in hopes of getting on their good side. Hunter was at a disadvantage and he already had the rule to get on someone's good side whenever he was in such situations. Almost any normal interaction Hunter had, was just an opportunity of risk to him. He had to treat everything and everyone with caution. That's just who he was and how he is: "So, who are you? And what are you doing here?"

Rebecca yelped and jumped back as the boy on the ground stirred, mumbling something that he didn't quite catch. He sniffed loudly and groaned as he sat up, looking utterly awful. It looked a bit like the boy (a Ravenclaw, judging by the badge) was trying to glare blearily at him, but the intimidation factor was diminished slightly by the the massive bags under his eyes and the irritated state of his runny nose.
Rebecca shook as head at the offer of a chocolate frog. "Mate, you look like you need that a lot more than I do right now," he said bluntly.
At the Ravenclaw's question, Rebecca guiltily rubbed the back of his neck. "I was just having a look around," he quickly stuttered. "Er- my name's Rebecca. You look awful." Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that bit.
"Can I help you in some way? Maybe walk you to the Hospital Wing or something?" Rebecca offered hesitantly.
He looked around at the boy's belongings strewn about the classroom. "Here, I'll help you clean up first."
Rebecca busied himself by picking up the wrappers of the candy, making sure to give the other boy plenty of space. It felt a bit like trying to care for a feral cat to be honest, and Rebecca was not interested in pissing off a disorientated wizard. As he worked, Rebecca recognized which ingredients were set up by the empty cauldron.
"Were you trying to make a PepperUp Potion?" he asked in surprise. It had never occured to him to brew a potion for himself outside of class, but it made sense now what the Ravenclaw was doing here. Something was absent though, and Rebecca frowned in confusion. "I think you're missing the ethanol and Mandrake Roots. And the..." he snapped his fingers, trying to remember. "Jewelweed!"
Rebecca turned to look back at him. "But why make it yourself? Why not go talk to the nurse?"

Hunter held his head, the headache wasn't fading away and the other boy's talking wasn't really helping with it: "Ethanol and Jewelweed are used for a different version of brewing PepperUp Potion, I prefer the version that involves Murtlap Tentacles." The boy covered his eyes a bit, "Appreciate the help, but don't think that means I owe you anything." Hunter's tone was slightly mild, and he made the statement merely because he felt he had to. Kindness wasn't exactly something he faced on a daily basis, and his paranoia always made him think that people helped him out of wanting something more. If there was something Hunter didn't want, it was having to owe another person a favor; if anything, he wanted to be the one who was owed a favor.
"Rebecca, right?" it was a bit odd for Hunter to call a student by their first name, he usually used students' last names with an honor (Mr./Ms./Mx.). That was odd to many outsiders, but it was something he was used to and taught to do: "I prefer my own potions over others. I prefer brewing to just walking into the Hosptial Wing. Normally I'd do this in the potions room, but I barely have the energy to head toward the Dungeon." Hunter's voice sound a little annoyed, it seemed the sickness was putting him in a rather sour mood, it was nothing against Rebecca. Hunter decided to open the 2nd chocolate frog and eat it himself, feeling a bit better having something sweet to eat. "If you really wanna help I'd suggest looking for my cousin Vale who's a part of your house, or better yet head to the potions room and smuggle a few of the last ingredients back here."
A rather devilish and selfish request from Hunter. At first, he had considered requesting the boy to ask a Ravenclaw to retrieve the items from his dorm, but Hunter trusted nobody in his own house to complete such a task. Even now he had little trust in Rebecca, and he suspected the boy would try and possibly get help from others: "Or don't. I just need to rest a little longer, then I can head back to my dorm and brew the potion there." As the mess Hunter had created disappeared, he could only sigh and look at Rebecca, "Since you are a first year I'll give you a tip. Kindness won't get you anywhere. Be careful of who you give it to, and who you share it with." Something that Hunter had to learn the hard way. He eventually sneezed, and a long line of snot covered the desk and part of his robe. Rather disgusting and unsightly. He groaned, "Scourgify." Taking out his wand and utilized the cleaning charm to rid himself and the desk of the awful sickness he had spread.

