A Half-breed's Trouble
"Oh bollocks, no this can't be happening!" The sound of wet squishy steps filled the halls as Daphne ran, leaving a trail of water behind her. How could she have been such an idiot?? She had fallen asleep by the Great Lake after studying and when she woke up, it was pouring rain. Everyone was at dinner so it was easy for her to avoid everyone, and make her way to the second floor. Why was she even here? She should be in the common room on the first floor! She was such an idiot! Nobody was in the corridors though so this was the only place she thought of to hide. But Daphne wasn't crying because she was wet, oh no. It was because her hair dye was beginning to come off, revealing her natural blonde hair. Daphne had kept her Veela heritage a secret ever since she had came to Hogwarts, dying her hair roots and eyebrows brown to give the illusion that she was a fake blonde. She would've dyed her entire hair brown but dying her hair too much tended to damage it. Not to mention it was already difficult to dye her hair. Daphne let out a shaky breath and slumped over to the side, sitting on the ground against the wall. Everything would be already, she'd just find a way to dry her hair and dye it again. Daphne took off her robes so that she was in her buttoned up shirt underneath. At least that was dry.

A Half-breed's Trouble
BAM! BAM! BAM! went Edward's large combat boots as he ran across hogwarts, he had ran all the way from his room, late again! If you knew Edward, then you would know that he was always late to dinner! Whether it was because he was watching a movie on his phone, playing around with characters he made up, or he overslept during a small nap. Or power naps, like Edward called them. It wasn't like he was a natural tardy or late person, it only happened around dinner time. One can only assume it had to do with having to run around all day to classes, wearing down his brain and putting him out of sorts. He slowed down his pace as he neared the great hall, his stomach growled in protest, Edward scowled back adjusting his scarlet beanie on his thick head of messy brunette hair. That's when he noticed, something that peaked Edward's natural Curiosity.... A trail of water, Edward's stomach growled. He looked at the trail of water and back at the entrance, back and forth he went for a solid minute before.... The hunger of curiosity beat that of his stomach's. He followed the trail making sure not to step in it, he was now in detective mode, he must find out what it led too! He followed it to the corridors, until it stopped! And there at the end was a girl holding her wet black robes, she was soaked all except for her shirt. That solves the mystery.... Or does it? He was sure that he had seen the girl around before, she had dirty blonde hair normally, yet here she stood with pure blonde hair.@Daphne Sapphirus
"Hey! Your that huff-puff girl!" He could tell by the mustard yellow tie, gloves, and beanie she wore. "Isn't your hair dirty-blonde? Or is it a mask up to cover your true colors?"
He squinted at her, running in his mind all the interrogation shows he had watched on late nights.
"Also... Why are you wet? And why aren't you eating with everyone else?"
He thought maybe she just didnt want to eat, that was understandable, but this was a mystery. Different hair colors? Completely wet? Strange attracting aura? Obviously hiding something... But he couldn't put his finger on it... Not yet...

Thank goodness her mother had bought her extra robes before she had went on the train. She wasn't even sure how to dry her robes in her dorm, let alone go to her dorm while hiding a soaking wet pair of clothes. She felt so wimpy crying but it was all that she knew to do in this situation. Well, her brothers wouldn't cry, they were much tougher than her. Daphne then gasped when she heard a voice, looking shocked to see that a Hufflepuff boy was in here. Why wasn't he at the Great Hall? She sprung back up to her feet, dropping her robes behind her. "E-Excuse me? My name is Daphne not Huff..Puff..whatever!" She always was a shy person but now she was pretty stressed, not really paying attention to how she could come off as rude. "M-My true colors? Who even are you? You can't just walk up to someone accusing them of stuff!" She protested while fidgeting with her hands. "I just had an accident with the rain is all, but that's not your business. You should be in the Great Hall!" She glanced at one of her hands, her palm being stained brown from the dye. Hiding it behind her back, Daphne furrowed her eyebrows in frustration. "Were you following me? That is illegal, you know!" Her mother's Veela temper was beginning to reveal itself. Looking down, she gestured to his large combat boots with her other hand, "Imagine I called you Bootsy! That's not very nice is it?"

Edward's eyes had glassed up, he wasn't trying to be rude or anything.
"I-I..." He tried to think of what to say but the sensitivity he gained from his mother was choking him. "I wasn't following you! There was a long trail of water and I followed it! I was late to eat, I-I always am! I wasn't accusing you if it's true! Huff puff isn't an insult it's your house, you know, the yellow bear? I'm one too! I wasn't trying t-to be rude! It was observations!"
Edward had not properly learned the name of the Hogwarts's houses and called them Huff Puff, Sly there in, Griffin for, and Raven's Claw. It's how he made sense of it due to him being a muggle. He didn't know why she was so angry at him, that means he caught her doing something she shouldn't or.... Maybe it was something she didn't want him to know?... WAIT! Quick-tempered, attracting aura, pure-blonde hair, water.... He had read all this in a book before. He figured it out, before he could stop himself he yelled,
"YOU ARE PART-VEELA!" He covered his mouth too late. Luckily no one else was present... But would that spare him from her anger? Tears still clouded Edward's eyes, he wiped them with his sleeve pretending they never fell, his nose was pink....

