Blueberry Milkshake and Vanilla

Thoughts: ✕ | Dialogue: ✕
Irina was really excited today! She and her parents went to Diagon Alley, one of her favorite places on earth, to buy her school supplies. She was finally going to Hogwarts and all of that causes a mix of emotions on the young little lady's heart. She wanted to finally go to the magical castle she heard her father talk about so much and see with her own eyes what a former Ravenclaw had told her about its walls and secrets. Of course all of that would be easier to think about and cause a lot less painful ideas, if it wasn't for her inexperience about the art of making friends.
She had been already at Ollivanders choosing her wand...or better saying, being chosen by her wand a 24,1 cm alder wood and unicorn hair. She got very interested about the wood and its core, and why did that one in particular chose her. She decided then, that this would be a subject that she would look for at Hogwarts. Her mother Ingrid had stayed at the last shop, talking to a friend of her and her father went to buy the Daily Prophet, so Irina went alone to the Florean Fortescue's, her mother gave her some money so she could by her favorite blueberry milkshake while waiting for her parents to go home.
She entered the ice cream's parlour half walking, half jumping on her steps. She asked and received her order thanking the nice man on attendant and turned to find a table to sit a wait for her mother and father. But school is about to begin and Diagon Alley is crowded with people from all over and outside the country, and Fortescue's is no exception. There wasn't a single empty table...she looked around and found a girl apparently of her age, Oh...Ok... she was considering if she should go and talk with the blond girl or just leave the store. She had promised her parents that she would be here waiting...what if she went out and get lost? That would be more embarrassing and stressful then say hi to a possible new friend right? She was still having doubts about her decision but either way, she decided to walk for the girl's table, "H..Hi! Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked shyly.

Blueberry Milkshake and Vanilla
Taylor was not in a good mood.
Like, at all. It hadn't started like that, though. She had started the day in reasonably good spirits, knowing that it was the day her life as a Hogwarts student was finally seeming more real and near. That's right, today Taylor was going to go to Diagon Alley and buy all her school supplies.
She had been so excited to do it all, especially buying her wang, but the real reason for her being so psyched originally was because her parents had promised to go with her to buy her school supplies-- a big deal for her, since they normally never spent time with her. But they's cancelled at the last minute, something so much like them.
Taylor sighed as she stirred her vanilla milkshake. She didn't even know why she was so upset. Wasn't that all their relationship was built upon, broken promises?
So, Taylor had come here to Diagon Alley by herself. She had often come here before, so she knew her way around. The only bad thing was that Diagon Alley was usually really crowded, and although Taylor knew nobody cared about her, she still felt like everyone was looking at her and wondering what an eleven-year-old kid was doing, wandering around Diagon Alley by herself.
So, she'd brought an umbrella along.
It was a win-win, really. Extra protection from the fierce sun, plus she wouldn't need to see anybody and worry herself wondering what they thought of her.
But, of course, she'd come here to the Ice cream parlor first. The very least she could do for herself was get a milkshake, right?
Just as Taylor was about to take another sip of her drink, she heard a voice from in front of her.
'H... Hi!' The voice seemed to be from a girl. 'Do you mind if I sit here?'
Taylor literally froze. Her heart started beating very fast in her chest, and she wouldn't have been surprised if she'd turned very red. What was she thinking, coming here? She should have just gotten her school stuff and left as quickly as she could! And now, a complete stranger was asking to sit with her, which she really hated.
Taylor looked up, wearing an expression of which she was sure was absolute terror. It wasn't like she could help it.
The girl talking to her was around her age, with dark wavy hair, a tan and eyes a brilliant hazel. A pretty face, by anyone's standards. That made Taylor, if possible, even more nervous. Attractive people always made her feel like even more of an ugly duckling.
'Uh... um... o... okay.' Taylor whispered. She hoped the girl had heard her.@Irina Sousa

Irina wasn't sure about what the girl's answer was, once her words came out in an almost inaudible whisper. Even so, she got closer to the seat across from the blond-haired girl and tried to excuse herself for her interruption, "I'm sorry for ask...is that I arranged to meet my parents here after they finish their chores at other stores on the street. I promise to stay quite if you prefer", It was obvious for her that the girl wasn't feeling comfortable with her approach and now she was feeling even more embarrassed for putting her and herself in that awkward position. She felt her heart bit on her ears because how nervous she was and she was starting too regret her decision, I could just have walked to the entry and wait there! She reckoned, but now was to late for that, the girl has been polite to her and she wouldn't be rude. So she seated on the chair apologizing to the beautiful girl, "Excuse me then!", she smiled sheepishly trying her best to be nice, "My name is Irina Sousa by the way, thank you for let me sit here!", she landed her milkshake on the table and reached her hand towards the girl so she could shake it back if she wanted.

The girl nudged toward the seat across from Taylor, as if she wanted to sit but wasn't sure if she should. Looking almost as uncomfortable as Taylor felt, she said something about arranging to meet her parents here, and that she would stay quiet if Taylor wanted.
Awkwardly, the brunette girl sat down on the chair, and smiled sheepishly, introducing herself as Irina Sousa. Upon hearing that, the first thing that came to Taylor's mind was 'Irina Salsa?' However, she decided not to voice her thoughts out loud and instead reached out to grip the girl's hand ever so slightly, redrawing it quickly. She hoped the girl didn't think of her as stuck-up. It was just that Taylor found it hard to make big movements in public, with her feeling that everybody was watching her.
Taking a deep breath, she said, in what she hoped was a much more normal voice,' I'm Taylor Hunt. Nice to meet you.' Then she smiled, admittedly a bit forcedly to Irina Salsa.
Okay, time to get clean: deep down, Taylor really wanted a friend. And not just a casual one, a best friend, to whom she could talk about anything, and do anything with. But whenever a kid tried to make friends with her, her eyes mostly just darted around nervously and replied in very short sentences, causing a lot of people to think she was arrogant.
Taylor had no reason to believe this girl would be any different, but since it looked like she was the chatting type, Taylor might as well try, right?@Irina Sousa

Irina seated there quietly, not sure if she should talk or just stay there looking at the window to the crowded street. The sun was shining that afternoon and it was hot outside, with such a crowd around it gave a stuffy, almost claustrophobic feeling. Irina had been at Diagon Alley so many times and she actually liked the place, her favorite shop was the Quality Quidditch Supplies since she loved that sport, but she doesn't naturally like being surrounded by so many people. Being seated there it actually gave her the idea of a refuge in the middle of all that confusion between bodies bumping and rushing towards the most requested stores. She was happy that she already had bought all she needed for Hogwarts. The only thing left to buy was her fall ball’s dress, but that could wait for another day. She was contemplating all the families that were passing in every direction, some older students were already with their group of friends chatting enthusiastically obviously happy for meeting again after the summer brake. Will she be able to have such close friends? Friends with who she could count on? To share her dreams but also her nightmares? She turned her gaze towards Taylor and wondered if she could become one of those friends. Well, she was already there, so why not try to make this situations less awkward and make some conversation with her? "Are you going to Hogwarts too? It's going to be my first year there...I'm very excited to finally be able to see that castle!" she made an encouraging smile at the girl, trying her best to make her at ease, "Are you from London? I was born and raised here, but my mother is German and my father came from a Portuguese family...that's my surname is Sousa!" she talked quietly and gentle to not scare the girl, she didn't seem to be the talkative type.
