This is taking place before these characters have gone to Hogwarts, since it isn't possible otherwise. So keep in mind that the characters would not have been sorted into houses and etc.
Muttering under her breath, Lexie walked into the Great Hall of the Leaky Cauldron, and sat down in a slightly angry fashion. You'd think she would be in a good mood, she had just finished shopping for her wand, books, and cloaks to go to the legendary Hogwarts. But, the young girl was annoyed at herself which could be argued as the worst person to be annoyed at. The Leaky Cauldron was relatively empty since it was the evening, but a few people sat around the large wooden table. Some were reading the Daily Prophet, some staring out in space, and some drinking and eating.
Lexie reached into her satchel and took out a flask of tea, her father forced her to bring. The thought of him made her even more frustrated but she was too thirsty to care. Gulping down the sweet drink, her bad mood started to dissipate, especially when she noticed a few people who looked about her age. Her eyes sparkled as she realized some of them might be going into Hogwarts as fellow first years. Maybe she should try talking to them, she thought, but she needed to figure out what to say first. But before she could, one of them locked eyes with her.

His mom was doing the best she could, it was hard being clueless of magic and it crashing down on you all at once. Learning your son was a wizard, and that he was capable of doing magic, and he was accepted at a school of witchcraft and wizardry. It was all a little overwhelming, she made sure to follow all the instructions laid out on the fine parchment. She would never forget that day, Edward had been whining because he didn't want to eat the okra, and the next thing she knew, poof! it had blown up, it had changed her life. She looked behind her flashing her silver-blue eyes, Edward seemed to drag on behind her, she knew he was a very energetic boy, and she knew right now he was bored. She sighed and clicked her tongue, what was she supposed to do with him? His brunette hair hung so long that it touched his shoulders, it perfectly framed his sun-kissed freckled face. Just like his father, she though with a sad smile. She knew she didn't have long before he would start acting out his imaginings and run into something, he was very clumsy she thought it had something to do with his way above-average height. She smiled as he continuously adjusted his top-hat, he literally couldn't leave without a hat perched on his head. He was such a strange child, but she loved him with every inch of her heart.
"Here," mother said handing Edward a small pouch. "Go ahead to The Leaky Cauldron and buy something, I'm going to go do some boring stuff, okay? Have some fun!"
Her dark lips moved to form more of a heart than a smile, pure love is what she was. Edward smiled back revealing the small gap between his large two front teeth, strange yet charming. It was a little nerve-racking to leave him here for a bit, but it was for the better.
"See you in a bit," he said in his American accent. He gave her a quick hug before heading into the leaky cauldron. She watched as he walked, carefully every step he took, she almost let out a laugh at his use of his umbrella like a cane. She shook her head as he disappeared into the store, What am I going to do with that sunchild?
...
Edward walked into what was called The Leaky Cauldron, he was astonished by the different crowds of people, both old and young, he let his curious dark eyes observe and examine all the strange people. His mother had always said he was a detective at heart. Edward tried to straighten his posture a little more upright, trying to look like the stereotypical rich people he had seen in movies, but he quickly found it ridiculous and laughed at himself when he caught how he looked through someone's goblet. As he scanned the room he saw many different people who looked his age, he wondered if they too were too be Hogwarts students. As he looked a pair of light-green eyes caught his dark ones. It was a girl his age, she was tall just like him, the girl had long chestnut hair and freckles that laid on her small face. He smiled and waved, he didn't care if that was awkward or not, neither did he know if that was awkward or not, the perks of being homeschooled. He walked over using his umbrella like a cane, and took a seat next to her, he pushed some of his long brunette hair out from his face, sticking out his hand speaking with an American accent,
"Hi! I'm Edward Edwards! What drink is that?" He said pointing to her flask, as always his eyes flashed with curiosity, they say eyes are the window to the soul, Edward was living proof his eyes were definitely a tell-tale. He ordered some cookies and hot chocolate. He pushed the cookies into the middle of the table. "You can have some as well!" He smiled sweetly.

────────────────────────────────I had just finished all of my shopping, and my mum had instructed me to go and meet some people my age. I didn’t really have any wizard or witch friends, so I guess she wanted me to make some. I had only been to Diagon alley a few times, and all of those times I was with my mum the entire time.
I headed over to the Leakey Cauldron, and slowly stepped in. It was busy and the bar was completely packed. I had no interest in hanging out with the adults, but spotted two younger people in the back that looked about my age. There was one boy, [@Edward Edwards] and one girl, [@Lexie Sereno] and there was cookies and hot chocolate on the table. I walked right over and said, “Hello! My name is Charlie, and I’m starting Hogwarts this year.” I looked around the place and turned back to the others. “I’ll be right back, just going to order some food.”
I was actually going to order something, as I hadn’t eaten in a few hours. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, which costed six sickles and seven knuts, and then I purchased a butterbeer, which costed three sickles. When my food was ready, I grabbed it and confidently walked back to the table.────────────────────────────────

