BANG! It all happened so quickly, what felt like a second took what really was hours... Now he and another boy sat across from each other in shock, but it wasn't because Edward had accidently ran into him dropping a large stack of books all over the place... Edward knew that a test was coming, and he was intent on a getting grades, his mother had taught him to respect his work and work hard on it. A skill he both thanked and cursed her for, he thanked her for it because it gave him good grades but cursed because he couldn't leave the work or else he would feel tremendous guilt. He went to the library and gathered as much books as the librarian, and his arms, would permit. He hadn't thought his plan all the way through, as he realized the stack of books towered above his head, beating him by a few inches. He walked carefully trying to look past the books with no luck, he got bumped by a couple students as he went, also a few weird glances, that Edward didn't understand nor did her care. He continued his venture forward when he ran hard into something, Edward fell backwards as the books toppled backward onto him with a large BANG! Edward groaned and rubbed his head full of messy brunette hair. Edward wasn't surprised when he saw a student across from him, he had a tendency of being clumsy and running into things, partially to the fact that he was tall for his age... So was the boy he had run into... Edward got up first,
"Sorry," He said lending a hand to the boy helping him up. "I'm pretty clumsy and I couldn't see anything... No excuse though, you okay?"
They caught each other's eyes, dark and deep curiosity.... Edward froze... It was like looking into a mirror... A mirror that looked back and blinked...

John almost stopped breathing. Well to be honest he did stop breathing, all he could do was blink. He swore what he ran into was a human being, not a mirror. And especially not one that doesn’t copy his movements.

If anything, it was kind of terrifying. Whoever was right in front of hum looked a little too much like him. The only real difference was skin tone as the boy in front of him had a healthy tan and John was unearthly pale. Books were all over the floor and the kids that were walking by were given both John and the ‘Mirror’ weird looks.

They had been standing still staring at each other for a decent amount of time now. John couldn’t bear the silence any longer and he needed to know more about this mystery that stood in front of him.

“H-hello?” He said to the boy. This better not be some kind of prank because if it was the prankster is going to pay dearly for it. “Am I crazy or do w-we look similar? Like I-incredibly Similar
.”
He wanted to start picking up the books that were laying at his foot or maybe even nurse the bruise he had received on his shin from said books but he just couldn’t find it in him to move.

John cursed his curiosity and waited for the ‘Mirror’ to respond.

He hadn't even noticed but they had been standing there for quite a long while... Staring at each other or more like observing each other. Both wondering why the mirror before them could talk back to them and not move the same as them. The major difference being that Edward was tan and he was pale. The boy was the first to break the silence...
“H-hello?” He said, the boy had an American accent, like him, though their accents differed slightly. The boy had stuttered probably in shock. "Am I crazy or do w-we look similar? Like I-incredibly Similar?"
The boy started to pick up the books that had scattered all over the floor, Edward immediately got to work, they were his books.
"I was thinking the same thing... We do Lookalike... Like a lot..." Edward said after the picked up the books looking at him.
"Who are you?" He said with an uneasy squint. He had seen this in movies multiple times, but never in real life... Curiosity shone in his dark eyes as did the boy's. There was no way it could be polyjuice because it wouldn't make your skin lighter. He said what they were both thinking, "Is this some sort of prank?"
Deep in his heart though, Edward knew it wasn't and neither did he want it too... He knew deep down their was something more too this mystery...

John’s analytical brain started to put together a short checklist of possible answers.

First it could be some kind of prank. But in the long scheme of things why would the prankers choose him of all people. He hadn’t made anyone upset so far, heck he barely talked to anyone. So, that one was ruled out.

Second John could be going insane. He wasn’t going to delve into that possibility so that was instantly ruled out.

And finally, the most likely option was that they had some kind of relation to each other. It had to be something distant like a cousin that was removed or something. But, something kept nagging at him, they looked a little too similar to just be cousins. Could they be siblings or something? That would mean he would have been lied to for all this time. The thought made him incredibly uncomfortable.

“Oh, I’m John and to my knowledge this isn’t any kind of prank.” He said. “Do you have any clues as to what this could be?”

John didn’t know why but he felt like he could trust this person enough to not suspect a prank. That and he shot down that possibility earlier.