"Water? I-um.." Daphne looked around and then noticed the trail of water that she had left. She frowned, upset that she hadn't noticed and had left a mess on the Hogwarts floors. Could that warrant her detention? Why was she even thinking about detention now?? When Daphne looked back at the boy, she noticed that his eyes were watery, the girl being quite shocked that they were. Was he truly upset? It couldn't be, Daphne couldn't recall the last time that she had made someone upset. She certainly had never made anyone cry before. "The yellow bear..? It's a badger!" How could he not know the animal of his own house? She didn't even think he was a muggleborn because she assumed that every student would know. their own house mascot. Those dreaded words finally came out from his mouth, the truth. She was certainly part Veela, and he had figured her out in a matter of moments. Fortunately, Daphne managed to get a grip on herself before she'd say something that she'd regret. It didn't feel right making him cry and she didn't need more attention on them. "..Yes, I am! You are quite nosy, you know! But still, you can't just...just.." She had to think about her next words, obviously struggling to do so. Daphne couldn't find any more excuses.. "I am sorry for yelling but you can't tell anyone. Seriously! I did not mean to make you upset but it's just very..important to me. Important that nobody else knows." She went back to her former state, fiddling with her fingers anxiously. Surely he wasn't the type that would blackmail or use this against her, right?

"A Badger?" Edward thought for a bit, he was sure it was a bear... He picked up his tie to look at it, it was up-side down it looked like a black, white, and gray bear. He flipped it over, was it a badger?...

Suddenly she was another person, only mere moments ago she had been yelling with pure rage, but now he could see she was just scared, Daphne nervously fiddled with her hands. He felt slightly offended that she suspected that he would tell everyone.
"I'm not nosy, I'm curious..." He thought for a moment. "There is a difference right? And why would I tell people? I may be curious but I'm not a blabber-mouth! I'm an investigator not a reporter."
His mother had always warned him, Curiosity killed the cat, but she also said Curiosity is a wonderful thing! So he got mixed signals, it was a positive and a negative. He didn't mean to be intrusive or such, he only wanted to know. He decided to let her know that.
"I wasn't trying to be rude or intrusive, it's just my nature," Edward said hoping she would understand. "Here..." He held up his pinky finger. "I promise I went tell your secret..." He used his other hand to cross his heart. "Cross my heart and hope to die!"

A giggle slipped from Daphne's lips, being more amused than annoyed. "Yes, it's a badger! There's no way you thought that was a bear! If it anything it looks more like a raccoon!" She said while stepping closer to him and lifting her tie, showing the Hufflepuff sigil on it. She pointed out the badger, and how the nose was quite long. "See? Bears have short snouts, while badgers have longer ones." When she looked back up, she saw his pinky, a more visible smile forming on her face. It was then that she knew Edward meant well, and that he was simply just curious rather than against her. It was just a matter of circumstance, not him tracking her down solely for the purpose of exposing her. Taking his pinky, she sealed the promise, "Good. I...I accept, Bootsy!" Daphne said while laughing once more from her usage of the nickname. "My name is Daphne Sapphirus! I was sleeping outside and when I woke up, it was all rainy so I ran inside soaking wet before anyone could see. Well-I guess you saw." She sighed heavily, the water from her hair still dripping on the ground. "I know it sounds weird but people can't know I'm a half-breed. Especially with me being Part-Veela, I wouldn't be able to handle the attention. Making people feel different just with my looks is so..unfair. Not natural. I love my heritage but for now I need people to see me without my..aura. Do you understand?"

He nodded he understood, he understood perfectly. The prejudice they held against half-breeds was a lot like the prejudice they held against muggles. For some reason everyone thought they were incompetent, of magic, he didn't understand it... But yet again Edward had been homeschooled with limited outside access, so he knew much of nothing, including judgement, it just didn't click. Edward saw that she still stood wet, he wondered if she was cold. He wish he knew more about his heritage... He knew almost little to nothing about his family...
"I understand, Daphini," he laughed at his own nickname he gave her. It was weird how quickly it had all been resolved. "I know a thing or two about keeping secrets..."
He smiled, revealing the gap between his two large front teeth, strange yet charming. He took off his black and yellow scarf and wrapped it around her neck.
"That should help a little, see you around Daphini!" He smiled before turning to leave back to dinner, his stomach hadn't silencer so he planned to silence it, with all the food he could eat! It had been a strange and odd encounter, but she seemed interesting, and now they shared a secret, their fates were combined with this secret, and Edward planned to keep it, along with the others that hung deep inside his heart... The ones no one or thing would ever know... Edward called this a victory, he figured out his crime and settled the dispute.... Well maybe not, but it all ended well, for both of them... Or did it?Edward Had left the Thread

Daphne wasn't that hungry due to having a big lunch earlier so she would have plenty of time to dye her hair again. Then again, she did start wearing a beanie ever since the weather got cold so maybe she didn't need to dye all that much. It was then that Edward revealed his teeth, Daphne gasping softly from the gap. Why had he shown her that? She wasn't the type to make fun of the teeth of others and certainly wasn't in any shape to be doing so. Wouldn't he have gotten them fixed with a spell, though? Unless...he was a muggle born! By the time she realized, he had walked away, likely to the Great Hall to eat. Daphini... That was an interesting nickname, a unique one too! She hoped that she would see him around Hogwarts, but she didn't know his name! Well, she could always just call him Bootsy, just like he'd call her Daphini. He knew that she was Part-Veela and he was a muggle born, which meant that he definitely knew how it felt to be judged. Well, Daphne would be sure not to judge him, or anyone's blood status for that matter. She trusted this stranger, well perhaps acquaintance now. Only time would tell, and they had seven years. After he had disappeared from view, she turned around, taking the opposite staircase to her common room.