He had a slightly crooked smile, soft looking brown hair, and a slim frame. A normal looking guy, but what struck Lexie, was his American accent, something that was uncommon in London and the UK in general. He asked a question but the a plate of delicious cookies that were pushed towards her took all of her attention. As she bit into the warm treat, she thought about what the boy said. Edward Edwards, he had called himself. Definitely a unique name, and the way he just walked up to her and introduced himself made him a unique boy too. Lexie could've never done such a thing, though she wish she could. Now he was here, so there was nothing to do but speak.
Once she swallowed the bite of cookie, she said, "Pleasure to meet you, Edward Edwards. I'm Lexie Sereno. This is one good cookie, so I believe that makes us friends. Why don't you sit down?" She waited for him to sit, and watched as another girl introduced herself as Charlie. A brunette, with pale skin and stormy gray eyes. Lexie was about to reply, but Charlie walked off before she could, so she decided to introduce herself once she came back with her food.
Lexie looked back at Edward, and smiled. This was going to be an interesting evening. "Do you go to Hogwarts? I'm starting as a first year this fall!" She hoped he was, since if she could make a few friends before starting school, that would make the whole thing feel a lot less scary. Even though she was nervous, excitement leaked into her voice as she uttered the last few words, and she waited expectantly for an answer.

"I'm going to be a first year as well at Hogwarts! So cool!" He smiled largely. "Are you excited for it?"
He took a big bite of the cookie, his cheeks puffed up like a hamster's.
"I am, I usually stay inside, well by that I mean I'm home-schooled so I stay at home, but I like going outside a lot that's why I have a bit of freckles.... He looked expectingly at her.

Karrie was totally exhausted after her visit to the Diagon Alley. It would have been less painful only if her dad didn't accompany her.
"Wasn't it so amazing shopping in that- um- what was that? Dia- Diamond Alley?",her dad said, looking at Karrie eagerly
"It's Diagon Alley, dad", Karrie said carelessly.
"Your brother never told us about such an amazing place!"
Karrie rolled her eyes, of course her brother mentioned it in the letter, but her dad never had time to read it. She was especially shocked when her dad agreed to accompany her instead of Esco, her second brother, a very overprotective one.
"I will go to the Leaky Cauldron for some rest and keep my Hogwarts materials in our lounge. You can continue shopping-"
"Wow! Is it allowed to go to Hogsmeade anytime around?", her dad asked excitedly, while attentively reading the Daily Prophet, which was mentioning the visit to Hogsmeade for third years in Hogwarts, and narrowly cutting her sentence off.
"It's far away from here. You still haven't seen many things in Diagon Alley. And try keeping out of trouble in this place", Karrie doesn't know if her dad heard her last bit, because he already ran towards a lady selling dragon heart.

Karrie was now sitting comfortably on the chair, enjoying her chocolate muffins, which was beautifully decorated with chocolate chips and filled with chocolate caramel. She looked around, guessing that many of the children present there were first years like her. She was looking forward to make friends and here was the exact opportunity.
She looked around the table. When she suddenly noticed a girl with chestnut hair and a boy with brunette hair making conversations.
Following it, another girl joined them. Karrie wasn't able to make out what she said, but then she looked around and went away.
Karrie thought it was her chance to snatch for the long waiting opportunity. But she thought to be a bit respectful and bought four cups of butter beer from the counter.
Karrie made her way towards them, not knowing if they continued with there conversation and she is totally disturbing them. However she kept the butter beer on the table and said, "Hey guys, pleasure meeting you. Myself Karrie. Karrie Myers. It's my first time here and I am already so exhausted after shopping in the Diagon Alley."
She noticed the similar girl she saw a little while earlier, making her way towards them with food. Karrie was getting excited little by little, she will be able to make so many friends, after all.

────────────────────────────────Once I arrived back at the table, there was another girl. Wow. So many people!
“I’m Charlie, nice to meet you.” I said as I turned to the girl who I hadn’t introduced myself to. I smiled, and began eating my grilled cheese. I thought it was a muggle food, but apparently it’s in both worlds. I set my grilled cheese down, and took a swig of my butterbeer. It was good. I never really had much wizarding food because I liked in a muggle town. I knew of the wizarding world because my parents were both wizards, but we just lived in an area with a lot of muggles, so we did almost everything the muggle way. I mean, we still did stuff the wizarding way, but we always made sure that there were no muggles in sight. It was hard some times, keeping a big secret, that I couldn’t ever share with my friends. And now I pretty much had to leave them to attend Hogwarts.
I turned back to the group. “So, what houses do you guys want, or think you will fit the best in?” I asked the group. “Personally, I think I would be a Hufflepuff or maybe even a Gryffindor. I think Slytherin would fit me after that, then Ravenclaw.” I added. I picked up my grilled cheese and took a few more bites.────────────────────────────────

Edward hadn't even been able to say anything, let alone introduce himself before leaving. Lexie turned to Edward and smiled,

