Hannah was bored, she had just gotten out of class, and already had done her entire homework, she had done it quite quickly, 56 minutes, 3 seconds, she had timed it. The needed some fresh air. She loved spending time besides the Great Lake. It was quiet, much little students even dared to come near the lake, because of the merpeople. Hannah never feared the merpeople, she believed it was only a myth, or was it? She enjoyed the environment; she had always enjoyed the outdoors. She was walking around the lake for a little while now. Hannah was feeling a big hungry, she remembered she had three slices of carrot cake in her bag. Was the girl really that hungry? Or could she save it for later? No, she was extremely hungry, as she had not eaten lunch, she was...busy, studying. She sat down, in a place near the lake. She cleared a spot (removing a few leaves and some branches), she did not have a picnic blanket, so she just sat down in the grass. Hannah opened a medium-sized container with the three slices of orange carrot cake, before grabbing one of them, to eat of course, she waved at a yellow-haird girl, Tesla Stone. Hannah had seen he before, in the train, however, they did not sit in the same compartment.

Tesla was going for a jog out on the grounds. Unfortunately, too many people were around for her to do the sprinting and jumping and chasing of squirrels she'd like to do normally, but she needed to get out, so a normal person jog it was. It was still relaxing, if not quite as fun. As she was considering running around the side of the castle where there were less people, so she could jump around like a hooligan, she caught the scent of carrot cake drifting towards her on the breeze.
She'd eaten lunch less than thirty minutes ago, but maybe if the person it belonged to had grabbed some spare slices... As Tes got closer she saw it was a girl with long brown hair sitting on the grass by the lake. She waved at Tes, and although she did her best to remember if she'd seen her before it didn't ring a bell. Maybe the sorting ceremony? Tesla didn't have the best memory for names, but she seemed friendly enough, so she figured there'd be no harm in introducing herself.
"Hi! I'm Tesla Stone, but you can call me Tes! Mind if I join you?" she settled down to sit nearby on the grass stretching her legs out and wiping a bit of sweat off her neck, "Have we met before? I'm a Hufflepuff, first year." She thought about offering her hand to shake, but the sweat clinging to her palms made her thing better of it.

"Hi! I'm Hannah, I don't think we have met before. I'm an also a first year, however I'm a Gryffindor." She looked at Tes as if she had met her before. Maybe they had? She did not know why she had waved at her. Maybe she had seen her at lunch, or at the Sorting Ceremony. "Of course, you can join me. Do you like carrot cake?" The girl offered her a slice of the orange carrot cake. She looked at the yellow haired girl again. "So, Tes what is your favorite class?" Hannah asked. "And where do you usually spend your free time here in Hogwarts? She could think of thousands of questions to ask to Tesla, but then the girl would think she was weird or something even worse. Hannah did not know if Tes was keeping up with her questions, maybe she already thought she was a weirdo. The girl did not have many friends, so she did not know if this was how to make new friends, she was homeschooled her whole life, and this was her first time to make real friends, to be in a real school. Back home, her only friends were her neighbors. She looked back at Tesla.

Tesla smiled at Hannah as she introduced herself, "Nice to meet you!" Now Tes was closer she could see the girl's hair was closer to a red color, with a strip of white in it and blue eyes as well. She couldn't help but wonder if her hair was dyed or natural, but figured it wasn't important enough to ask, especially when her attention was drawn away by the mention of carrot cake.
"Oh man, I love carrot cake! Honestly, I'm a big fan of basically all food, but I smelled the cake when I was passing by and figured it wouldn't hurt to see if you had any extra..." She didn't want to seem greedy, and she felt a bit bad for taking what seemed to be Hannah's lunch, but she didn't feel bad enough to not take the offered plate. It was offered, after all. "Thank you!" she beamed, starting to quickly take a few bites of the delicious dessert until Hannah asked her a question, and Tes realized she'd gotten so distracted by the cake she'd forgotten to get to know her better.
"I think my favorite class is either charms or flying. Charms because the spells are so much more useful than anything else, and flying because I get to be outside! That's where I usually spend my time. The Hufflepuff dorm I'm in kinda looks and feels like the outdoors, but it's not the same. So I just come out here to run around or eat any chance I get." She took another bite of carrot cake and swallowed before asking in return, "What about you? What's your favorite class so far? What do you do in your free time?" She always enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends, and was more than happy to chat and ask questions while the two enjoyed the lake.

