Personality: Lauretta is incredibly shy, and has never had many friends due to this. She is not very socially aware, due to being autistic, which can make social interactions with new people very difficult for her. However, it also allows her to care less about what people she does not care about think. To people she is close to, Lauretta is a quirky, intelligent and affectionate child, but to people who do not know her she can seem cold, uncaring and shy.
Looks: Lauretta has long, wavy, red hair, which is often tied up in pigtails. She has emerald eyes, which are usually covered partially by her fringe and partially by her glasses, which have thick red frames. Her face is rounded, like that of a child just entering puberty, and she has clear, pale skin. Lauretta has always been tall for her age, and she is very slender. Lauretta does not care especially about her physical appearance, so often she appears disorganised due to a lack of physical maintenance.
Family:
Lauretta lives in Wales with her mother, father and younger brother. Her mother, Millicent Smith, was a witch, who attended Hogwarts, and was in Hufflepuff house. While overall very encouraging of Lauretta, Millicent has a tendency to be insensitive, and very prejudiced against people. An example of this is her assigning negative attributes to those placed in Gryffindor and Slytherin. Lauretta's father, Henry Smith, is a muggle, but he is very open-minded towards all things magical, and has always been supportive of Lauretta. Her younger brother, Avery, is 6 years old, and has exhibited signs of magic (unbeknownst to Lauretta).
Magic Use
When Lauretta was 4, she had a meltdown because she was unable to communicate what she wanted to her mother. During this, Lauretta managed to shatter several glasses on a counter due to uncontrollable magic. This was one of her first observed uses of magic. Lauretta has also accidentally made toys float through her room, her clarinet play notes by itself, and pushed bowls of food she did not like away from her using her magic. As she got older, the explosive quality of her magic became more under control, and now her accidental magic is of a more controllable nature.
First Year: Lauretta met Luna Silvana on the train to Hogwarts. Lauretta was also sorted in to Ravenclaw, a house that her mother respected.

Pre-Hogwarts History:
Lauretta had a non-magical upbringing, despite her mother being a witch. She was born in Garw Valley, Wales, and attended a muggle school there, at the request of her muggle father. Much of her elementary school life was spent in rehearsals for various bands. Lauretta began playing clarinet at the age of 6, and showed remarkable aptitude for the instrument. She continues to play it to this day. She also spent many hours learning about technology, but since starting schooling at Hogwarts she has stopped this as it did not prove accessible.