He looked expectantly at her, but before she could answer another face appeared, she had a fair complexion and long locks of brown hair, she held a large mug in her hand, Edward had no idea what it was.
"Hey guys, pleasure meeting you. Myself Karrie. Karrie Myers. It's my first time here and I am already so exhausted after shopping in the Diagon Alley."
"Nice to meet you Karrie Myers! Cool name by da way! I'm Edward Edwards... Me as well, my mom let me take a break while continues shopping... Do you know who Nanny McPhee is?"
But before she could answer the girl who had introduced herself as Charlie earlier came back with some grilled cheese, she saw Karrie and smiled politely at her, she greeted her good mannerly and sat to eat her grilled cheese. Edward brushed some of his long hair back to rest behind his ear, and once again adjusted his top-hat.
Everyone was drinking the odd drink, Edward stuck to his delicious hot chocolate. He pushed the cookies to the middle of the table so that everyone could share.
Charlie decided to speak up once again,
“So, what houses do you guys want, or think you will fit the best in? Personally, I think I would be a Hufflepuff or maybe even a Gryffindor. I think Slytherin would fit me after that, then Ravenclaw.” she stated as she took a couple more bites of her grilled cheese.
Huff puff? Griffin for? Sly there in? Ravens claw? Those were all very weird words, and Edward had no idea what it all meant.... But he played along, maybe they were imagining like he always did!
"Cool!" He thought which one he thought sounded the coolest. "Umm... Maybe..... Griffin for or Huff Puff?" As he talked he took two cookies stabbing the top of them with two forks, he held each fork in each hand. The cookies were like feet and the forks like legs, he started moving them like they were dancing, he motioned them to go along with the quiet music playing behind them in the building. He just quietly listened to the others response recording them all into his memory hard drive... This surely was going to be interesting...

Lexie beamed when Edward said he was also starting as a first year at Hogwarts. "That's awesome!" He asked a few more questions, but she had no idea what a Nanny McPhee was, so she just nodded, trying to keep the confusion off her face.
Another girl was sitting opposite to Lexie, with brown hair and a cresent shaped birth mark on the side of her neck. She introduced herself as Karrie, and explained how she was tired from shopping. "Me too! To be honest I can't stand shopping but I needed school things," she responded. "Oh, I'm Lexie by the way."
She watched as Edward and Karrie spoke a bit, and noticed the same light haired girl come back and sit down, holding butterbeer and some type of sandwich. She said her name was Charlie, and asked the group what houses they would be sorted into. Lexie thought about it, and decided on Gryffindor or Slytherin. She considered herself dense as a rock, and she wasn't that hardworking so by process of elimination, the other two houses were the only options. "Probably Gryffindor, or maybe Slytherin."
Grabbing another cookie, she bit into the warm thing as it melted into her mouth. She turned to Edward and asked, "So, where are you from? I haven't heard much of that accent." Not wanting to exclude people, she looked at the other two girls and quickly said, "Actually, where are all of you from?"
Lexie was surprised at the large group that had formed, and hoped they would become friends, but only time would tell.

"Probably Gryffindor, or maybe Slytherin," Lexie said before taking another cookie, Edward decided to take another as well, he first dipped it into his hot chocolate before taking a bite, Delicious!
Lexie turned to look at Edward, curiousity plastered on her face.
"So, where are you from? I haven't heard much of that accent," She said before she quickly added looking to the other two girls. "Actually, where are all of you from?"
Edward first swallowed his cookie before answering, of course he had manners.
"Im English-Irish American, I was raised mostly in Florida, USA that's why I have an american accent, but my Mother is full english," Edward said it easily, he spoke with no filter between his mind and his mouth. "What about you?"
He took another bite of the cookies looking at all the others before taking another gulp of hot chocolate. Edward smiled to himself thinking of one his favorite pastimes, listening to radio shows. His favorite was Yours Truly Johnny Dollar. Johnny Dollar was America's best insurance investigator, people would kill off their own family just for money. Edward couldn't believe that they would do that, it came as a shock everytime. He remembered one of the stories where a man was found dead, everyone suspected it was his wife's fault. Whether she hired someone or did it herself for his insurance and high income. But turns out another guy was in love with the man's wife so he killed him to have her. It was one of the biggest twists he had ever heard over the radio, it just proved that not everything was as it seemed. Edward hoped he could be like Johnny Dollar one day, an investigator that made sure to get to the very bottom of things and not just the surface. He looked about the table scanning all three of the girls faces. Before he looked beyond the small table to all the strange people, old and young wlaking about and chatting, even exchanging items underneath tables. What secrets lied even here at the Leaky Cauldron? Though Edward may not be able to now, he promised there and here that he would come back one day and find the truths and secrets that were hidden, even the ones that lay 6 feet below..... He took another sip of hot chocolate, nodding at the girl's responses. For now he had to focus on a smaller investigation....