Hannah smiled as she looked at Tesla. "Well, to be honest I like potions and D.A.D.A, my parents didn't really enjoy potions, but it seems I do." she took a big bite of her cake. "And I like spending most of the time in courtyard, or the lake, anywhere outdoors. The Gryffindor dorm is nice as well." "Where are you from? I'm from Scotland, but Hogwarts is in Scotland, but I live in Glasgow, which is mid-central." her thick Scottish accent brushed in "sneezes" "Oh sorry." "Anyways, I've been thinking of signing up for duelling, or quidditch. It seems interesting to find something to do in my free time here at Hogwarts, since they don't have Scottish Rugby..." she grinned as she spoke. "You see, some people consider it as a joke to the Wizarding World, but it's still a part of the magical community back where I live, I recon you haven't heard of it." The girl took a bite again, but this time smaller, and she smiled as she swallowed it. She decided she should give Tesla a chance to speak. The girl looked around as the sun started to set. This was one of her favorite times of the day.

Tes smiled at Hannah's Scottish accent slipping in, unsurprised that she lived here in Scotland where Hogwarts was. "I'm from a little town called Burford, it's near Oxford in England. One of my mum's is from America, so sometimes I'll have a little bit of an American accent which is always funny! I heard about Glasgow from her; she always jokes that she can barely tell people there are speaking english," Tes giggled at the mental image of some of the incredibly thick accents she'd heard when she'd travelled to Scotland previously. "I'm on the waitlist to be on the quidditch team for Hufflepuff actually! I tried out for beater, but didn't quite get a starting spot. Which is all good, I haven't been here that long after all." Tes beamed, unshaken by the idea that she hadn't gotten the quidditch position she wanted.
"I haven't heard of Scottish Rugby! You'll have to tell me about it sometime. I'm guessing it's a sport? I'm not good at sports, but I'd be happy to play sometime if you want. I'm not the greatest at magic so I don't think I'll duel on the house team or anything, but it'd be fun to do some friendly duels between friends at the dueling club once we know more spells." Tes finished off her carrot cake, sighing happily and looking out at the sunset shining on the water, smiling as she admired the colors coming into view.

"I've heard about Burford, from my father actually, and I've never been to America, you must, since, well, one of your moms is from there." she smiled as their conversation came this far. Maybe she could make friends after all. Tes had told Hannah that she was on the waitlist on the quidditch team for Hufflepuff. "Sounds nice. Honestly, my friend @Bridget Levitte, she's also in Hufflepuff. So, she's thinking of trying out for chaser. I said she'd do quite well." Tesla hadn't heard of Scottish Rugby, that was not a surprise. "Well, sure I'll tell you, and yeah, it's a sport, most things that sound like sports, are sports." and Tesla had also mentioned how she wasn't planning on duelling for her house or anything. "Well, it's nice to get involved, and you should tell me if you get that quidditch position." She smiled as she talked. "Oh, I should tell you how to play Scottish Rugby. I should warn you, however that it is a very aggressive sport, and we need at least four players and one ball." The rules are simple, a Beater who is unable to fly defends three sticks instead of a hoop, while a Snitch without wings is thrown at the sticks. That’s it." she looked at Tesla's face and her blonde hair. "It's very simple, plus it's fun!"

Tes was surprised to hear that Hannah knew about Burford, especially for someone that hadn't lived there. "Wow! What does your father do? Not many people know about Burford, especially people that aren't nearby," she scratched the back of her neck a bit awkwardly, "I've actually never been to America. That side of the family is a bit distant and we never really see them, but they always send owls on the holidays so it's okay!"
"That's neat! If Bridget gets in we'll see each other on the pitch and that'd be so cool. Hopefully my aim is good enough I won't hit her off her broom," Tes laughed awkwardly, "I'll be sure to tell you if I get in! Fingers crossed it'll be soon."
She listened as Hannah explained the concept of Scottish Rugby, humming thoughtfully. "I think that makes sense! You should set up a game sometime, I bet it'd be really fun and plenty of people would want to play it! I know I'd be interested." Tes thought about it, deciding that although sports hadn't been her favorite thing before coming to Hogwarts, at the very least they were a good way to make friends. "Are you planning to join the Gryffindor team or anything? For quidditch or racing or any of that, that is? I'm not the best at spells so I think my only option really is quidditch, but the rest of it is fun too!"
