The World's Smallest Violin
Thymus sat hunched over his table scribbling away, when he heard a door open and light chatter. He smiled revealing his silver brackets when he heard a small familiar voice conversing with his aunt Meredith. He knew it was Sunday, the adults his aunt and uncle would chatter the night away even if it was not pleasant. It was a mere moment before a little girl stood at the doorway, her long blonde curls hung loosely revealing her pale face, her large dark eyes became smaller as she smiled a large smile. Thymus matched her smile from ear to ear, you could see that they were indeed related even if they were cousins they felt like brother and sister.
"Hi Time!" she spoke with a gentle voice.
"Good Day Miss Brisbane, may I escort you?" Thymus smiled getting up from his chair bowing holding out his hand like a gentlemen making a silly serious face causing a laugh to come from her.
"Of course my dear Time darling," she said overly proper taking Thymus's hand. "Don't forget to get my darling, my love Sir Rabbit a seat as well."
"Of course Ma'am, who could forget Sir Rabbit," Thymus said taking the stuffed white rabbit into his hands. He led her to the study, they would do most of their acting and playing here.
He perched the rabbit with a monocle on top of a large stack of books.
"What song do you request Madam Brisbane," Thymus said holding his hands behind his back and nose stuck-up in the air, his long black hair hanging loosely infront of his pale face.
"OH! Mr. Time you know my favorite song," She said know in a laughing fit.
"OH! How foolish of me, of course.... Hmmm.... The Wellerman?" He said faking that he didn't know what song the 9 year old was speaking of, she laughed,
"Silly Mr. Time, The World's Smallest Violin by AJR!" She laughed no longer maintaining her proper composure.
"Of course! Silly me!" Thymus laughed, going over to the records pulling out the requested record and placing it gently as it began to play.
My grandpa fought in World War II...
"May I have this dance Alice?" Thymus said holding out his hand.
He was such a noble dude
I can't even finish school...
"Of course!" Alice said laughing taking his hand.
Missed my mom, and left too soon... And began their dancing as they jumped all around holding each other's hands laughing uncontrollably.
His dad was a fireman
Who fought fires so violent
I think I bored my therapist
While playing him my violin
that's so insane
(Oh, my God) that's such a shame
Next to them, my shit don't feel so grand
But I can't help myself from feeling bad
I kinda feel like two things can be said (one, two, three, four)
The world's smallest violin
Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon (that's right, that's right)
Thymus jumped up on the desk helping Alice up.
I'll blow up into smithereens
And spew my tiny symphony
Just let me play my violin for you, you, you, you
My grandpa fought in World War II
And he was such a noble dude
Man, I feel like such a fool
I got so much left to prove
All my friends have vaping friends
They're so good at making friеnds
I'm so scared of caving in
Is that entertaining yеt?
Thymus starts a solo and tap dances.
that's so insane
(Oh, my God) that's such a shame
Next to them, my shit don't feel so grand
Alice tap dances back after Thymus finishes.
But I can't help myself from feeling bad
I kinda feel like two things can be said (one, two, three, four)
They both start to dance with each other once again.
The world's smallest violin
Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon (that's right, that's right)
I'll blow up into smithereens
And spew my tiny symphony
Just let me play my violin for you, you, you, you
Somewhere in the universe
Somewhere someone's got it worse
Wish that made it easier
Wish I didn't feel the hurt
The world's smallest violin
Really needs an audience
So if I do not find somebody soon
I'll blow up into smithereens
And spew my tiny symphony
All up and down a city street
While tryna put my mind at ease
Like finishing this melody
This feels like a necessity
So this could be the death of me
Or maybe just a better me
Now, come in with the timpanis
And take a shot of Hennessy
I know I'm not there mentally
But you could be the remedy
So let me play my violin for you
The song ends sending them into a laughing fit on the ground. Sir Rabbit onlooking from his pile of his books the entire way...
"I just want to be a good person." ~ Quercy (Thymus Quercus Timerey)