Rebecca cocked his head. Murtlap Tentacles... that might offset the steam! It was a clever twist, one that he hadn't even considered.
Rebecca stifled a smile at the boy's mild warning. Whatever threat he might pose later, right now he mostly just looked like he was seconds away from passing out. Again.
"Rebecca, right?"
"Yeah, that's my name," he grinned. "Don't wear it out."
He leaned back on the cleared-off table as he listened to the Ravenclaw's explanation, but straightened up as the boy looked up and seemed to root him to the spot with his gaze.
"Since you are a first year I'll give you a tip," he sighed. "Kindness won't get you anywhere. Be careful of who you give it to, and who you share it with."
His advice seemed a bit ominous, coming from someone not that much older than Rebecca himself.
"I'll keep it in mind, thanks," Rebecca replied smoothly, but he had no actual intention of keeping it in mind.
True, not everyone was worth being kind to, but he figured being nice to people-- even people you didn't like very much-- was going to get him a lot further than needlessly making enemies. And speaking of... an idea sparked in his mind.
He studied the boy in sudden interest as he considered his options, and smiled.
"Okay," Rebecca said after a moment to think. "I'll get the ingredients. Two questions first, though." He held up a finger. "What's your name? If I'm going to smuggle for you, I need to at least know who you are. Second," he put down his hand, "I'd like for you to tutor me in Potions."
It wasn't because he was struggling with grades. Potions was his second best class next to Transfiguration, but he wanted this boy's insight, and an excuse to brew a few potions for his own use outside of class. Besides, it wasn't every day the oppertunity to talk with a potions prodigy fell into Rebecca's lap.
"It's not kindness," he assured the Ravenclaw with a sharp smile. "You won't owe me anything down the line, and I'll learn a couple new potions. Seems like a good deal, unless you want to nap in your own goo some more, but it's really up to you."
He shrugged off-handedly, but his smile lost none of its edge.

Hunter placed his hand on his head, the headache was only growing and it was becoming more difficult for him to focus, let alone think and contemplate the risks or benefits of teaching Rebecca any sort of potion brewing. At the moment he saw no long-term benefits, he'd only be rid of a mere fever and stuffy nose for the short term. Hunter's eyes loomed over to his satchel, there was a potion called "Gregor's Unctuous Unction" inside that would make the drinker believe whoever gave them said potion was their best friend. Perhaps he could trick Rebecca into drinking it, and as a friend would smuggle the items without wanting anything in return. Devious in thought as always, but it seemed more like a waste to Hunter. He tried his best to plan around Rebecca's demands, but the headache only grew with each thought and as such he would groan.
Another sneeze come out of the boy, and with it more snot replaced the spots he already cleaned, "Chochote1." He didn't bother cleaning the mess this time, he was tired and annoyed. "I am in no condition to make deals. I also see no benefit on my end in the long run," it was also perhaps the thought that Hunter would owe time to Rebecca in the future that threw him off a bit. He knew little to nothing about this person and his paranoia was making him feel more unsettled by the moment. Perhaps being devious was the only option Hunter could think of. Another sneeze and a groan escaped from Hunter and he finally came to a decision: "How about this then, there's a potion in my satchel. Glass vial, green colored. You can have it as payment if you smuggle the ingredients to me. It'll actually help you get the items and if you succeed then maybe, I'll teach you how to brew it." Hunter's laid his head on the desk looking at Rebecca to carefully watch what their next move was going to be. The potion he described was Gregor's Unctuous Unction. If Rebecca drank it, then he would consider Hunter to be a friend perhaps a close or best friend if it worked well enough. With that, he could probably manipulate this scenario without having to promise anything to Rebecca. The question was if he would drink it, question Hunter, or just take it as payment. Even if he did just take it as payment, Hunter would be fine as he could always brew another and the potion itself was actually a gift from someone who he had broken ties with.