“Oh, I’m John and to my knowledge this isn’t any kind of prank.” The boy said, Edward nodded listening closely. “Do you have any clues as to what this could be?”
"Well nice to meet you John... That's a relief," Edward was very relieved that it wasn't a prank, but then what was it? "I have now idea what this is... Oh yeah, my name is Edward."
He shook his hand politely. Unfortunately, Edward knew little to nothing about his family history, it truly was a mystery. Edward had never really thought to ask and his mother never thought to share. Pondering on it now, it was really strange.... Don't people have grandparents, aunties, uncles, and cousins? He knew his mother was english, so his family had to be in England, right? Family, to him that meant him, his mother, and the father that left right after he was born, but maybe he had more... More family? Maybe he didn't have to pretend to have siblings!
"How old are you? When's your birthday?" He asked trying to crack this code.

“I’m a first year so I’m 11.” John said. “Oh, and um I was born the 25th of January why?”

Did the boy in front of him have a clue as to why they look so similar? John kept trying to find any reasonable explanations to his doppelganger. Anything that didn’t involve his parents lying to him because that was a horrible thought and not something that John wanted to take part in. He believed Edward as he introduced himself when he said that it wasn’t a prank because right now his eyes held as much confusion as John himself.

Maybe it really was time to consider the horrible. Maybe his parents had lied to him throughout his entire life. It hurt to think about but John took pride in being reasonable and taking all the possible paths to finding the truth. That would explain why him and Edward looked incredibly alike and would also explain the lack of knowledge relating to his family outside of his mother and father.

It gave many answers but also created a lot of questions. Why had he been lied to? Did that mean that one of his parents weren’t biologically related to him? Well that question would probably lead into the fact that he looked nothing like his mother. Why hadn’t he been told of Edward?

John’s mind was reeling at all the new questions and he was frustrated with his lack of answers.

Edwrad's mouth hung open like a codfish, He looked at John astonished. There was an awkward silence between them...
"That's my birthday too..." The world spun around, it was nothing but an abstract blur of colors.... And John. But how?...And when?... And what? He swallowed his spot forcing the next words to come out slowly as he blinked rapidly, feeling lightheaded.
"What's your last name?.." He wondered if this was answer to the truth. "My last name is Edwards...."
Edward had never had any family besides that of his Mother and the father he didn't know, Stuart Edwards, this is because Stuart had run away with Milly Penton.... His last name could be the key to everything, the key to the secret pass of Edward's family, they key to a new future... With family... The whole world laid on John's next words, but then his heart dropped that meant his mother had kept it a secret, but it started to fly as he though that she was just trying to protect him, and she never lied, he had just never asked.... But that was all about to change....

Edward had just dropped a bomb upon him. They had the same birthday, they looked the same, and by the look on Edward’s face there was something else to the mystery as well.

Facts were facts John knew that just as much as the next person. So, he couldn’t deny the situation he found himself in right now. He had almost forgot about Edward in his state of thought until he spoke up.

"What's your last name?.." He said. "My last name is Edwards...."

John wasn’t sure how this would help at all. It wasn’t as if his last name would blow the case wide open, or at least to John’s knowledge it shouldn’t. Did Edward know something that John didn’t? Maybe he just wanted to know his last name for the simple reason of just wanting to know his full name. No that didn’t make sense. This isn’t really the time for formalities.

Edward must know something that involves a name. That means that when John answered there is a possibility that it might mean something to Edward and finally give them the answers they have been looking for.

John took a deep breath before answering. “My full name is John Penton.”

A Gasp rang through the hall.

Edward took a dramatic gasp taking a step before taking a step back.
"Penton?" Edward asked with a nervous smile, he felt light headed. The corners of his mouth twitched as he weakly laughed uncomfortably. He took a deep breath and shook his head, he was trying to push away the emotions, his vision was blurry and he couldn't see clearly.
"Penton," Edward squeaked before collapsing to the ground, his eyes had rolled to look up, cross-eyed, and he lost balance falling with a large THUD! He had no recall on what happened next...

John was too stunned to move. He was right to assume that his last name held some meaning to Edward the look of shock on his face said it all. But he didn’t expect Edward to just pass out in front of him. John’s name must have meant something incredibly serious to Edward.

‘This isn’t the time to go on a tangent!’ John scolded himself. ‘Edward passed out!’ John removed himself from his thoughts and ran to Edward’s side.

‘Do I call a teacher? Is there even one nearby?’ John thought to himself. Now that he was even closer to Edward he can see how outrageously similar they look. If it wasn’t for his own lack of pigment they would be pretty much identical.

John didn’t really know what else to do so he started to tap Edwards forehead with his finger. ‘How do you deal with someone who passed out?’ he couldn’t help but ask himself. ‘Maybe I should take him to the school nurse?’ John hadn’t been there before so he would have to get directions.

He decided that if Edward didn’t wake up soon then he would find someone who knew where the Hospital Wing was. He would give it about 5 minutes before rushing to find someone to help.
