Alone in the Library... Or Not? Closed

Abi sat in the corner of the library, away from the occasional whispering of the students around him. He squinted at the letters of the book, not wanting to pull out his reading glasses for fear of being poked fun at like his old school. It was a lot less risky to just struggle with the reading then deal with that again.

He curled his legs closer to him, wisping his wavy black hair out of his face, ocean blue eyes concentrating on the words in front of him. He was never really social- school and his future was always a priority. "People are a choice. A choice you have to decide if it's really worth risking your future over," his mother would always say. And who was he to question the words of the woman who made him?

He had met several people today, at least. They seemed nice enough. Maybe the people in this school weren't that bad. But that didn't mean he was going to start conversations with more people. One wrong move with the wrong person, and he'd be the target of everyone. Not worth the risk.

It's not like he seemed that approachable. He was tall for an 11 year old, and looked at least fourteen. His demeanor seemed serious as well, causing people to see him as 'intimidating'. Helped when you were trying to stay away from people. Didn't help when you wanted to make friends. People rarely ever approached to see how he really was. All they saw was the outside shell.

He dug his nose into the book more, getting lost in the words as he kept silent.
