Today was finally the day. A day that Haley had been working towards for a long time and for which a lot of persuasion and convincing of her parents was necessary. But she had made it, she had been able to convince them that Haley was now old enough to take on enough responsibility for a pet of her own. Of course, clear and strict conditions were negotiated beforehand, but Haley managed to convince them and was overjoyed when they were finally on their way to the shop.

While Haley's mother was still trying to convince her to get a rabbit, a cat or maybe an owl, Haley already knew which animal it would be. She knew it from the day she had first spoken to one. When the fascination for these animals was awakened in her. About the day she had freed the snake from Aiden. Of course, all of this was strengthened by the fact that she was a Parselmouth. There was a natural connection between her and snakes, why would she choose anything else?

Haley's grin was still wide on her face as she walked through the door of the shop. She stopped for a moment and looked around. Behind a counter she could see two older people. "Hello you three." Greeted the man. "I am Ernest Witticker, how can I help you?" The tall man with white hair smiled at the family and Haley's mother took the floor. "Good afternoon, we are looking for a pet for our daughter Haley." She put her hands on Haley's shoulder and Haley nodded wildly. "But we think she's already made her decision." Added Haley's father now with a smirk.

"Well then Haley, feel free to look around and if you need my help, you'll find me up front here." The man gestured once around the room. "Thank you sir." Haley thanked him and already the red-haired girl had disappeared into the shop.

Haley's feet led her straight to her destination, past the owls, the bunnies, the frogs. Until she finally arrived, at the snakes. She could see a few, but one immediately caught her eye. It was beautifully green and lay curled up on a small wooden trunk. It had its head resting on it's er body, its eyes closed. Haley had fallen in love immediately and watched it for a moment until the snake extended its tongue and let it disappeare again. Haley looked around cautiously, she was alone and very softly she whispered. "Hello you." The familiar hiss sounded and again she looked around to make sure no one heard her.

When she turned her gaze back to the snake, it had lifted its head and was now looking directly at Haley. Haley couldn't help but smile and before she could have continued speaking, her father was suddenly standing behind me. "Honey, did you find what you were looking for?" He inquired, looking at the snakes. "Yes, I did." She grinned and looked back at the snake, which was still fixing Haley with its gaze.

Haley's father informed Ernest Witticker of his daughter's choice while she went through the shop with her mother to buy everything necessary for Haley's new companion. Haley could still believe that in just a few minutes she would be leaving this shop with a new companion, but that was exactly what she was about to do.
